+Evan Edinger it's so refreshing to watch someone who can actually discuss his political or religious views, and at the same time have the best sense of humour ever
I'm actually with Dodie on this one. If I see a say 5-10 minute video with a title that I find interesting, and then it turns out to be a q&a, I often click back off it. If the title question is that interesting I want the whole video about it and a short answer to it feels very disappointing so I don't bother. I prefer when youtubers will at least put "Q&A" in the thumbnail. Doesn't even have to be in the title, just gotta have some indication of what the video is actually gonna be.
Just to add, I would watch a q&a if it was titled or thumbnailed as such. But if I am expecting something else and it turns out to be a q&a I just don't really tend to bother because it's a bit of a disappointment.
I do really agree with what Dodie says at 2:40. I feel like when a Q and A is titled with one question it is, honestly, a bit of a lie. I want to see a full video about something, not a one minute answer.
THIS. I rarely watch Evans q&as because I enjoy his other videos more so when the title looks like it's going to be a sit down chat about something serious, I always get disappointed to hear "hi, welcome to another q&a"
I don't like clickbait when they do it for every video and it's completely not even close to what the actual content is. I found your title of that video funny bc it was obviously playing off how ppl are still trying to create drama and make a mountain out of a molehill.
I've only been watching him for literally a day and saw it as a joke i mean like i just assume something is clickbait when it's in all caps or has THE TRUTH or NOT CLICKBAIT or something of the sort like it's really easy to tell what's clickbait so why get mad over it when you like the persons content. for instance sourcefed and Philip defranco use a clickbait title and thumbnail for literally every video and i still enjoy going back and watching them cause i like what they make. i dunno i just saw nothing wrong with it and laughed my ass off when i got to that part of the video so i don't see what all the fuss is about.
I totally agree with you, Dodie. I feel almost betrayed (strong word I know) when I see click bait titles and then the content is usually another boring q&a or video where the title is relevant to about 3 seconds of the entire thing. It makes me role my eyes and click straight off because it's a youtuber being dishonest. If I like the youtuber then I will go and find the information relevant to the click bait but for the most part I click off. A great example is trisha paytas, I used to love her videos but she is the biggest example of the boy who cried wolf that I can't watch because it's compulsive lying and click bait.
Just to add, I watched that video and wasn't at all annoyed at the click bait because I know you and Dodie are still best friends therefore there's not going to be big drama shiz going on people are being dramatic 🙄
I feel the same way. I even unsubscribed from joey graceffa, because his titles annoyed the hell out of me. I still like him tho, i follow him on insta and twitter, but i'll probably never subscribe again :'(
regardless of my opinion of clickbait, i rlly liked the whole "talk it out and respect each others' opinion" vibe of this video. so much drama (between both youtubers' and their fanbases) would be avoided if people sat down together and talked about their problems (which r usually either misunderstandings or, in this case, a minor conflict of morality) on camera. i hope this becomes the newest yt video trend tbh
To those of you saying Evan would barely let Dodie speak and kept interrupting her: normally, I'd be slightly irritated as well considering how much I enjoy Dodie's content and would like her voice (and all women's voices) to be heard. However, I believe Evan kept interjecting because he felt the need to explain himself so his viewers would understand why he did what he did. I think he just wanted to get his point across so his viewers knew he wasn't trying to snub them, because I'm sure that's the last thing he'd want to do. Human nature I guess, to feel the need to explain yourself when you've mucked up a bit. Summary: I don't think it was out of a sense of entitlement, but rather the a bit of an impatient need to communicate to his audience.
I agree with Dodie for the most part. But i wish she would've had more freedom to voice her opinion without Evan having to constantly add on or immediately defend himself. I love the both of you very much.x
to be honest I'm with dodie. I hate clickbait. I just really value honestly and creatively, and doing extra/kinda misleading shit purely for views just puts me off. I almost unsubscribed from you bc I was annoyed with the clickbait tbh, but I couldn't do it just bc I love you as a person so much.
I really like when the title gives a teaser for multiple parts of the Q & A. For example: "Dovan's Flat, Relationaships, and Food! [Q&A]" Because that gives me a better idea of what the video is about, and helps me decide if I really want to watch. And each subject may only be addressed for a total of one min, but that's still 3 mins of a (let's say) 10 minn video, so I don't feel ripped off :)
Evan, it does actually really piss me off when I click on a video only to find that it's a Q&A and the thing I initially was interested in is 3 minutes into the video.
is it just me but does dodie look incredibly gorgeous in this video? she always is, but in this video especially? i also really like both evan and dodie's outfits in this video because i feel like they lowkey compliment each other quite nicely
Honestly, I would prefer it if it was titled with the original title, but Q&A was also in the title. For people who aren't fully acquainted with upload schedules etc, it's far better, and gets rid of the possible trick that people may get.
