Xulfi and Adnan Dhool did the same thing with Naseebo Laal in "Tu Jhoom" (She has been terribly misused in her past singing) - but with "Tu Jhoom" she was like a light illuminating the words. I won't say anything about Kaana Yaari or Sajan Das Na - for me they are misdirected away from the original vision of Coke Studio, perhaps I'll do a review Vlog on this season later, after more songs are released. But in the meantime, I have to say your reactions make me see songs in ways I could not otherwise, and I am grateful to you. :)

Coke Studio Pakistan was always about exploring different genres of Pakistani music. Rohail Hayat himself nominated Xulfi for the next season. Even Bilal Maqsood in his recent interview said that Coke Studio despite having produced great music in the past had become limiting in that it became restricted to Sufi and folk instead of experimenting more which I completely agree with. Your comment is exactly doing that. It's also taking away from the achievements of numerous young artists who've come up with such a creative song to diversify their language's musical canon. Balochi is typically associated with traditional or folk music but those three people brought their own Balochi dialects to a song that combined traditional, hip hop and rap music in a seamless way while not compromising on the raw beauty of the language. This deserves high praise not nitpicking from people who only want a particular type of music to be produced by Coke Studio and only consider that to be good music. Kana Yaari is one of the best songs I've heard in recent times and just because it's not Sufi or traditional folk in its approach and has an upbeat track with a creative set doesn't diminish the genuine beauty and appeal of the song. It's so easy to nitpick on genuinely creative songs and give bad 'reviews.' Just because a song doesn't appeal to your personal taste doesn't make it bad at all.
