By far the best interview of Doctor Harris.

I'm obsessed with the story of the Thai Cave Rescue and read or watch everything I find about it; that's no doubt why this popped up on my feed. I have to say I was very impressed by this interview. Dr. Shankar was obviously well prepared and asked perceptive and intelligent questions. Dr. Harris has told his stories many times and I've heard some of them word-for-word several times before, but Dr Shankar managed to elicit deeper and more enlightening responses from him, by knowing what she was talking about and encouraging him to go a little deeper into his feelings and his perceptions of the extraordinary events he was involved in. That made this podcast more valuable and interesting than I expected. Very well done--thank you.

Dr Harry and the British divers at pointy end of this rescue have all shown such humility. They baulk at the idea that they are heroes and credit the success of the rescue to all the agencies and volunteers involved and the courage of the boys and their coach who remained calm and steadfast never giving up hope. Overall you have to say humanity at its best - maybe we're not so bad after all.

The mark of a true hero, giving credit to others. Real heroes really are self-effacing. They’re not even faking that.
Remarkable to hear about how difficult this really was, all the decisions along the way. Incredible moral and physical courage.

"We often assess the quality of our decisions based on their outcomes, not on the quality of the decision-making process."
Such a perceptive encapsulation of the situation the rescue divers were dealing with. What an impressive interviewer. And an even more impressive Doctor. We're so ready to judge clinicians if things go wrong, but we aren't the ones who have to step up to the plate and make a choice under such fraught circumstances. What a great conversation.

She asks good questions and lets him speak.
Really good interview. I learned a lot I didn’t know, even having listened to as much as I could find elsewhere.
