BE PLANTED IN THE HOUSE OF GOD
“The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God” (Psalm 92:12-13 ).
It is one thing to give your life to Jesus but another thing to grow. It is God’s will that people should grow spiritually after accepting Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
1 Peter 2:2 says, “As new-born babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby”. A new believer feeds on milk until he/she can eat solid food. Paul said to the Corinthians, “ I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able” (1 Corinthians 3:2 ).
The writer of the Book of Hebrews also talks about milk for baby Christians and solid food for mature Christians. “ For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil” (Hebrews 5:12-14).
PSAL 28 To You will I cry, O LORD my Rock: do not be silent to me: With this opening to the psalm, David was both trusting and hopeful. In faith he gave God the title he longed for Him to fulfill: to be David’s Rock in the present season of difficulty. David said this also in hope, because at the moment he felt God to be silent to him.
ISAIAH 43:20 The LORD your Redeemer…the Holy One of Israel…your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King: In just these few verses, look at the glorious titles of God. In this passage, prophetically intended to comfort Israel in the midst of their Babylonian captivity, God powerfully put forth images of His own strength and power.
