But does make a good stills camera so far. In comparison to full frame it’s not as small as I thought it would be when I compared it to my brother in laws Sony A7iii.
I do like my a6700, and it had none of the overheating problems that have been talked about. I have owned it now for nearly two months. The only annoyance is that I have owned several of the Sony a6000 series cameras and have lost the eye cup at least once on most of them. I think I have decided to upgrade to this from my 6400 instead of going FF. I love my lenses and the 6400 has severed me very well for the few years I've had it. I only do photography and no video at all so hearing your review, especially as a 6400 user like you are, makes me feel like it's the right decision for me.

Can be a chore to assign custom settings to memory slots (1,2, 3, e.g.) because each memory bank retains the default settings. So, for instance, if you turn off AF assist light in a PASM set, it’s still on in memory 1,2,3 and M1, M2, M3 and M4. Cheers!

Absolutely loving the specs and ergo of this camera. As an Apsc Nikon z50 shooter i have grown out of it, However still looking for the small form factor of apsc bodies. I'm in the exact same boat as you, have you bought the a6700 yet? If so, how do you like its low light photo performance compared to Z50? Thinking of this upgrade due to Nikon's negligence of APSC lenses as well as IBIS and the autofocus system.
even this is hybrid camera, the A6700 comes "photo first" then " video", so it's very very good for photos, landscape, street, traveling.and to have a weather sealed is fantastic ( I mean XS20 doesn't have it)
Lovely video bro. This camera is what mirrorless started out to be. Now in it's 7th gen form this lineup finally has got there. Coupled with the amazing lens options it's one heck of a desirable cam❤❤

I am not making money out of photography (someday I wish I could) so budget is a consideration, and I don't think I need dual card slots at the moment, but I wonder if the low light performance will be that different from both cameras. I like to shoot wildlife and I shoot events where light is always a challenge. I currently shoot with a Canon T7i, I have no complaint from image quality, but I do feel the features of mirrorless camera would help me have more keepers (better auto focus, easier to change exposure settings because of multiple dials, etc). I've considered getting faster EF glass for the T7i but I don't want to make an investment on lenses I won't be able to use in a future camera whenever I upgrade (and no I don't want to use an adapter). hi curtis, great video! is the a6700 autofocus a game changer over a6400? I got from the video it's a really good upgrade over a6400, but would the number in focus of shots taken really significantly increase? in short I am trying to understand if this better autofocus can worth $1000 (if I sell the a6400 and buy the a6700 body) . Most other reviews, compared it to an a6600. They said, if you don't care about video, stick with the a6600. And that one has the same AF system as the a6400.
For me, the most important features of the 6700 compared to the 6400 are the stabilization and the fact that it does not lose its autofocus in digital zoom. The minuses would be that it does not have a built-in flash, and I like the flip-out screen more. 1000€ more is not worth it. I will remain at 6400.
I never use digital zoom so I couldn't even notice autofocus issues there. I wait for a6400's successor which should sell for around €850 instead of €1.500, it will surely pack the new autofocus and it will be eventually more compact than the a6700 while costing me few hundreds euros after selling the a6400 instead of €1.000. @@nicuchitineac1950
Don't underestimate just how good (fantastic) this camera is. This camera will give you excellent photos of family events or travel. I do it all the time. I prefer the aps-c camera due to its size, small lenses and over lower cost. The smaller lenses are just as good as the big full frame lenses, plus you have the added advantage of being able to use FF lens. This is a baby A7R5 in a smaller body with an aps-c sensor, which is the same one found in the FX-30 cinema camera by Sony. After 30 years of shooting film cameras, I have to say you will get better and sharper pictures with the a6700.
@nicuchitineac1950 i also have an a6300 and an a6400 if what you need is just stabilization then upgrade to a a6600 you can still buy new. The real upgrade on the a6700 is the dynamic range. From over 16 milion colours on the older 6000s to over ONE BILLION colours on the 6700.
Great video Curtis. I’ve been considering getting an APSC camera as a second camera and one to take on travels given the smaller build and cheaper cost. Think I might have to get one of these! Thanks for the info!
Great video padley ! I have a clothing startup and I want to do the photography part so which lens i should buy first along with this camera to save my butt.
Most of the time I'd use this camera for video and mostly in HD. I want the 18-135 lens option. However when used for photos do you have suggestions for a multi interface flash and a suitable lens shade? So far as a mic goes I am already using an ECM-B1M on a Sony camcorder.
