a totally honest review of their machines makes me more likely to buy one than not. i got the mig130, and been real happy with it. works great for all the small jobs i need.
Glad that polarity switch worked for you. I figured you were in the wrong one when it was piling up and spattering on you. We're always learning something new, and glad i was able to help out. It is a shame though that they don't list polarity on the packaging... There's probably a lot of people pulling their hair out with these wires... Doubly so when they don't know a tiny little.030 needs around 24 volts
18:14 I like the roller fairlead repurpose you did there on that shelf for the stinger lead! Pretty cool idea for a machine thats mounted & stays up on that shelf like that Miller does. Nice update video to the stainless fluxcore issue. Good to be always learnin!👌🏻👍🏻👨🏻🏭🔥⚡🔌🔋🦺🗜️🛠️🔧📐🔩 ✊🏻🇺🇲🦅🇺🇲✊🏻
Thank you CB what a great teacher for me Extraordinary video presentation and konledge , and prouving along demonstration I should known you before when i started welding Great 😂😂😂
Found the same polarity issue using blue demon 308 LFC-O, and had to run it with the MIG setting because my welder switches polarity internally if flux core is selected. And I forgot that fact until this video popped up for me. Thanks for updating us.
I did some testing on the stainless flux core wire in a video and did the exact same thing you did, run it DCEN. It ran poorly and was a no go. I made a decision to try to run it DCEP wondering if that would work and it actually worked. The blue demon I used didn’t mention anything about DCEP either. My thoughts are the wire runs better than I expected, but it definitely likes higher voltage to run well. That eliminates the ability to run the wire on virtually every 140a and under class welder. Kind of a bummer but with a decent welder it does work well. Stainless on the cheap will still be won by stick welding lol.
Awesome that you got it figured out. I know this summer a buddy of mine was telling me he found flux core stainless wire. He bought it to weld on his maple syrup processing equipment, and he said it worked great. Because previous to that he had to get a guy in to tig weld his stuff, when he had repairs to do. So I was surprised to hear that the wire didn't work for you in the previous video. Glad that it is sorted out now. And If I have any stainless to do in the future I will definitely be buying a roll to try it out. Thanks for sharing
Man I’m glad that works, that will help me. I’ll get one after the first of the year, off of your link of course. CB, have a Happy, and safe Thanksgiving.
I have read that about SS flux. I do glance at the new packages for current and polarities , since it seems like I'm always try something different. So in this case I wouldn't have gotten my reminder from that packaging. Probably would have remembered it out after much cussing. What stainless I have done is with tig and stick. For the second part I glad you did it and would call it NBS. Many companies with little welders claim they can do something, but they really can't do it well. I recently got a esab 180i because it runs so good on long extension cords and it has 6010 button. In experimenting I tried 6010 on my everlast , which they say doesn't run 6010 , however they do run if i adjust the arc force, but I can tell it is less than perfect, but not as bad as the Arc C. So like you say, you need to be able to use a rod the way you normally would to truly claim it does have that function.
I have never welded stick with my Arccaptain 200 ,but when weld wire with it if you tell the welder you are running .035 wire but you are running .030 wire you can get more amps.
I don't agree with comparing any ESAB, Miller, or Lincoln to a $400 ARCCAPTAIN...your ESAB cost more money 30 years ago than a brand new ARCCAPTAIN costs today...that's not fair
@@NBSWELDING I agree completely. The technology advances have made good and functional machines much more reliable, affordable, and available. I was just pointing out that years ago even a top line inverter could not run 6010 well. I bought my esab used at an auction 5 years ago and it was still twice the cost of your arc captain. I assume my esab was above 1000$ back in 1995 but i'm not sure what the list price was. Also, it weighs a lot despite being an inverter. Both your red machines are much more mobile which is a super big plus in my eyes. Love your content. Have a great turkey day. pete
Hey CB, glad the change in polarity worked better. I don't know if you can claim it was wrong to start with, a quick check of the arc captain web site shows that the recommended polarity is DCEN on the specification sheet. Once again vague or misleading information from the manufacturer. Thanks for sharing.
I just looked on their website and would call it extremely misleading... under the link for the stainless wire, the part that says dcen is actually for the E71T-GS carbon steel wire. They really need to clean things up and put out better information that doesn't mislead people...
I have an LE31MP LINCOLN multi process, and I’m trying to run 3/32 7018, I know there is a learning curve, I just want to know if you think I have enough machine to run like a 3/32 6010 root with a 3/32 7018 cap. I am currently just playing around but want to get it right. Thanks!
I've never seen or ran an LE31MP...sorry I don't know anything about it. My nephew has a Lincoln 210MP and I know it doesn't run 6010...same issue with not enough OCV's
Never would have occurred to me to switch to DCEP because it’s so ingrained in me to run self-shielded flux core on DCEN. Thanks for putting this information out.
I should also add that people that want the same effect as a 6010 can you use a 6011 Fleet weld 35 Lincoln electrode rod and get basically the same results as a 6010 kind of the difference between these electrodes is 6010 is a DC electrode positive and a 6011 is a dual polarity electrode and also able to run on AC current it is a potassium-based electrode while the 6010 is a rutal cellulose type electrode and they're really okay for routing in open joints but they're brittle as hell they're not very ductile they don't flex it all really I really feel like people could just get by with the 7014 7018 and 6013 foremost Home applications
I don't like how 6011 runs on the little inverters either...it still loses arc for no reason if you don't have the OCV's th-cam.com/video/w0Tn_y9MkGg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=7Mw9cXXyClkFJJs0
Some boxes need more amps than others. Use a smaller rod, and/or crank up the amps. Some of the rods I've used state 1/8" 6010 needs between 75 - 125 amps. But yea, sometimes I've gone above that... Other brands say up to 140 amps. Why did you choose 100 amps with a 1/8" rod?
This has nothing to do with amps....100 amps is more than plenty for a 1/8" 6010...the machine does not make enough open circuit voltage to run 6010...most budget inverters don't have enough open current voltage to run 6010 no matter what company makes it...a Lincoln 210MP won't run 6010 correctly either
Buying American has its benefits!! Hey you might have a handle or a potentially bad situation! If have an unexpected mishap with your grinder with the saw blade, you only have to add a letter "U" to make things right?!? Just change N B S welding to N U B S welding!!!!!
American brands get some of their machines made in china and they are okay. Some welders are competing at a price point and cut corners hoping they don't get caught. Kind of like that smaller package of soap at walmart.
I believe the short wire that comes out of the front in the middle of the 200 (16:34 ), that's what changes polarity by plugging it in neg or positive ports.
CB we like the fact that you keep digging until you come up with the answer .
