Seems good mate 🤙, hope ya get plenty of trouble free hrs out of it.
That Intake noise is absolutely brutal
It’s a beautiful machine. I think a get ECU would be amazing on this bike one day.
Hey another great video on the Kove 450 rally! How do you like that Chinese steering damper ? Do you find its somewhat on par with a Scott’s not? Thinking about getting one to try it out.
I’m really impressed with it. I’ve run Scott’s and GPR. I like the Scott’s much better and I feel this replica is a good copy! It’s working great after almost 2k miles on the bike.
My crate arrived today, just finished putting it together and having a short low-speed test around the neighborhood. Feels incredibly planted, plush and easy to handle compared to my KLX. The tall seat height is not bothering me so far, thankfully. 😅 The throttle snatchyness at low speed is a little annoying, tho. Is that different with the timing key?
I think the throttle just takes some getting used to. I really don’t find it twitchy but have heard a lot of complaints about that. Maybe my Rekluse solves some of the on/off feeling
@@DirtByk Had another little spin today and I'm getting used to it. Think it will get better with more engine break in, too. And yeah, I think the Rekluse probably does help a little. I'd consider trying one at some point. Compared to my KLX, the Kove needs more clutch finesse at low speed.
That throttle feeling is normal on the bike out of the crate. Adjusting the throttle cable to take out some slack will help. I think a new map for the ECU and the timing key will make a huge difference. I have 600 miles of singletrack on mine and I am used to it by now.
Assuming you kept your 51t rear sprocket? Or did you go back to the stocker 49.
I’ve kept the 51T. Unless I plan to do more of a long range trip with some highway sections, I’m going to stay geared up in the rear.
Love the graphics! Did you by graphics online, or did you have a local wrap shop do it?
SKDA did them for me. I like how you play a role in designing them and can proof them before they are printed. Be aware, removing the stock graphics is a pain in the you know what! 😂
Does seem to rev faster, though my view is based only on having watched Kove videos. Any thought to getting the race ecu?
It definitely revs faster! I’ll get the Race tune when I fit a straight through exhaust system. Right now, the tune seems spot on.
@@DirtByk I'm digging the Kove story and product. It does hit a key sweet spot that has largely been ignored despite years of people asking for it.
Sounds slot crisper, any extra heat issues?
That’s exactly it; more crisp! I’m not noticing any extra heat. Then again it’s been much cooler than when I first bought and rode it.
have you flashed the ecu?
I have not flashed the ecu. I really like the fueling at this point so until I do the exhaust, the tune seems spot on.
Thanks for testing this. Probably a mode i’ll do once I get my Kove. Are you using the stock rear sprocket?
No, I’ve gone up two teeth to a 51. I don’t see going back to 49 unless I have a trip with extended highway riding.
The thing that worries me about it is the all the house brand components. Not having a supported suspension supplier is really concerning in the long game
They have all seemed well built and quality components. The suspension is almost a showa clone and any of suspension techs have done a decent job revalving. In the long run, a rider needs to learn to be their own mechanic. Not say this bike needs more work than usual, but issues will arise and knowing how to work on your bike can save your skin on a ride in the backcountry.
@@DirtByk im just worried about off brand suppliers going under and being stuck with a bike you cannot service or repair parts with lol.
@@shorew3 give it some time and see where they are in a few years. I feel they will continue to grow and make a mark on the industry.
@@shorew3I've seen people replacing fork internals with honda showa stuff... I think the brand will be around for a good while... But there's a chance honda suspension just bolts on with minimal changes.
Nothing is yet proven on this bike . Someone needs to put 10k on the clock and then see what holds up.
The engine will be just fine. It's a zongshen nc450 engine with a modified top end, and here in europe we have no conplaints about bikes with that engine.
Time will tell. The miles are racking up. It’s been proven in other applications as this was not a new motor design expect the dual overhead cam.
Yes all the reviews so far have been great. They have sold thousands of units and no real problems yet . I’m sure they will hold up . Haven’t been up close to one yet but itching to test ride .
Probably more like +20k, don't see any early problems at 5k , but time will tell....my guess is it will be sound.
I must digress, I've watched a few of your videos and it seems you ride primarily on flat ground. IMHO there are still better options, but the Kove 450 fits your style of riding. Which is completely different from what I'm used to riding in CO, WV, PA, and Western MD. Just because it would never work for me, I shouldn't condemn you for riding a Desert bike in the desert. At the same weight I think my DR650 with full Cogent suspension and many other mods might even be better...less expensive, huge parts availability, plush ride, tons of torque, and cockroach reliable. My 250XC works well in that type of terrain also, just can't go that far with a tiny tank.
You haven’t watched many, or know what southern AZ is like, because it’s not flat. This video I meant to be on flat straightaways to test the top end. Thanks for watching.
Great video! 92! Nice. I’m most impressed with the 15-20 mph wheelie capability with just a throttle blip. Nice catch noticing the smoother idol. Mine is too. It just makes this bike even more fun!!
Makes a fun bike more fun!! Kove love! 😂
