Wow! That is some coal train, Jawtooth! Always happy to see the coal industry is far from dead. I noticed in the foreground remnants of the old wood pole and cable guardrails we once used on our highways, too.

Great action at another cool location. Stack trains are the most un-aerodynamic of all. One article in Trains Magazine said one third of the power on a stack train goes to fighting wind resistance. Enjoyed it much, thanks JT!

The sweeping S-curves through the town provide good views of the trains as they come and go past the former Pennsylvania Railroad passenger station. Caught it on a day the museum was closed, bummer. Maybe next time.
The cabooses were cool. Need 1 more in the middle. Since the railroads beginning to 1967 (when I was a kid) it was Pennsylvania.
In 1968, 69, 70, maybe 71, it was Penn Central.
1972 and beyond it was Conrail.
Although PC was a massive failure it was still major merging history between 2 railroad giants
    Pennsylvania and New York Central.
    Just my thoughts 😉.

  • @captainkeyboard1007

When those trains round the bend through the Tyrone Station, their wheels screech like those on rapid transit cars. All those freight trans were booking and cruising right down the line. Tyrone, Pennsylvania could become a railroader's paradise.🙂

You asked about the SIP by the mile marker 222.2 here. The SIP stands for Signal Information Point, control cab signals. Here is something that might impress you. I live down the Rail Road line in the next town of Huntingdon. There are at least 3 of those trains every day 365 days a year. There is one that passes my house around 10am. One that passes my house around 2pm. And the last one I know of passes my house around 4:30 pm, Each train has at least 180 to 190 cars full of coal each time. It's hard to believe there is that much coal in the ground and is moved everyday by the rail road. I have no idea where all of that coal goes to. There may be a train of coal that passes my house at night. The trains run all night long and after dark I don't know what is going past my house.

My birthday is next Friday. I’ve been a fan for quite a while. I’ve gone through several accounts but I have always subbed to you, millennium force and multiple other railroad content channels. I’ve been a huge train fanatic since childhood. I always wanted to work for the railroad and where I’m at Union Pacific runs through here. We gets lots of trains per day and we have an old train station from 1890 I believe and the station is now my towns chamber of commerce building. It has a little area for train fans to watch trains go by. I even got a horn salute once there too. It would be really cool if you could come film some trains here sometime and check out the old depot/train station. Anyway keep doing what you’re doing. The content is great and can’t wait to see more.

Nice video, Tyrone is a great spot to hang out. Sure used to be back when I was at PSU. I remember having my scanner on and reliably being able to tell when an eastbound was coming by the detector at 225.9 going off for track 1. That meant that in a minute you'd see headlights coming from the right/west (if you face the tracks when on the platform).