I never believed clickbait was honestly that bad as long as the video was quality content...TH-cam creators need to make money and get views somehow. As Evan said, Casey often uses it and yet most people don't mind.
Check lance Stewart he uses click bait every video without fail and it's always about his girlfriend I've stopped watching him it annoys me he has to use click bait every time
I agree with Dodie... I just think if people make a Q&A, they should put Q&A in the title- I don't think I watched your "am I religious?" vid (sorry) because I didn't want to watch what I thought was a 10 minute video about your religion. Idk that's just me
And I'm the opposite, I watched that video in hopes of ten minutes discussing his religion. I wish more youtubers would put q&a in the title, it can be really annoying
And I agree with Dodie that something like that would be an interesting video to watch if it was done tastefully...but I think QA should be in the titles of QAs.
I agree with all of you. I'm not really going to repeat what three of you commenters have already said but to add my part in.... ...I was slightly disappointed when I clicked on the 'Am I religious?' video and saw it was a Q&A. What I have realised with other TH-camr Q+A's is that they often answer the question of the video title towards the end of the video, so what I usually do, is I skip past most of the video until the end to get to the bit I want. I understand why TH-camrs do it, but I find it annoying when it's not specified it's not a Q+A, so sometimes when i'm impatient, I wont even bother watch the video.
To clarify though, I don't have a problem with click bait... click bait is inevitable to get your viewers in. Tv, Radio, TH-cam... its all advertising for a product so of course you're trying to get that attention.... It's how you do it though. Are you promoting what the audience will be getting? Is it overused rehash? That's when the issues start.
I don't understand why the consensus seems to be that Q&As are somehow less good content or boring and therefore that having "Q&A" in the title would get fewer views. I love Q&As! All the TH-camrs I watch make really interesting and entertaining Q&As. I even go as far as to seek out Q&As to watch. Is that just me?
one of the most annoying things are reading an interesting title, clicking on the video and hearing "so today we are doing a qna :D!" i instantly click away.
i like qna's but only from certain youtubers i LOVE. these people are alright. but i dont want them to force their content on me. it looks so money hungry. very unappealing
I wouldn't say Q&A are less quality content, but knowing myself I don't watch them, because I don't enjoy them that much (same as challenges/tags for example). So as Dodie said, I see interesting title but when I find it's Q&A, I'll click away 90 % of the time. It's just a matter of a preference. Doesn't mean I can't enjoy other videos and segments that these creators make.
I want to know I'm going to be watching a Q&A. I love them, and would love for 'Q&A' to be in the title. Otherwise, I am disappointed when I find that the video is a Q&A because I was expecting a video about the title.
I love your friendship :) it's so wonderful just to see two people just being friends and being happy and supportive of each other with no strings or other silly stuff
I think the main reason people freaked out about the clickbait title is because it's out of the ordinary. It's like the "bed of nails" idea. One nail will pierce the skin, but if you have enough, no one nail stands out. When I see a Philip DeFranco or Casey Neistat title with clickbait it doesn't make me worry because I know it's just going to be a normal video. When I see it on a channel that almost never has clickbait, it actually causes concern.
I think we all need to stop taking titles so serious.... Lets just get on with it and enjoy the videos that people work hard on.. Ive gotten to the point where I dont take much notice of what the video is called because of clickbait :))
If a title really isn't that important in the first place, then why go to the trouble of making it so clickbait-y? I agree that the content is important, but I think it says something about the morality of the creator when what is represented in the title is not delivered within the content. As an audience member, I don't like being tricked into watching. If you're confident enough in the quality of your content, then you shouldn't feel the need to trick people into watching. There's a difference between pulling an interesting segment out of the video to use as an eye-grabbing title, and almost manufacturing something just to use as clickbait.
I knew it was click bait but half of me was still hoping it is but every time I fall for it I just think it's hilarious and it's not like the video was awful to watch, it was pretty interesting I enjoyed it.
if I'm not a full on subscriber to someone and I watch them casually, I do pay attention to the title. If it's subject matter that I'm interested in then I will watch it because I like that person's personality and the way they deliver the information. But not every video subject they put out interests me. And if they tend to use clickbaity titles or arnt clear on whether it's a Q&A or certain type of video I'm less likely to click or stay through the entire video. I don't know their schedule or check twitter etc. I mean, I don't really do that for channels I Am subscribed to. I don't pay attention to titles of people I'm subscribed to that I watch consistently, past a hint at the content or what game a let's player is playing and if I am up to date on that particular series. So titles are important, but less so when you are an avid fan versus just a casual fan.
