This unit is pretty impressive in a gloomy, no escape way. I could only imagine what ADX is like. I've seen pictures of the cell's, but there has never been a recorded wlak-through of the prison to give viewers an idea of daily living.
We hosted a media day inside the ADX circa 2005, that included 60 minutes, the LA Times, and numerous other TV/Print news sources. We walked them through the whole place and allowed them to talk to ADX inmates. Media has been through there before.
Is Marion a meduim or maximum sucurity penitantary? Thanks for posting Mobfax a real eye-opener I guess we sometimes don't know how lucky we are, these guys took their freedom for granted and paid for it dearly, and so did their families.

It' was designed for inmates the US Government wants to break down mentally and physically they only call it medium because they accept non violent inmates that's why but it's the worst.

For real!! I'm an ex-convict myself and if you're going to do the crime, you need to understand that the consequences for that is jails or prisons. If you don't want to face those harsh conditions and go to jail or prison then simply do not do the crime. It's just as simple as that it really really is.

I am lucky... Extremely lucky that I have never been sentenced to state or Federal prison and have only had a "60 days to be served on weekends" sentence.. You report at 8 AM.leave at 4:00 p.m the same day, then same on Sunday. Its a jome really. Most people took Xanax, valium,muscle relaxers,and whatever else allowed them to sleep the entire day until it came time to leave.. Most folks were doing the 10 day sentence for driving. w/o a license, or driving while revoked.. One guy was serving a 3 year suspended sentence.. It took him 6 or 7 years of weekend jail to complete.. I saw him leave at roll call that morning..

On August 23, 1997, he spent about three and a half months in the high security unit (which houses people like bombers), but then was moved back to GP. He was transferred to Springfield on September 1, 1998, where he stayed until his death. His family was at the institution visiting him the day he died, however they were out to lunch when he passed. Do you know how the media found out about his death? Do you know the Gambino family had a contract on the Warden after Gotti's death? Probably not.

I knew many of the inmates in the control unit (H) at Marion and those eventually at the ADX. For a period, Gotti was in the high security unit, but that's not H unit. It's quite a story about Gotti dying at Springfield which resulted in the FBI telling us the Gambino family put a contract out on the Warden.
He def did run that whole prison! He was doing 15 thousand push-ups a day followed by 10 thousand sit-ups and of course carrying his paperwork in his prison wallet while doing his routine. Big Chest watson is for sure not on steroids at all.
On all these type of things everyone inside always complains about this and that and how 'they' are making prison a bad place to be for them and how everything is inhumane and terrible etc etc ...But then it turns out that virtually everyone has fully chosen to be there and most have already been in and out multiple times over years and years and can sit bragging about what prisons they have been in already..So how can you possibly sit winging about the conditions when you knew full well this is exactly where you would be going back to next time you chose to be a scumbag ...My stupidity got me nearly 2 weeks in a Moroccan prison and just that small taste told me that even risking doing something else that would take me back there or any prison like it around the world even a 3% chance of been caught would be too big a risk

I was actually lucky enough to spend time in ADX. I WAS EXUALLY SAULTED WHILE I WAS THERE. AND TAKE IT FROM ME MY MAN, THE GETTIN WAS GOOD.

H-unit was waiting and ready for John Gotti's arrival.
He was never in H unit. Gotti wasn't anywhere tough enough or dangerous enough to be placed in the control unit.
