Thanks Alex, if you are installing into a timber frame 40mm batten zips will be the go. If steel then a 35mm Tek screw will go in much easier. Hope that helps
There is a rule that a vapor barrier must be in place to meet the stringent new energy efficiency ratings. Technically yes you can, however you would need to ensure with it complies with your section J efficiency requirements. If none of that matters then go nuts it is a good option if installed well. Leave a gap of about 10mm around the windows and doors so that you can get a proper seal 🦭.
Well done mate. So the vertical battens beside the windows are required because your cutting the ribs off the sheets to go around the window? Is that why there's no need for vertical battens on the internal and external corners of the wall? Because you're not cutting the rib of the sheets?
Hi Josh, Great pick up there!! You are 100% correct. When the sheet is cut the integrity is lost in the sheet. This is why we need to implement other things to increase the integrity (stiffness) . In the following video's I show you how this happens :)
Any steel roll former. Lysaght, Stratco’s, Stramit, metroll , apex building, rollsec, Steeline…. You should have at least one of these near you. Ask for 20mm ceiling battens
Great video by the way?
Cheers! Glad you're enjoying it!
Thanks for these videos! What screws are you using for the battens?

Do you need battens if there is 15mm ply on the entire wall? Could the sheets just fix straight into the ply?

@@ConstructingArt cheers for the reply mate, it's just to clad 3 sides of a free standing pavilion, no windows, doors.
Well done mate.

What batterns are they? Look like ceiling batterns.
100% these are 20mm battens. Works great in this instance. I had them spare after a job.
