To me he seems like he didn't catch on to the fact he was friend zoned, or maybe he did but still stuck to her like a bug, and keep in mind she was 17 and he was 21 and when they started talking she was 15 and he was 19, so let that sink for a Lil that she was a child and died still a child. i remeber watching in an interview the mom did thats how their family found out she was dead, because at first they just assumed she was missing but then some sick fuck sent it to her sister just before the police could arrive to inform them of her death in a more thoughtful way
