No, as a single woman, I’m not helpless. However, I have zero mechanical ability (trust me, I’ve tried to acquire some!), and know nothing about cars, electronics, etc. So, for the typical guy who does have abilities in those areas, enjoys “fixing” things and wants to be of service to the lady in his life, I have no problem designating situations like this as a “man’s job”…should he have no problem addressing the task. I truly understand your frustration Cindy. I think there was a book awhile back titled, “Why the Help Won’t Help You”. I laughed all the way through this video! Being the wife of a member of the military, he has been deployed 3 times to the Middle East for 14-18 months at a time. I had to figure all this stuff out by myself. It still amazes me that there are people that have no clue about this stuff. When you have a spouse in the military it’s just another day in the life!! Glad things turned out okay.
Agree. I'm a bit younger and will be working for at least another decade. Due to cancer I've become somewhat disabled. No pensions with working non-profits (my choice of work). So hiring someone to blow leaves around a tiny yard is ridiculous. IMO.
If you mean that since I worked my way through college, held my job for 34 years and took on extra work when more money was needed, suffered through personal tragedy so horrible I can’t even share it, went back to school as a mother to earn my masters degree so I would earn more and have a better retirement and offer more income to my family. Divorced my husband so I could find happiness, was left to sell and clean out my house of 34 years, help take care of my dying father of dementia, then my mother. Get her estate cleaned out and sold….. was left to start my life over at 70, sell and buy a house on my own-- then yes I guess I live a privileged life. The real privilege I have had is having opportunities in life, growing up in a 2 parent home, my health, being in a supportive family and being a child of God.

Wow CIndy, I have watched you for about 3 years now and usually love listening to your show but this came off as entirely not the YOU I have been watching. I felt for Eric, especially after he spent $1,000 on tickets to the concert. I am on social security, and single and have to figure things out for myself all the time. I don't live a fancy lifestyle. I have rent and utilities and give my brother money every month because he gets barely enough to live on. I'm paying $5.19 a gallon for gas in WA so I limit where I travel to. I only buy the basics for food. When you don't have it you learn to conserve. I had $14 to my name two weeks before my next payday. You live an entirely different life than I do Cindy and that's ok. Just remember there are lots of people suffering right now because the economy is so bad so thank God you are better off than most and be grateful. I am my daughter's gardener because she cannot afford one. I enjoy it and she is working 7 days a week and overtime just to make her house payment and everything else. Be grateful Cindy. You are one of the luckier ones.

Cindy, I saw a side to you that’s not becoming. You’re college educated. You’ve decided to be a homeowner, a car owner, a golf cart owner, etc. It’s not the man’s responsibility to take care of your obligations. You need to spend time learning about the golf cart and other things you purchase and how to maintain them. I’m pretty sure it’s just something you don’t want to do, but in all fairness, this is something you should have given thought to before making these purchases. It’s nice that Eric is willing to help you but he certainly isn’t required to. He told you he didn’t unplug the golf cart but you insisted he did. Not cool! You’re behavior was not nice. Eric deserves an apology. How he tolerated you without blowing a casket makes me like him even more and certainly says something about his character. Too much drama for me! This is much ado about nothing! I’ve driven my car around for years with the air bag light on. Not that I recommend this but I know there’s something wrong with the electrical panel and I don’t feel like paying for it. Wow. I read the comments before watching the video and based on the comments I thought she was borderline abusive in the video and she was definitely not. I think many of you are jealous that this woman has been able to acquire a bit of wealth. What’s wrong with a senior person having something after years of working. I think that is a petty attitude. Sometimes people don't do extras like additional garden lights, replace golf cart batteries., when times are tight or we spread such luxury expenses out over a few months instead of considering them necessities.
Ownership of anything is maintenance...Life in general is maintenance that never ends. Extreme heat is hard on batteries. You should check your car battery too.

Cindy, just use Angies list to find an electrician. I used to use Homeadvisor but Angie bought them out. If you type Homeadvisor it still comes up it just added Angies name since she owns them now. I found a great electrician there and he has remained my electrician since I bought my house 7 yrs now. My second home. Divorced 15 yrs. Try them out if you haven’t and most importantly ALWAYS read their reviews. Then make a decision after you interview them. 👍🏼
A couple of thoughts: Maybe I’m a dinosaur but I would never pay $1000 to hear someone sing. Never! I would highly recommend you switch to a gas golf cart. No batteries to buy and charge. I’ve had both and gas golf carts are superior in my opinion. Your complaints about gas prices in California reminds me why I woulds’t live in California. I just paid $3.65 for 87 octane… not $6.00. However, I have zero mechanical ability (trust me, I’ve tried to acquire some!), and know nothing about cars, electronics, etc. So, for the typical guy who does have abilities in those areas, enjoys “fixing” things and wants to be of service to the lady in his life, I have no problem designating situations like this as a “man’s job”…should he have no problem addressing the task. I truly understand your frustration Cindy. I think there was a book awhile back titled, “Why the Help Won’t Help You”. Your “rant” reminded me of this ever pervasive fact about the society we live in today. Cheers to Eric. Your patience is admirable!