I agree with Dodie on this. I'm always a little disappointed when a video's title doesn't indicate that it's a Q&A, and then it is. I don't actively try to avoid Q&A's or anything, but I like to know what I'm signing up for. I get excited to see you talk about a certain topic for ten minutes, and then you spend about one minute on it.
you kind of have to though. i subscribe to so many i tend to click on the content i think i'll find the most interesting. clicking on what looks like a really great video then finding out it's another q&a is disappointing when it isn't mentioned in the title
I mean... the way someone presents a piece of content (doesn't matter if it's online or offline) is ALWAYS a strategy, it's always intentional. Branding and marketing exist for a reason, if titles or design or presentation of any kind didn't matter to consumers I don't think we woud be having this conversation to begin with.
Kelly LaFontaine But if you're not a regular to a certain youtuber videos then you wouldn't? Honestly I always watch Evan's videos and it caught me out that one as well. Granted it struck me out as a very obvious clickbait title before I watched it so when It was his Q&A I wasn't really surprised. Just think it wouldn't hurt to put (Q&A) in brackets after the click bait title.
here's one view: you said that in Q&As you had to title the video using one of the questions, but people don't KNOW that it is a Q&A if you don't say so. They click on it expecting to get a 9 minute video talking about religion or Dodie moving out, then there's less than a minute of that topic. I'm not saying there's a massive problem with clickbaity titles, but if you put #askevan or "Q&A" in the title of the video, then people would watch it without being disappointed that it wasn't a full video about that topic. hope you read this :)
the thing is, if i know i like a youtuber, and their content, i really dont care what the title is. clickbait is still kinda annoying, but there are bigger problems, so i dont really care. i watched evan's clickbaity video, and i honestly didnt really take note of the title, i just like his content.
One of the things I like most about your videos Evan is that you are open and honest about your thoughts and feelings. This is why I think some of your fans are frustrated because we have watched and listened to your opinions and care about what you think of sensitive subjects so feel cheated when you don't pay much attention to the question you've posed like 'am I religious' I agree with dodie that I'd rather see a video labelled with a title that reflects what is in the video so I know what to expect. Or maybe just move the question in the title up to the front of the video so that you reward your viewers straight away rather than going off on so many tangents. Don't lose heart, I think you're pretty awesome so please keep doing what you're doing! Emma
Do you ever just see an interesting title and you just KNOW it's clickbait, yet your curiousity gets the better of you and eventhough half of your brain goes DON'T CLICK IT, YOU KNOW IT'S CLICKBAIT, two seconds later you have already clicked it and as soon as the video starts you're like, yep, knew it.
sometimes I find clickbait on q&as annoying (like I do what dodie said, see something interesting, open the video, realize it's a Q&A and then close the video) but I'm fine if they add a clickbait title but add (Q&A) or something like that at the end. like what Emma Blackery does.
it doesn't even matter really. you enjoyed the video, so it shouldn't matter what the title is. in retrospect all titles are clickbate, cos they are all designed to catch someone's eye.....
+Evan Edinger all you did was realise that if you put that as your title people would be drawn to your video. like you do every week... people are only complaining cos you didn't give them the answer they wanted. this is your business, you're here to make money, View = money, so you're gonna make a catchy title. people need to realise that and more on and just enjoy your videos
I consider clickbait to be a video with a misleading title. That's why it leads to disappointment, because the title sets up certain expectations in the viewer's head and then the video fails to deliver what the title promised. Usually clickbait does include an eye-catching title, but it's not so much about the title as it is about whether or not the title matches the content. (I had no problem with last week's video by the way, even though I am against clickbait. To me it was very obviously a joke because Evan doesn't do that kind of content.)
I watched a vlog by a certain British youtuber once called 'partying with Kyle Jenner' or something along those lines. They were at coachella and there was a 3 second clip of kylie Jenner away in a crowd, and I have not watched their videos since
Evan, I think that you're sort of trivializing people's negative responses to that video. I disliked it. This wasn't because I couldn't appreciate your ironic title or because I wanted to hear some hot gossip. That's a little insulting, honestly. I disliked it because I didn't think that there was an issue with you and Dodie, I thought that you had both been very transparent about the whole thing. I got upset because the title made me concerned that there WAS something wrong between you and Dodie, but it was just clickbait. It's like when one of your friends makes you think they're hurt or in trouble and it's just a prank. Not cool. Don't get upset because some of us didn't think your joke was that funny, especially when it stemmed from a place of genuine concern for you both.
