  • On the fifth floor of the abandoned Cocoa Beach Glass Bank just below the penthouse is what seems to be a concrete vault of some sort. The excavator is having a really tough time tying to open it with his 65 foot excavator with a concrete shear.

    It's always so sad to see an amazing place like this being torn down.
    Old places are so interesting to me, and this place was abandoned for years before they finally demolished it. The inside of the pent house looked so cool.

    The exterior may have fallen victim to one too many hurricanes, but that interior section wasn't going without a fight.

      +boutcha1 The planes were not relevant. Just pour a few thousand gallons of jet fuel on the fourth floor and set it on fire. The building will collapse in free fall acceleration into it's own footprint since the office equipment and furniture will generate enough heat to weaken the structure. It's been proved before, three times! Building 7 proved we don't even need the planes. No Saudi's required.

      +Kevin Fox Yes, controlled demoliton agreed, Building 7 proved it was all a hoax with planes, Jet feul cant melt steel. You can tell im a conspiracy theorist

    It's not a vault. It's the elevator mechanical room.

    Why doing this USA.Destroying your own history which you hardly having? Interesting and beautiful buildings just left to rot until it comes time to tear it down. This could not happen so easy here in Europe. I heard they couldn't open the vault. Well, done mr Wolf.

      +Maruna Junttila This only happens because people who own the building(s) that become abandoned have no money to fix the building, or they become bankrupt.

      There is one fundamental difference between the United States and Europe. Space. In European cities there is no room to grow outward, unless you want to be further from the action. In the States, we don't have that problem at all. That is why our cities tend to sprawl out more. That building was a eyesore and the land was in low demand. And the building did not live up to code, so rebuilding it would cost more that the value of the history behind the building. That is also why you see buildings in the States usually go beyond the safety guidelines in a effort to make it so that the structure will meet safety guidelines for much longer. I live in a bedroom community of Los Angeles and there are a decent number of abandon buildings outside of very wealthy hubs. It is not history that American contractors care about, it is demand, and the more demand there is, the more money per square foot.

      it the exactly the same in Britain with old buildings which are 300 years old are just left to rot it's disgusting

      Sam Wilde We had an workhouse at the place I lived once and it had vines and everything. Utterly terrifying for me, being someone who doesn't deal well with old buildings, abandoned or not. At the back of the workhouse was tons of rubbish. Gladly the workhouse has been converted into houses and the rubbish has been replaced by new houses.

      Bryce Cannon I was really impressed by the very talented cat operator. He obviously knew what he was doing. The whole building has been brought down and nobody got hurt. I'm sure if he had his way, he would have done it with a much bigger machine with a camera on the arm. He did all of this viewing from inside the cat, without a monitor.

    • @robertBrownboater
      @robertBrownboater  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Too expensive at the time to replace all the glass with hurricane safety glass and with all the leaks and neglect the building became an eyesore. Fighting over responsibility to upgrade, lawsuits, etc.

  • @braydenbledsoe3252

    So much effort to take it down that way, Fuel, renting equipment, paying the men the labor hours, time to take it down then get it loaded into a dumpster or something which also cost money to haul it out.
    Can't you simply just implode the building and then save so much time?