Just came across you, been on the full frame vs ASP-C back and forth to buy as last camera was pretax SLR 35mm film camera, talk about old lol, I like the cheaper and smaller form factor and still much bigger sensor than my smart phone😎😎
6700 or alpha cii Between them I am turning a blind eye to the cost but I won't be buying new lenses coming from a m50 mkii Shall be on stock lens for a while ...kindly suggest which to buy ? I prefer a point and shoot and get good pics don't really have time for editing honestly speaking ...Thanks in Advance
Do you know if Sony removed the multi frame noise reduction setting for this camera (which I believe was present and very useful on all their other a6xx cameras)? Thanks!
I have a Sony A6400 with a Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 lens and I'm planning to start shooting talking head videos indoors. I'm considering replacing the Sony A6400 with either the Sony FX30, Sony A6700, or Sony A7C II, but I'm totally confused about which one to choose. I haven’t shot any videos yet. Could you please guide me on which camera would be the best option?
From my limited understanding, FX30 & a6700 share a lot in common. The FX30 is geared more toward videos, with an added fan for cooking, whereas the a6700 had the edge in still photography. a7CII is a different beast altogether. Unlike the a6700 and the FX30 which have an APS-C sensor, the a7CII sports a full-frame sensor. So the right question is are you in need of a full-frame sensor? It is better for night photography and if you will be doing a lot of cropping, but unless the size of the camera is a factor, for the price of the a7CII, you are already in the territory of the other Sony full-frame cameras that offer you better ergonomics and more features. One more thing, the price, size and weight of APS-C lenses is far below the full-frame lenses. The crop sensor cameras are lighter, easier to carry, have smaller lenses and for most people are plenty enough. I how this helps
yeah Curtis, the form factor okay...but i liked to choose, a bigger aps-c camera like in a A7rv body I like a good EVF... but the location of the viewfinder, I prefer an evf at the top in the middle and yes a joystick would be nice.... two bodys a smaller like the A6700 and a bigger one, I have a A6600 but i prefer my A9 body and a lcd as the A7rv
The form factor is ideal and perfect for who it is aimed at. All APS-C cameras tend to be smaller then Fullframe equivalents and that's not just unique for Sony cameras.
I personally believe the best apsc cameras are made by Sony. Simple, cheap, best lens system out there and the video features are great for the cost you pay for such a solid hybrid camera. I like fujis too though.
Help!! Hi buddy love the videos and photos I have Sony a6400 along with sigma 18-50mm f2/8 30mm f1/4 and 56mm f1/4 I do street and travel photography no video at all . I think I might get Sony a6700 I have nearly £2000 to spend or should I go full frame or will I be happy with a6700 and not have to buy all new lens plus my partner has her eye on my a6400 so can’t even sell it to buy new lens if I go full frame cheers Phil
I wanted to ask you about camera brand and model to restart in boudoir photography, streetphotography, landscape. I have not photographed since the pandemic and I have sold all my equipment, which you recommend for a maximum budget of €2,500 including an f2.8 lens. Thank you in advance.
Some of the features you want this a6700 t9 have like the joystick is the exact reason why this is different than the a7 lines (besides apsc of course). If it had all those features you'd like to see, there would be no reason to get it and instead stick to FF A7 line.
It is good explanations that most of my considering points has been dig out. I'm using a6000 and ZV-E10 then considering to switch to Canon Full Size or stay on Sony APS-C to utilize my all APS-C lens collections. So now 70% of my motivation is go for a6700 lol. Thanks for good references in good timing.
Glad you enjoyed the video and you found it helpful. It's kinda crazy that I would often recommend this A6700 over some fullframes like the A7III and heck maybe even the A7IV. Sony really powercharged this camera for both photography and filmmaking! If you get the A6700 hope you enjoy creating with it! :)
@@CurtisPadley Hey, finally got a6700! Already took some photos and videos. The quality of images are super nice of course but usability of the body improved 2~3 steps ahead than my ZV-E10. Now I can say I made good choice and also glad to view this video for making decision. Thanks again.
I just can't decide, will have to rent an A7C and this little guy for a hands on test. The a6700 cost as much as a mint condition used A7c + lenses in Europe. They are also the same weight and size. Depending on what lenses you're getting, the setup is the same weight as well (mainly primes). That Sigma 18-50 alone could hold me on APSC probably. I wasn't impressed with it on my a6000 though, so trying it out on the a6700 again.
