3:50 That 'little stream' that goes out to the sea is the River Bourne, hence Bourne-mouth :-) .

As a Yorkshire lass I think anywhere along the Yorkshire Coast is the best especially Whitby, Saltburn and Scarborough for large seaside towns. As well as the much smaller Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes and Runswick Bay. They are all worth a visit

Absolute gem. Great holiday destination if you don't want to leave the country. I drove 2.5 hours each way and visited a few days ago with my wife and son, parked for 6 hours for a tenner, ate in town, took loads of pics with the family in the park, relaxed on the beach near the Pier under a umbrella. I actually like having a lot of people around as it gives me confidence going in to the water with lots of people around and life guards. The more lively it is, the better. The fact it is a sand beach is a bonus.

For about 7 or 8 summers in a row when I was a kid we used to travel down from Cumbria to Bournemouth for a 2 week holiday. Loved it there, fantastic beach. We tended to be closer to Poole & get a beach hut to use. Great to see that the crazy golf is still in the park, I used to play on there with my grandad, it was a lot of fun. Remember the park/gardens well, the seafront near the pier is very different from when I was last there. I don't think the Oceanarium was open & I see that is 25 years that it has been there. Great to reminisce, thanks for the video.

I absolutely love Bournemouth. Used to go every year as a kid (well, Poole, but visited Bournemouth). That park brings back so much nostalgia. Did they still have the little coloured jars with candles in that made up different objects?

Good morning both! I've only ever been to Bournemouth once and never saw theseaside attractions, I went fossil instead from the cliffs, wot a difference to Gt. Yarmouth! Obviously 'in season' as it were, but it looks a very 'genteel ' affair, surrounded by some delightful (expensive) villages. Your mention of the Harry Ramsden restaurant in your Yarmouth film, got me drawn to this location, there used to be one in the middle of London, but I've never been to either (assuming the London H.R. is still operating) hHope youise twose had a great time! The wind baffle on your mic makes such a difference to your narration (which is superb!) VBW x

My mum brought me to Bournemouth each year all my life. Since her passing I still come to Bournemouth for a long weekend or Red Arrows. But yes the change is quite remarkable. Especially when they built the bicycle centre. I would peek inside the building site but still remember the hotel that stood there. First hotel I remember is Mon Ami St Michael's Rd.

Cleethorpes is my local. It's had a facelift in recent years and its not so bad but it's connected to Grimsby so it can never be S tier.
I always had fond memories of visiting Newquay in Wales as a kid, watching the dolphins in the bay. No idea what it's like 25+ years later.

I've never been to Bournemouth, but I've never heard anything bad about it... However, my daughter is my carer, I'm disabled now and use a manual wheelchair - which my daughter pushes for me, and so as neither of us drives, I'd really need to know which seaside (or other) resorts are wheelchair / disabled accessable and able to be reached by public transport and / or disability accessable taxi cabs. 🤔😮🤔🧡🧡🖖

It was the best seaside town until it was engulfed by cultural enrichment, diversity, equity, inclusion, out-of-control immigration, hotels shut to the public and filled with illegals, and the poverty industry sucking in druggies and tramps from all across the country (and not just in Boscombe). Bournemouth is now a shabby, vandalised, dystopian landscape of criminality, especially the gangland area of Old Christchurch Road and Horseshoe Common. The sea itself is nice, though.
