I currently have 17 amiibo, a few of which are rare in the U.S. When Rosalina was back in stock on Target's website, I decided "eh, i'll get Jigglypuff instead" since I want to complete the original 12. My uncles were in Singapore and got me a Ness and Fox amiibo, and I was lucky to get a Captain Falcon at a GameStop back in January. I also found Marth at a Best Buy at the beginning of June. I want to collect them all, but there's no way I'm paying over $20 for a single amiibo. I'll wait for restocks if I have to, or be lucky enough to find one while out shopping one day.
Mine are: Pacman Silver Mario 2 Yoshi (One is Super Smash series and the other is Mario Series) Sonic Sheik Link Toon Link Kirby Bowser Toad Charizard Wario 2 Ness from restock and 1 King Dedede from restock, and my last two are Jigglypuff and Rosalina from the restock

I've taken a crack at the whole "customizing amiibo" deal. So far all I've done is repainting Peach and Rosalina (Super Mario series) into black and gold dresses, looking slightly similar to their black/gold palettes in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U.

I kind of agree. I only have 1, and it was the Mario that came with Mario Party 10 (that game wasn't that good btw, my favorite was 7). Seriously, they cost 13 bucks each and you don't really need them (for now at least) in regular gameplay. So, enjoy games at retail price without extra stuff while you can.

Ive never heard of amiibo before recently. though, i discovered their existence in a game shop and didnt pass a second thought or bothered to look and inspect one for even a second. I honestly thought there wasnt anything special about them. but todayon youtube i found out there is a massive community/trend about hunting these things in America, Europe etc. In Australia, (where i come from) these things are so unbelievably common u can find so called super rares and half of the whole collection of amiibo in one shop.

Back when I was really young, my dad and I used to go on a weekly hunt on saturday night (sometimes also with my uncle) for treasure hunting, which was going store to store in hopes of finding these really rare Hotwheels car sets called treasure hunts (duh.) It was one of my most favorite things, and I haven't done it in so long just cause it was costing too much to get gas and go around the state looking for cars. I'm beginning to think that Amiibo might be the resurge for myself in that treasure hunting feel. Sucks that they're not as cheap as a hotwheels car, but it's something I'm much more attached to than cars

I jumped in finally for my birthday in early December. I had to get an NFC reader for my 3DS but I picked up Marth, Ike, Robin and Roy. Three were Japanese versions and one was a European version. Thankfully they are not region-locked.
I'm so glad that I managed to get an olimar amiibo before the release date of August 11th. I just have to worry about R.O.B and Mr. Game and Watch now.
My favorite thing about Amiibo hunters is they're just like the nutjobs who hunted Beenie Babies, and eventually, like Beenie Babies, they're going to be worth less than the materials they've made of.

Expand Amiidongs. I have dupe amiibo mostly dating back to Pokemon R/B/Y, where me and my brother would get the same game. This has course expanded into skylanders where I own two of the console starter pack, mostly because I know he's gonna be using the Wii. A lot. Flash-foward to the Wii U and this still goes on today. So yes, to sum it up.. I have a link, he has one. Inkling Girl? we both have one. It's amazing that it's just those two characters.

What if Nintendo started selling mystery amiibo boxes? Its a great way to get those discontinued amiibos no longer sold in stores and increases profits for Nintendo
I paid over $50 for Captain Falcon back during the initial shortage, back when Nintendo had made it clear no more of any figures would be produced... About a week after I did, they announced going back to press, and two weeks after that Cap was back on the shelves... 😕 I did manage to get Marth for retail.

The font he uses in this video is called ObelixPro, which you can get on dafont. I just had a lot of struggle finding it and if you look closely, it's the font i used for the G in my profile pick.

My brother just generally walks into the local game store and gets the Amibo he wants. He has amazing luck with this.
I jumped in finally for my birthday in early December. I had to get an NFC reader for my 3DS but I picked up Marth, Ike, Robin and Roy. Three were Japanese versions and one was a European version. Thankfully they are not region-locked.

Expand Amiidongs. I have dupe amiibo mostly dating back to Pokemon R/B/Y, where me and my brother would get the same game. This has course expanded into skylanders where I own two of the console starter pack, mostly because I know he's gonna be using the Wii. A lot. Flash-foward to the Wii U and this still goes on today.
So yes, to sum it up.. I have a link, he has one. Inkling Girl? we both have one. It's amazing that it's just those two characters.

At least the amiibo shortage is over. Some large harbor went on strike in California. Since most Japnenesse imports to the us came from there the shipments were sat on for long periods of time. And I didn't get all the Pokemon Plushies I imported on time

I have the captain falcon, marth, little mac and villager amiibo. I found them at Amazon (villager) and the rest at the Nintendo store in the US
Needs updating; the earlier rare ones were never officially discontinued and have been restocked in many suppliers (at least here in UK and EU). Glad I never paid scalper prices. Got my Shulk through last week, whoopah!
What if Nintendo started selling mystery amiibo boxes? Its a great way to get those discontinued amiibos no longer sold in stores and increases profits for Nintendo
I paid over $50 for Captain Falcon back during the initial shortage, back when Nintendo had made it clear no more of any figures would be produced...
About a week after I did, they announced going back to press, and two weeks after that Cap was back on the shelves... 😕
I did manage to get Marth for retail.
My very, very favourite is Dr. Mario, with Mr. Game n' Watch (first videogames I ever played) and the Duck Hunt dog and duck running a close second and third.

I already got 2 amiibos, I found them at a gamestop, and they were the ones i've always wanted. However, I needed 2 because i'm making my own Star Fox collection, and just in case I get a Wii U, I can use them for Star Fox Zero.