@@CurtisPadley Viltrox 75mm f1.2 vs Sigma 56mm f1.4 would be the best content as it's very unique on youtube only few videos so don't wase your time on popular reviews
I'm really torn between the XT-5 and the A6700. I really like the offered 4k120 of the a6700, but am not sure if I really need it. I plan on using the camera I buy for travel photography and videography as well as some personal projects. The XT-5 is attractive cause of the 40 mp sensor over the 26 of the Sony, I'm not sure how big the different actually is. The Fuji also offers the 6,2k30, but lacks autofocus quality which I assume is very useful for street and travel work, especially as a beginner which I am. Is there anything I might be missing? From what I am hearing and reading, the Fuji is more taylored towards stills shooters and the Sony is a true hybrid. I would be thankful for any input anyone of you might give, as I really want to decide for what truly is better for said purpose. Cheers, and thank you a lot Curtis for you great Videos. Cheers from Germany, Kian
I own a fuji xh2. Autofocus is fantastic. I shot a fuji xh2 and sony a7iv for a commercial project, and I kept stopping and saying I couldn't believe how close the Autofocus really was. Don't listen to reviews. Try them both out. I've shot corporate training videos and commercials with Autofocus on fuji xh2. No question that sony Autofocus tracking is impressive. It really it. its a neat camera.. but best for photography?.. i doubt it. im not a pro, but im sure many with argue even an xt2 is better. why would the new sensor and features make it best for photography? what's so special in a 26mp sensor vs an older 24, aside the less rolling shutter? and the newly added features in what i saw are video-related.. maybe af would be like.. best, but i it seems overly enthusiastic calling it best camera for photography.. maybe best hybrid, rather..

Beautiful Photos and a nice Camera. Hoping to have it in the future.
Thanks mate! Hopefully you can get one in the future! 🤙
Great video Curtis. I’ve been considering getting an APSC camera as a second camera and one to take on travels given the smaller build and cheaper cost. Think I might have to get one of these! Thanks for the info!
What about fujifilm's APS-C lineup like the X-H2s or the X-T5?
Please tell me how you got a red shutter button on your a6700.👏
Great review! I'm curious about the red shutter button.
Thanks mate! There is a link in description for it. Hope that helps :)
how did you install the red button?
Great video padley !
I have a clothing startup and I want to do the photography part so which lens i should buy first along with this camera to save my butt.
What would you choose between a6700 and a7c ?
Most of the time I'd use this camera for video and mostly in HD. I want the 18-135 lens option. However when used for photos do you have suggestions for a multi interface flash and a suitable lens shade? So far as a mic goes I am already using an ECM-B1M on a Sony camcorder.
Hi Curtis, can you please provide what LUTs you are using to colorize videos with a6700?
I would appreciate it!
Thank you
I just got mine as well with the new sigma 10-18 and the 24-70 on the way :) you made a wonderful choice. I came from the A6100
Thats an awesome setup! Hope you are enjoying it mate :)
Saving up money to buy this and the sigma lens combo 🫡 almost there!! And i cant wait
Is it true that at 4k 60 fps it has a crop of 1.04x?
Hi Curtis! Good review…Regarding video only, which one do you think is better…Sony A6700 or Iphone 15 pro Max??
Thank you! Sony A6700 trumps an IPhone easily
Great video! Can you give me a link to that red camera button you have? Thanks
How can I make my button red on my 6700❓❓❓❓❓❓❓
Just came across you, been on the full frame vs ASP-C back and forth to buy as last camera was pretax SLR 35mm film camera, talk about old lol, I like the cheaper and smaller form factor and still much bigger sensor than my smart phone😎😎
6700 or alpha cii
Between them I am turning a blind eye to the cost but I won't be buying new lenses coming from a m50 mkii
Shall be on stock lens for a while ...kindly suggest which to buy ? I prefer a point and shoot and get good pics don't really have time for editing honestly speaking ...Thanks in Advance
I am thinking of switching to this beast, would you say it's worth it from the sony zve10 ?
Absolutely mate! 🤙
@@CurtisPadley Now I made the switch and It is a massive difference. @CurtisPadley
Do you know if Sony removed the multi frame noise reduction setting for this camera (which I believe was present and very useful on all their other a6xx cameras)? Thanks!
I didn't. I have one a6300 and one a6400. I want to go upgrade, but i still not sure.
May I know what wrist strap are you using?
Why is your shutter button red?
Can I mount a Rode videomic pro+ on the top of this?
How did you replace the shutter button?
@@ibrahimabaza776 thank you
yeah Curtis, the form factor okay...but i liked to choose, a bigger aps-c camera like in a A7rv body I like a good EVF...
but the location of the viewfinder, I prefer an evf at the top in the middle and yes a joystick would be nice....
two bodys a smaller like the A6700 and a bigger one, I have a A6600 but i prefer my A9 body and a lcd as the A7rv
How did you remove the original shutter button to replace with the red shutter button?
It's a stick on
How did you change your shutter button out? This would be a dope video to make
Simple attachment you can buy on amazon, left a link in description hope that helps! ✌️
What about the stabilization for videos..., same like Sony A7CII or Sony A6600 camera?
It's pretty much the same system as the A7CII. As I mentioned its nothing new from Sony, hope that answers your question ✌️
Do you have any discounts on your presets codes?