I think this was ultimately my problem with this as well. I was genuinely worried that there was a problem between the two so I watched to the end (which I don't really do with most q&a videos.) so when I got to the end I realized Evan was just trolling, I was more disappointed I guess than angry. I didn't know that so many people we're upset by it but I can understand why. There's always a chance for clickbait to feel like a betrayal (for lack of a better term.)
okay I did come here for the puns, but I kinda grew out of liking them so it is a let down as a subscriber to keep clicking videos that look like interesting discussions (which you do very good on this channel occasionally) and get a Q and A. because it personally isn't a good video to me. it makes me want to stop clicking on videos because I'll just end up in another q and a
completely agree with dodie on this one, it's actually so annoying finding an interesting looking video and then realising the video is a q&a/daily vlog
FWIW, I had not heard the "real" answer prior to this vid, so I'm guessing that applies to others as well. And I'm completely with Dodie on quality content creation standing on its own. This is why I'm subscribed to her: she's real, she's humble, she's practical in an age of so much facade and egotism.
I don't mind clickbait as long as what they say actually happens...more often though it's like "GOT IN A CAR ACCIDENT" and it's something totally BS like they walked into a parked car or something. I prefer honest titles. Dan Howell is a good example. He titles it what is, and the content speaks for itself.
When I saw the title last week I just thought, oh you, I knew it was just your humour and a Q&A, I guess people that don't watch you guys as much might not of. I think click bait generally is annoying and purposely avoid it because it's usually disappointing, especially articles, but with you I know the click bait is just another joke so I don't mind at all. Honestly I would and do watch anything you make because I like you as a person and your puns and your videos always make me smile I mean I've been watching your videos for years so yeah, and Dodie too you're so talented and genuine and lovely, you two are definitely up there as favourites, thank you for your videos they definitely improve my days :)
What Dodie said was legitimately what I did I like Evan's videos and I watch them regularly. I saw the title, I was like,"oh, okay" and when he said,"q and a" and just went "oh, well" and clicked on some other video in the recommendations. Idk it's not for me, but it doesn't really change anything 😂
People call everything clickbait these days. That's annoying in itself. If the content is in the video, I don't consider it clickbait. Apparently, that's just me.
I guess your viewers hold you to a higher standard than Casey Niestat, lol! So you better knock it off! :D By the way, I couldn't get past the impression that Dodie put you in time out for this transgression. :D
My opinion is i guess for us viewers youtube is really special. You get to connect with a creator in ways that other forms of media just don't really allow. Your personality is shown throughout your videos and in turn this makes viewers have an opinion. When you get a regular viewer sometimes those feelings gorw and you develop his true care for the creator and yeah you start to trust them in ways. It feels almost like a friendship but obviously its not as strong as that for the creator because they don't see this ONE reaction they see so many so its like a collective group of people for you when its one for us. When someone uses clickbait specifically a youtuber you love and have developed this care for it almost feels like a betrayal in a way to us especially when it's a youtuber you didn't expect to do it. Honestly all i want is youtubers to be honest (no well it wasn't a lie stuff) about the content they have made. If it's a Q&A put that in the title or thumbnail as well as some
Interesting questions that were asked. All we really want is to have that connection and good content. It hurts a little bit when the connection or content isnt as strong as you are used to i guess. Nevertheless love you evan and dodie
Dodie was understandably upset but she doesn't really have the right to tell you that your Q&A titles are shitty and click baity. I know she means well but just keep doing what you think is best for your brand and friendship evan. Peace to all of you.
