I have a 1972 Ski doo Elan single cylinder that looks like brand new. Its barely been used and the engine and muffler still have all the black paint on it! It is so new looking I don't even want to use it cause I am afraid to damage it in anyway! I just keep it in my garage covered to remind me of my younger days in the 1970's when I had a lot of fun riding a snowmobile! Brings back great memories!
bahahaha!!! who needs ski's when u got an 18 inch wide track on that ol' Nordic! absolutely loved that. i popped my snow cherry on a 76 Elan 250, and even tho i have newer sleds for trips to Maine, i couldnt resist picking up a 71 Nordic last year. ive had trouble finding a track, but you've reignited my motivation. love your videos sir, be safe out there for the 2016 season!
Ha! That brings back memories. My first sled was a 1969 Ski Doo Olympic my dad bought me when I was 6 years old. I had one of the stinky gas smell jackets too. At 6 I road up so close to the engine that my jacket would get sucked into the carb.
back in 68 I rode a 399 Olympic for the first time - Snow-goer magazine was doing a review on Divide Mtn in Montana on the new 69 model year snowmobiles. I turned on the ignition switch and grabbed the starter rope and yanked that rope right out of the case. I was so used to pulling a 292 with high compression, I yanked too hard. I rode another 399 Olympic that day - most of the way up the east side of Divide Mtn. The reporter for the magazine interviewed me for 15 minutes. He was surprised I broke the first snowmobile - yanking the rope out of it. But was impressed with my athletic ability to ride up nearly vertical up the side of that mountain. Ah, those were the days - and only 11 years old too. Nice threads - btw. :)
Your a madman.... I love it... great attitude, stay happy my friend. I love my old stuff too. Theres a lot of satisfaction riding and running old equipment.
I own a 73 335 olimpique. A buddy of mine climbed off his shiny new cat and took it for a rip, when he got back, he looked me in the eye and told me "I see why you love these old things".
Old suckers worked like a tank. Loved my 71 399 Olympique ran that sled for 20yrs till i got a 2000 ZX 500lc then a 03 Rev600 a few yrs after that. Just a small upgrade in power. haha
+PowerModz i have a ? what size and lug track can i use on my 1990 polaris indy trail 488cc i put a rotax 640cc in it and its all over the place it takes drifting to a whole nother level lol
+Bailey Lauzon No. Old Forge is half way decent but my buddies didn't want to go this past weekend since the forecast for the trails wasn't that good and now I'm kind of busy for the next 2 weekends. Old Forge is over 3 hours away so we didn't want to make the long trip if the trails were bad. Still waiting at this point. We are getting another warm up until Sunday and cold again. Hopefully we get the snow then. Fingers crossed.
The forecast will be rain on Sunday for us, up where I ride is all snow fortunately, they need it up there. They started grooming but trails aren't in good condition. About 8-12 inches up there for a base and then probably another foot over the weekend so hopefully the trails get better. I ordered parts for my sled and they should be here by monday. I had cracked intake boots. We ended up taking out the zr 900.
My old man was an engineer for Kawasaki and he used to call it side hillin. He would take those thin traked ski doos and make them do anything he wanted them too.
The it ain’t snowmobiling unless your coat smells like gas line is pretty much my favorite thing ever.
No toque no neck warmer no winter boots yup this guy must definitely be Canadian
@Henkkaforgot to mention your feet if you push them in far enough.