Very good video Sir. Really liked this video 👍
Ayyyy thanks mate appreciate that! 🤙
I feel like this the camera for me. Hybrid and perfect starter one
Absolutely! What a brilliant camera to get started with! 🔥
If you get the chance take the A6700 out with the Sony 20mm 1.8.
I wish it had a built in flash , that will fulfill everything ❤️
I just can't decide, will have to rent an A7C and this little guy for a hands on test. The a6700 cost as much as a mint condition used A7c + lenses in Europe. They are also the same weight and size. Depending on what lenses you're getting, the setup is the same weight as well (mainly primes). That Sigma 18-50 alone could hold me on APSC probably. I wasn't impressed with it on my a6000 though, so trying it out on the a6700 again.
video on a6700 is way better, but if you want the best IQ for still go for A7C
Wht should I buy A6700 or Sony A73
Buy this, I have the a73 and regret buying it last year every day. Wish I got the a74 instead.
I’m grabbing this shortly though
Can you review the Sigma 10-18mm F2.8 on the A6700?
I've just got my hands on this lens and have the A6700 for another week, I'll try my best to put somthing together! 🙏
@@CurtisPadley Viltrox 75mm f1.2 vs Sigma 56mm f1.4 would be the best content as it's very unique on youtube only few videos so don't wase your time on popular reviews
i am interested to know about the eye piece you using for 6700.. can you please share the link for it, if anyone has?
It's just the standard eye piece as far as I'm aware mate ✌️
Today i will get mine . There is no silicon cover available anywhere. may be it is new thats y
Cheers from Germany,
Kian
try checking the sony a7c or a7III.
@@unbloodz1584 thanks for the answer, just took the shoot on a good offer for the 6700
I own a fuji xh2. But... it's not the night and day difference people make it out to be from other systems.
@@mattz9569 thanks a lot for your input, that's interesting to hear. I already bought the a6700 and I'm super happy with it, so that is out of question. It's still interesting to hear personal reviews from people like you though,so thank you again!
i’ve got this camera but it’s doesn’t have that red shutter button 😮
Left a link for the red shutter attachment in the description hope that helps! ✌️
its a neat camera.. but best for photography?.. i doubt it. im not a pro, but im sure many with argue even an xt2 is better. why would the new sensor and features make it best for photography? what's so special in a 26mp sensor vs an older 24, aside the less rolling shutter? and the newly added features in what i saw are video-related.. maybe af would be like.. best, but i it seems overly enthusiastic calling it best camera for photography.. maybe best hybrid, rather..
Yes it's one of the best APS-C cameras for photography and video currently on the market. At the end of the day both the XT2 and A6700 are brilliant cameras but I prefer the A6700, that's my opinion. It won't be shifted because of your comment.
Lensa name?
It’s amazing that the Osmo is comparable to this. 😊
Liked and subscribed!. 🥂
Would you guys risk using this for professional work? Specifically photography work?
Hmmm why wouldn't you? 🤔 I mean i literally used it for a client shoot and it was awesome!
@@CurtisPadley being used to full frame would you say you miss it quickly when going back to using a apsc camera?
@@CurtisPadley because it doesnt have dual SD card reader
Only thing missing on it is a Double SD slot
Everything is beautiful but just 2 more megapixels over provious version and same 11fps is some kind of joking to me. Canon R7 is my choice.
6:15 Even though you making a joke thats the proper term lol but the puns were hilarious! You are taking "Shots" with a camera sometimes in "burst" mode. you dont putt a camera or ride it. ijs lol you find your target and take a shot!
a6700 is a beast, but I don't think it's the best APSC camera. Best on Sony for sure.
I hope soon very soon I become owner of A6700 but my A6000 stays also with me.
If you want dual cards slot get a full frame Sony stop complaining, that’s why this is a compact mirrorless it’s call compact for a reason.
@@Kxiong.1 Not complaining making an observation. Here’s another. The Canon R70 is a compact APS-C mirrorless camera and that has dual SD card slots. That’s a close rival to this camera.
Damn, I miss my Sigma 1850.
A6700 vs Fuji X100VI
Now do zve10ii hehe
I’m actually really not that impressed by the ZVE10II the A6700 still remains the perfect hybrid APSC camera in my opinion
1 year later, still not affordable T.T
go apply installment plan
Amazing video! Damn, got me thinking about making the upgrade jump from my a6400! 😅
Thanks mate! It would be a brilliant upgrade from A6400 honestly.
Great camera, awful viewfinder, overheating, low-res lcd, the fan gets in the way.. sold my two and went for two Fx30...welcome to the light I told myself!
Mope for ME the canon R7 is better