I completely agree with you Evan! The click-bait was NOwhere as bad as some people do it. Upon watching the video myself, I realised it was an ironic joke fitted to your sense of humour and I thought it was funny. Your content is still amazing and I look forward to every video you make, so just keep doing what you do Evan because you're very good at it. I also liked the little conversation you guys had about societal norms. SO true, it hurts xD P.S. You both look amazing in this video :) Have a lovely day!
i actually found this really refreshing. clickbait has it's time and place, i personally saw evan's last video title and realised it was a bit of cheeky clickbait, but still found it satisfying for him to admit some fault here in this video that it may have been too clickbaity. really good to get dodie's opinion as well, as there are two sides to the dovan flat story/drama urgh so spicy.
also in my opinion it was pretty obvious that the title was a joke BUT you should've maybe called it "WHY I REALLY LEFT DOVAN FLAT | Q&A" or something to make it clearer ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
one of the most annoying things are reading an interesting title, clicking on the video and hearing "so today we are doing a qna :D!" i instantly click away.
i like qna's but only from certain youtubers i LOVE. these people are alright. but i dont want them to force their content on me. it looks so money hungry. very unappealing
I do hope dodie is feeling better, it sucks she's in this place and its a shame she felt like she had to change and move around to try and fix it. I hope you're happy doddleoddle
aw evan i absolutely love your videos and even if people thought that was "clickbait", i guess it means that they are not willing to take a joke. i love your content and so many of us do. keep doing what you do and make us laugh with puns.
also, i got that it was ironic and a joke but... was it funny? i couldn't appreciate it cause as soon as i got it my first reaction was to scroll down and read the comments cause i knew a lot of people would be upset. i know sense of humor is subjective and my opinion isn't a fact, but i still think it's something to consider.
I like Q&As, and I think it's really good when it says Q&A in the title. I think viewers like when they know (at least a little) what style of video to expect.
I agree with Dody I wish you would make the title Q+A because when I click on a video I want to watch a video about the title it's annoying when the title is hidden halfway through the vid
I completely agree with Dodie, I feel like clickbaiting a Q&A is just quit cheap, whether it was intended as a joke or not, and I feel like you're just lying to your audience. I do understand where you're coming from, Evan, and I still love your content, but I do find myself a bit disappointed when I click on one of your videos and its just a Q&A. I think the better way of doing this would have been to put that question at the beginning of the video, as putting it at the end of the video is essentially just as if you were trying to get more viewing time out of your audience to get more money rather than respecting your audience if that makes sense?
+Poppy Todd I usually put my fave question and answer at the end of the video and usually then would title the vid off my face q and a so yeah Also I mean I make q&a' every 5 weeks and tweet many times it's a Q&A so like... I honestly don't feel like it's a big deal in the slightest
+Poppy Todd +Evan Endinger Ok. I agree with you Poppy, in the way that clickbaiting is kind of cheap. However, Evan does not clickbait. The reason subscribers come to watch the video is because it's Evan, and he's awesome. But the reason that new people come to watch the video is that they're interested in it. And to get people interested, you have to make the title and thumbnail interesting! Honestly, if you didn't know how much of an amazing and hilarious person Evan is, then why would you want to watch a video that is just titled "Q&A" ? And If he puts the question in the beginning of the video, some new people won't be interested after that, and they will click off. He's just getting people interested, showing them what an amazing creator he is, then rewarding them with that information he offered in the title, so that they actually give him a chance to see his work before they become uninterested. It's a hard thing to do. For that reason, Evan is doing nothing wrong whatsoever. I mean, how many youtubers will actually APOLOGIZE for something that was supposed to be an ironic joke?
I will point out that a lot of your audience (ie. me) probably don't follow you on twitter and don't pay attention to your schedule. I don't think it's a morally heinous act to clickbait, it's just annoying and I'm likely to click off if it's just a q&a. Whereas if it had your favourite question plus "q&a" I could choose whether or not I was in the mood for a q&a. Otherwise I just feel tricked. I do really enjoy your content, but I'm afraid you're one of the people I watch on and off, so I like knowing exactly what I'm getting. With the youtubers I watch every video of, it doesn't matter so much. With the youtubers I only click on in my sub box if I'm in the right mood/it sounds interesting, I feel irritated and cheated if it's not actually what I thought it was. Basically I think the general rule of thumb should be to not clickbait, but no one is actually obligated to avoid it. You just need to bear in mind that you might lose some of your casual viewers.
Me personally, for a comedy channel, if any male (Evan included) posted a video on his comedy channel saying "I'M PREGNANT!" I'd click it just for the funny. That may be sexist, but I don't think so, because if a woman comedy channel posted a video "FINALLY GOT CIRCUMCISED!" I'd click it. It's funny. I caught the irony of "The truth" pretty much right away since ... Puns.