I laughed all the way through this video! Being the wife of a member of the military, he has been deployed 3 times to the Middle East for 14-18 months at a time. I had to figure all this stuff out by myself. It still amazes me that there are people that have no clue about this stuff. When you have a spouse in the military it’s just another day in the life!!

Agree. I'm a bit younger and will be working for at least another decade. Due to cancer I've become somewhat disabled. No pensions with working non-profits (my choice of work). So hiring someone to blow leaves around a tiny yard is ridiculous. IMO.
If you mean that since I worked my way through college, held my job for 34 years and took on extra work when more money was needed, suffered through personal tragedy so horrible I can’t even share it, went back to school as a mother to earn my masters degree so I would earn more and have a better retirement and offer more income to my family. Divorced my husband so I could find happiness, was left to sell and clean out my house of 34 years, help take care of my dying father of dementia, then my mother. Get her estate cleaned out and sold….. was left to start my life over at 70, sell and buy a house on my own-- then yes I guess I live a privileged life. The real privilege I have had is having opportunities in life, growing up in a 2 parent home, my health, being in a supportive family and being a child of God.

Wow CIndy, I have watched you for about 3 years now and usually love listening to your show but this came off as entirely not the YOU I have been watching. I felt for Eric, especially after he spent $1,000 on tickets to the concert. I am on social security, and single and have to figure things out for myself all the time. I don't live a fancy lifestyle. I have rent and utilities and give my brother money every month because he gets barely enough to live on. I'm paying $5.19 a gallon for gas in WA so I limit where I travel to. I only buy the basics for food. When you don't have it you learn to conserve. I had $14 to my name two weeks before my next payday. You live an entirely different life than I do Cindy and that's ok. Just remember there are lots of people suffering right now because the economy is so bad so thank God you are better off than most and be grateful. I am my daughter's gardener because she cannot afford one. I enjoy it and she is working 7 days a week and overtime just to make her house payment and everything else. Be grateful Cindy. You are one of the luckier ones.

Cindy, I saw a side to you that’s not becoming. You’re college educated. You’ve decided to be a homeowner, a car owner, a golf cart owner, etc. It’s not the man’s responsibility to take care of your obligations. You need to spend time learning about the golf cart and other things you purchase and how to maintain them. I’m pretty sure it’s just something you don’t want to do, but in all fairness, this is something you should have given thought to before making these purchases. It’s nice that Eric is willing to help you but he certainly isn’t required to. He told you he didn’t unplug the golf cart but you insisted he did. Not cool! You’re behavior was not nice. Eric deserves an apology. How he tolerated you without blowing a casket makes me like him even more and certainly says something about his character. His expressions are priceless and his patience with you is to be admired. Very kind, generous and thoughtful of him to take you to the concert. Try to work on the “poor me!” attitude. Too much drama for me! This is much ado about nothing! I’ve driven my car around for years with the air bag light on. Not that I recommend this but I know there’s something wrong with the electrical panel and I don’t feel like paying for it. Wow. I read the comments before watching the video and based on the comments I thought she was borderline abusive in the video and she was definitely not. I think many of you are jealous that this woman has been able to acquire a bit of wealth. What’s wrong with a senior person having something after years of working. I think that is a petty attitude. I agree that Eric is fantastic but he’s a grown man and fully capable of advocating for himself. She’s simply chatting on video about a frustrating week like we’ve all had and like you would with a friend. That type of video isn’t for everyone and that’s fine - so if it’s not for you, why watch it?
Sometimes people don't do extras like additional garden lights, replace golf cart batteries., when times are tight or we spread such luxury expenses out over a few months instead of considering them necessities.
Ownership of anything is maintenance...Life in general is maintenance that never ends. Extreme heat is hard on batteries. You should check your car battery too.

Cindy, just use Angies list to find an electrician. I used to use Homeadvisor but Angie bought them out.
If you type Homeadvisor it still comes up it just added Angies name since she owns them now.
I found a great electrician there and he has remained my electrician since I bought my house 7 yrs now. My second home. Divorced 15 yrs.
Try them out if you haven’t and most importantly ALWAYS read their reviews. Then make a decision after you interview them. 👍🏼

I would highly recommend you switch to a gas golf cart. No batteries to buy and charge. I’ve had both and gas golf carts are superior in my opinion.
Your complaints about gas prices in California reminds me why I woulds’t live in California. I just paid $3.65 for 87 octane… not $6.00. That’s for all the California taxes added on.
