Landline phones still rock as I write this comment on my smartphone. I have one at work and it helps you to disconnect at lunch, in the lavatory and you can pretend to have already left when it rings after your day end.
The elegance of just picking up a receiver and putting it down after you are done is unmatched. Physical tactile buttons great. I am too young for the rotary ones but I find them too slow.