I love you both so much & honestly I don't mind clickbait as long as the quality of the video is the same. Clickbait helps you guys make a living. I personally thought that whole video was gonna be about leaving dovan flat & would've preferred a specification but I still watched and enjoyed the video. I guess I missed the video where you guys said you just wanted to move out so I thought that title was gonna be legit. Though I knew it wasn't gonna be relationship drama bc you two clearly have a really strong friendship

i re-watched evan saying that like 100 times i'm dying of laughter
Hi Dodie! As a viewer, I completely agree with the way you think about clickbait. I love the fact that there are still youtubers like you:D
i totally agree with you evan, also i started watching your vids about a week ago and i'm already obsessed with you
Aww hey!
+Evan Edinger it's so refreshing to watch someone who can actually discuss his political or religious views, and at the same time have the best sense of humour ever
OMG I literally started watching 2 weeks ago and I love it
Guys I think Evan is pregnant.
I got this vibe too. why must he lie to us?
OH MY GOD! PLOT TWIST
Actually same. You can just feel it.
HE IS FOR SURE
omg me too
I'm actually with Dodie on this one.

Alice Ash i agree a lot

I LOVE YOU BOTH SO MUCH AAA
also I rlly liked this video, it was nice to hear both of your views on the topic!
Jenna Drawing omg I love your drawings so much!
oh mY GOD JENNA!
Jenna?😂 I love your vids
I do really agree with what Dodie says at 2:40. I feel like when a Q and A is titled with one question it is, honestly, a bit of a lie. I want to see a full video about something, not a one minute answer.
THIS. I rarely watch Evans q&as because I enjoy his other videos more so when the title looks like it's going to be a sit down chat about something serious, I always get disappointed to hear "hi, welcome to another q&a"

Yes Dodie, us shippers always find a way.
I don't like clickbait when they do it for every video and it's completely not even close to what the actual content is.
I found your title of that video funny bc it was obviously playing off how ppl are still trying to create drama and make a mountain out of a molehill.
+holeygeorge exactlyyy
+Evan Edinger I didn't see it as a joke....
+
I feel the same way. I even unsubscribed from joey graceffa, because his titles annoyed the hell out of me. I still like him tho, i follow him on insta and twitter, but i'll probably never subscribe again :'(

IMMA GET A SCHOLARSHIP TO KINGS COLLEGE I PROBABLY SHOULDNT BRAG BUT DANG I AMAZE AND ASTONISHING
regardless of my opinion of clickbait, i rlly liked the whole "talk it out and respect each others' opinion" vibe of this video. so much drama (between both youtubers' and their fanbases) would be avoided if people sat down together and talked about their problems (which r usually either misunderstandings or, in this case, a minor conflict of morality) on camera. i hope this becomes the newest yt video trend tbh
+vexedcer 👍🏻👍🏻 I'm hoping to make this a series
+Evan Edinger I am really looking forward to this series bab
I agree
i agree 100%
+Evan Edinger I love your work, but (sorry!) please don't talk over Dodie :( we want to hear her too.
+
I agree with Dodie for the most part. But i wish she would've had more freedom to voice her opinion without Evan having to constantly add on or immediately defend himself. I love the both of you very much.x
The flats a mess and so is clickbait
but no one's home so I
tROYE
to be honest I'm with dodie. I hate clickbait. I just really value honestly and creatively, and doing extra/kinda misleading shit purely for views just puts me off. I almost unsubscribed from you bc I was annoyed with the clickbait tbh, but I couldn't do it just bc I love you as a person so much.
*creativity oops
***** i don't have an opinion on them bc i've never watched them
it was more of a joke than clickbait.
This is why I love Dodie and Evan, they talk to us as an audience about the important things. Thank god for these two.
And they can have different opinions but still have calm discussions, it's very refreshing
+
I really like when the title gives a teaser for multiple parts of the Q & A. For example: "Dovan's Flat, Relationaships, and Food! [Q&A]" Because that gives me a better idea of what the video is about, and helps me decide if I really want to watch. And each subject may only be addressed for a total of one min, but that's still 3 mins of a (let's say) 10 minn video, so I don't feel ripped off :)
Evan, it does actually really piss me off when I click on a video only to find that it's a Q&A and the thing I initially was interested in is 3 minutes into the video.
Can we just take a few seconds to appreciate how perfect Dodie looks!!!
YASSS
literally my first thought
She looked extra stunning in this video
and Evan :)
-Cadence- literally so true!
