RIDING WITH RICKY RUDD ON THE NEW CHARLOTTE ROVAL

- The Charlotte ROVAL race will have a new configuration for the fall 2024 race and today I got a ride along in a Toyota Camry with NASCAR Legend Ricky Rudd.
Rudd was the premiere road course ace during his era in NASCAR and I was curious what he thought about the ROVAL, the reconfiguration and also, how he became so good at road racing.
Very cool, Ricky is my all time favorite driver been a fan of his since 1983 when I was 3 and be so cool to meet him one day. Awesome to see him wearing that HOF short so we deserved and so happy he got in this year.
He's still got it. Good to see him doing well.

Oh my gosh I hope Ricky gets more into iRacing! That's one dude I would absolutely be thrilled to race against.
Awesome !!! Great to hear Ricky describe how his kart racing and Bondurant lessons helped him become the GREAT road racer he was/is... I remember to me Ricky always seemed like ' the bulldog but gentleman' driver (think Cale Yarborough) - this made it soooo easy to love him / cheer for him as a kid!!! Only thing better here would be if this could somehow magically have been filmed with him strapped into one of the actual race-ready and beautifullly-prepared #5 Tide Luminas with all that 800 HP and sound!! Well we can always dream...
Ricky Rudd is a legend and one of my all time favorite drivers! I always felt had he of had the right team, he could of won a few titles and more races. I am thinking hearing him mentioning iRacing that he might do that when he has time possibly! Long live the rooster and congrats on being inducted at last into the Nascar Hall of Fame!
So cool to see ricky rudd in a car again..I love this track.. I race it all the time when I'm doing iracing. I wonder if they're going to change it there also.

1:23 ...these new cars rarely wheel now hop due to the independent rear suspension.
Locking up is more likely with a sequential gearbox and IRS. The brakes and gearbox are so much better than the old set-up where you had to match revs perfectly to shift and brake.
We are liking Carl Edward’s for our best all time driver. He has the skills and experience to make a great driver for training others. And he has that look about him that says don’t mess with me.
New layout actually seems pretty sweet. Im sure they’ll change it but that runoff area on the exit of turn 5 scares me. High speed and if you get it wrong, you’re going off a cliff into a chain link fence?

What's up with the big video screen on the back stretch, at the 2:51 mark? It looks like all of the panels are missing; you can see right through it.

Ricky Rudd was always good on the road courses.
But are they gonna have advertising signs in the grass like they do every year? Who's gonna hit one of those sponsor signs and "pick up a sponsor"?
They need to get rid of those signs.
Not a huge fan of the change, but think it is too lead to maybe more passing possibly by slowing them up.
Give the man a rwd for crying out loud
