Jep, niinkuin Aleksi sanoi. Englanti on lausunnaltaan paljon erilaisempaa kuin japani tai suomi.
Suomella ja japanilla on taas paljon yhteistä. Mm se että sanat luetaan _melkein_ kuin kirjoitetaankin (eli ei Englannin ihme [ao] merkintöjä jne.) lisäksi aakkoset lausutaan melkein samoin japanissa ja suomessa, toisin kuin Englannissa. :)

@@nahoangvieteng nope not really. But it does sound Nordic I suppose thanks to centuries of influence. But the reality is it doesn’t sound anything like Swedish as it’s from a entirely different language family tree than Swedish is.

This is interesting! For all my life my mom told me her father was from Sweden so we assumed we were Swedish. When she had a DNA test done not too long ago she found out she is 0% Swedish and her ancestry is ACTUALLY Finnish! I need to do some studying to relearn my heritage.

I don't understand. Swedish and Finnish DNA are so similar. Isn't it?
@@xololomejor Nope. There is a huge body of water between most of Sweden and Finland, so the populations were mostly isolated from each other. But, many Finns have some Swedish. But, not all Finns. My parents are both Finnish and my ancestry ethnicity estimate was just updated to 92% Finnish, 6% Swedish.

I agree. I tried learning Japanese for 5 months and that experience from that has helped significantly in learning Finnish. Look how fast the Japanese guy is picking up Finnish! XD

Aleksi Himself noi on enemmän murre sanoja... oisit opettanu ihan kirjakieltä ( esim toi "mä olen" ois voinu olla et "minun nimeni on" sillee niiku eskarissa opetetaan ':D" )
Hyvä pointti, mutta käytännössä kukaan ei käytä noita kirjakielisiä ilmaisuja kun oikeissa tilanteissa puhutaan suomeksi.
@@AleksiHimself Totta, mutta kirjakielestä on hyvä lähteä liikkeelle. Murteissa on kuitenkin alueellisia eroja ja samaa murretta ei kuitenkaan puhuta koko Suomen alueella. Lisäksi murteen opettelu voi myöhemmin vaikeuttaa kirjakielen opettelua kun yhtäkkiä sanat kirjoitetaankin eri tavalla kuin ne lausutaan. Eihän esimerkiksi englantiakaan opetella kouluissa jollakin tietyllä murteella vaan tyypillisesti murteet poimitaan esim. englanniksi puhuttuja tv-sarjoja katselemalla.

I taught Ten more casual Finnish as it's more used than the formal way. As a native Finn, I can say that I never hear people of using hei nowadays.

Hyvä and hyvin (the hy) sound seems to be a sound many foreigners struggle with. For the English speakers out there I think a similar sound in English would be Hoover. So if you were to say “Hoover dam” that first part of Hoover “hoo” is a sound that’s very similar to hy in Finnish.
I hope that might help. It will take some alteration to get it right but that’s what helped me personally get that sound lol. It’s the “hoo” but with a more narrow mouth and more emphasis
Or another way I saw was saying the HY as "Hue", but I also thought of it as hoover as well

So, who is able to say just a word of Bosnian? I am able to say vittu perkele and ni hao, you just have to say naramak drva, to make it easier, the letters are single toned, A is just A, no "ei", just A

Aleksi Himself lets take 'an apple' for example, this written as Bosnian will be 'en epl' because we write how we speak and every letter is single toned and they are same in every word, 'a' for example, as single letter its speach is 'ei', but in word 'a butterfly' is as in bosnian language, single toned and spoken as written, its a pretty tough language, even for bosnian people, some people can't say 'č', they are saying it as 'ć', you are like 'what the hell are those letters' but its ok, 'ć' is like 'ch' in word 'chiwawa', i was telling you about differences between english and bosnian languages, not your language

Suomi Perkkele Mikko. And very good finnish from a japanese, and no wonder. I have studied some japanese language as a native finn, and I must say your pronounciations are quite like ours. But, I guess we finns might "roll our R" a bit more than you, and we definitely don't have the "chi" (not meaning life force that chi can stand for, but the sound "chi" in japanese alphabet katakana) that you japanese have there. In our language your chi or well, "ki" I guess it was, life force, in finnish that means "elinvoima" which in literal translation to english would mean "organ power" or maybe "living power".

Finnish people sound so weird. English is a stress timed language. There is no tone or stress when he speaks. It sounds like Finnish with English words.

Perkele is actually derived from Paerkunas, an ancient batlic god of thunder. So Perkele was a god, this whole demon/devil stuff is later christian interpretation ^^

Perkele exists in Spanish without a very defined meaning: verga. Used in the same manner... Maybe these words are cognates.

Yea for JPN Finnish pronunciation is not the most difficult job. I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I indeed often make the mistake mentioning Finland being part of Scandinavia. Gotta pay more attention on that!