You can really see Evan's honesty in this, its really inspiring to see
Please at least just specify that it's a Q&A in he title. Thanks.
yes please
+
Yes! Something like "Q&A: The truth about....."
this needs to be in the youtube terms and conditions
+
is it just me but does dodie look incredibly gorgeous in this video? she always is, but in this video especially? i also really like both evan and dodie's outfits in this video because i feel like they lowkey compliment each other quite nicely
He's just like his country...young, scrappy + hungry
no xenophobia needed
+Ash I was quoting Hamilton like Evan did at 5:20
Sorry I didn't realise
+Ash no worries
im not throwin away my shOT
Honestly, I would prefer it if it was titled with the original title, but Q&A was also in the title. For people who aren't fully acquainted with upload schedules etc, it's far better, and gets rid of the possible trick that people may get.

I never believed clickbait was honestly that bad as long as the video was quality content...TH-cam creators need to make money and get views somehow. As Evan said, Casey often uses it and yet most people don't mind.
Check lance Stewart he uses click bait every video without fail and it's always about his girlfriend I've stopped watching him it annoys me he has to use click bait every time
I agree, that guy's a shameless clickbaiter.
joey graceffa is the fucking worst for clickbait in my opinion
+aidyl truuu
I agree with Dodie... I just think if people make a Q&A, they should put Q&A in the title- I don't think I watched your "am I religious?" vid (sorry) because I didn't want to watch what I thought was a 10 minute video about your religion. Idk that's just me
And I'm the opposite, I watched that video in hopes of ten minutes discussing his religion. I wish more youtubers would put q&a in the title, it can be really annoying
And I agree with Dodie that something like that would be an interesting video to watch if it was done tastefully...but I think QA should be in the titles of QAs.
+
+lucy rowan m I also like Q&A's as they're more personal lots of times. I don't know why people hate them. Must be watching different people
one of the most annoying things are reading an interesting title, clicking on the video and hearing "so today we are doing a qna :D!" i instantly click away.
i like qna's but only from certain youtubers i LOVE. these people are alright. but i dont want them to force their content on me. it looks so money hungry. very unappealing
Ive gotten to the point where I dont take much notice of what the video is called because of clickbait :))
thank youuuu
Okay. Dodie and Evan in the same frame genuinely make me do my happy snoopy dance. Wow, thanks for being so heart-warmy. You both are the best.
Don't judge a video by its title?
you kind of have to though. i subscribe to so many i tend to click on the content i think i'll find the most interesting. clicking on what looks like a really great video then finding out it's another q&a is disappointing when it isn't mentioned in the title
+Xenolilly nice
+GeorgiChan I can always tell when Evan does q&a's though, and same with a lot of other youtubers. Maybe its just me.
I mean... the way someone presents a piece of content (doesn't matter if it's online or offline) is ALWAYS a strategy, it's always intentional.

+Bethany Pennington exactlyyyy
amen
+
I watched a vlog by a certain British youtuber once called 'partying with Kyle Jenner' or something along those lines. They were at coachella and there was a 3 second clip of kylie Jenner away in a crowd, and I have not watched their videos since

Aah, Tan-buzzle, was it not?
(yup, real discreet)
I definitely appreciate the fact that Evan lets his viewers know that he reflects on their responses. That's the reason why his content is good.
im going to cry the lighting is so good
IM SO HAPPY I JUST WOKE UP TO THIS AND DAY IN THE LIFE OF DAN AND PHIL IN AUSTRALIA AFTER DODIE AND CONNIE KISSED IM ALIVE
"When we became friends I wanted it to stay that way, and she did too" *world implodes for all dovan shippers including me*
Evan, I think that you're sort of trivializing people's negative responses to that video.
My thoughts exactly!
(I agree with u a little)
+doddleoddle I agree too :(
Exactly!
i like listening to them just have a conversation- its like comforting
PLEASE make more videos like this! I really love just hearing you and anyone else talk about whatever is on your mind :)))
This is basically Dodie feeling uncomfortable about something and then Evan convincing her it's nothing to be uncomfortable about.
Dodie: I like change
Evan: And I like cash
Pourquoi?
okay I did come here for the puns, but I kinda grew out of liking them so it is a let down as a subscriber to keep clicking videos that look like interesting discussions (which you do very good on this channel occasionally) and get a Q and A. because it personally isn't a good video to me. it makes me want to stop clicking on videos because I'll just end up in another q and a
honestly i feel like i just repeated what dodie said in this video but less eloquently. whoops
I usually click off from a video when I find out it's a q&a but I watched that one until the end. It was less angering for me and more off putting
+Jordy A i got halfway through that one then clicked off, that's what I usually do as well tho
+
completely agree with dodie on this one, it's actually so annoying finding an interesting looking video and then realising the video is a q&a/daily vlog
FWIW, I had not heard the "real" answer prior to this vid, so I'm guessing that applies to others as well. And I'm completely with Dodie on quality content creation standing on its own. This is why I'm subscribed to her: she's real, she's humble, she's practical in an age of so much facade and egotism.
when youtubers clickbait but it's a q&a (happens a Loooooot) the title should have "/q&a" in the title
I agree with Dodie. If you are making a video and using a title that will attract lots of people, make a whole video about that interesting title.
How did anyone take that title seriously???????
RIGHT
IT WAS SO OBVIOUS IT WAS FAKE
Obviously the ones that are professional butt hurts or those who don't like thinking.
to get people to stop throwing a fit maybe just put (Q&A) after your title that would be fine
People call everything clickbait these days. That's annoying in itself. If the content is in the video, I don't consider it clickbait. Apparently, that's just me.
+Ellion no that's me too. People just get upset at interesting titles now haha
I guess your viewers hold you to a higher standard than Casey Niestat, lol! So you better knock it off! :D
By the way, I couldn't get past the impression that Dodie put you in time out for this transgression. :D
Awwh. More Dovan collabs please, you're both so wonderful
Completely agree'd with Dodie on the last video, Evan seems so argumentative in this
My opinion is i guess for us viewers youtube is really special.

SO true, it hurts xD
DODIE LOOKS SO BEAUTIFUL FUKKK
also in my opinion it was pretty obvious that the title was a joke BUT you should've maybe called it "WHY I REALLY LEFT DOVAN FLAT | Q&A" or something to make it clearer ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
SO DOES EVAN
snowdude binchild VERY TRUE
so does your profile picture
one of the most annoying things are reading an interesting title, clicking on the video and hearing "so today we are doing a qna :D!" i instantly click away.
i like qna's but only from certain youtubers i LOVE. these people are alright. but i dont want them to force their content on me. it looks so money hungry. very unappealing
dodies hair 😍
I do hope dodie is feeling better, it sucks she's in this place and its a shame she felt like she had to change and move around to try and fix it. I hope you're happy doddleoddle
i love how you two can get along so well as just friends. i know how you guys feel im the same way with so many of my "girl" friends.
The amount of time dodie got cut off
You two are boy/girl BFF goals. I love your relationship. :)
Evan; you're such a good talker.
aw evan i absolutely love your videos and even if people thought that was "clickbait", i guess it means that they are not willing to take a joke. i love your content and so many of us do. keep doing what you do and make us laugh with puns.
I love your content, Evan. Keep doing what you enjoy doing because that is the best!
I don't know why but at 3:18 Dodie reminded me so much of Hedy
*3:26
also, i got that it was ironic and a joke but... was it funny? i couldn't appreciate it cause as soon as i got it my first reaction was to scroll down and read the comments cause i knew a lot of people would be upset. i know sense of humor is subjective and my opinion isn't a fact, but i still think it's something to consider.
+isabel marinho I found it funny as did many in the comments but humour is subjective as you said
Evan interrupts Dodie a lot, you can just tell that she's like yeah whatever
dodie 2016: people will watch regardless of the title if you make good content
dodie 2019: ‘bun’ video
I like Q&As, and I think it's really good when it says Q&A in the title. I think viewers like when they know (at least a little) what style of video to expect.
I agree with Dodie's opinion.
phandom !!
toddleoddle I love you're user name so much 😙
+Coolbeans Yes, I'm a Phan. ahh thank you so much
I'm with Dodie on this.
Just specify it's a Q&A in the title/thumbnail next time, please? :)
I agree with Dody I wish you would make the title Q+A because when I click on a video I want to watch a video about the title it's annoying when the title is hidden halfway through the vid
I love the honesty in this video! Very refreshing :)
Damnit why does Evan always look so put-together, fashion-wise?!
dodie looks damn beautiful in this video!!!!
+Poppy Todd I usually put my fave question and answer at the end of the video and usually then would title the vid off my face q and a so yeah
Also I mean I make q&a' every 5 weeks and tweet many times it's a Q&A so like... I honestly don't feel like it's a big deal in the slightest
+Evan Edinger completely agree with you Evan, it's really unimportant. Id rather talk about why the flat was a mess in the first place 😂
+Kmskaitlin I think all people asking for is literally for the title to be "I have herpes?!?!?" etc [Q&A]
I will point out that a lot of your audience (ie. me) probably don't follow you on twitter and don't pay attention to your schedule.
Puns.
i love that this is just a fun debate and not a full fledged argument its very calming
