i love how they made new challenges with actual different mechanics instead of "oh you start with soy milk and tiny planet" or some other set of items
ikr? repentance has the most mechanically impressive challenge among any isaac
i cant believe the most mechanically advanced challenge before repentance was the guardian
It's the same thing with characters too. The tainted characters are such a breath of fresh air and are not just "isaac with different items"
@@lucasskywalification I think you could say that about most characters that came in or after rebirth, however still the tainted characters are so inovative and fun
@@crap9105 meh, the only characters with unique mechanics released before repentance were azazel, the lost, lilith, keeper, forgotten and MAYBE blue baby. The rest are just "isaac with different items and stats" and that makes them kinda boring imo

They purposefully missed out the "Dead" in the challenge name.
They knew that people would provide it themselves with tainted Jacob.

I'm beginning to think that Hutts had recorded hours upon hours of Tim and then let his editor has the free reign to do whatever they want with him.
Tim whenever hutts has to do something to save his sanity: "assuming direct control."
I think that Hutts often talks to the Editor while recording (as in, try putting this meme here), and I imagine he does a Tim voice during those interludes
It's so cool that Ed used the red key in a challenge. God I love that item.
The angel rooms are so op though.. i can find on every floor most of the time

@@ironworld4548 tainted Jacob is fine, certainly not the best, though regular Jacob is just the worst
If you haven't fone this or plan to, you can "kill" esau but before he explodes you can quit and continue the game so theres no esau and no you as ghost. This works for main game aswell.

i actually want to see items the normal characters spawn with moved to the pill slot. you rarely drop starting items, and it can get a little stale. the tainted characters feel so much more interesting since you can have multiple actives, i wish the normal characters could do that too

@@wormiestwood682 i know schoolbag exists, but you dont get it every run. imagine how boring tainted bethany would be if you could drop lemegeton? characters are more unique and interesting with items in the consumable slot, as seen with the tainted characters
imagine how much stronger isaac would be with d6 in the pill slot
Yeah, Isaac basically doesn't have an active slot because the D6 is just too good to drop most of the time

I think The Hermit? is Repentance's equivalent of Antibirth's Rune of Fehu, since they essentially do the same thing. Very interesting
Towards the end of the video when the "demon beggar" as you call it took away both your rotten hearts because one rotten heart is the equivalent to half of a red heart and down in the corpse everything does one full heart of damage including things like blood donation machines confessionals and yes "demon beggars"
6:19 omg that mushroom guy literally had 2 frames of life in which to shoot those projectiles that killed you... I had no idea that as soon as it popped up, THE FRAME that it pops it's head up, it starts shooting... wow
One thing I've always loved about Hutts is him complaining about problems that are solved by using a controller while also refusing to use a controller

@@bluerious5475 Having to hold control to use alternative items, some items being virtually useless on keyboard, not being able to control your speed and plenty other things directly responsible for things he complains about and loses runs to

i have similar gripes with Tainted Cain, i hate his crafting mechanic and getting random items through cards would be so fun like he does in cantripped

The challenge is easier than just playing Tainted Jacob normally.
My strategy was basically kill Esau when he shows up on the first floor, then just full clear the literal entire map as the lost to get powerful. Then the rest of the floors are a breeze.
I love how much baby plum helped on that witness fight!
Hutts did you know if you use the red key at the hallway before the dogma fight you can unlock a secret character

The red key runs out after 20 uses on a floor. After it's out, Esau comes out to play. Every 5 uses afterwards summons another Esau.
It's always good to do this grid style. Go in straight lines and leave 2 empty room spaces between the parallel lines

Mother is technically Jacob and Esau's Grandma
tip for red key: you can tell when the next room is I AM ERROR as long as you can see the map, it wont reveal a new room if its error but anything else will make a grayed out room
d100 is actually busted in this challenge because for some dumb reason it fully recharges red key. You can do all like, 169 rooms every floor or whatever. Takes forever but if you're willing it's an instant win item.

jus wanna say people did not give anyone enough credit for just how big and great of an update Isaac got with repentance. If you go back to afterbith after being used to repentance, you really just feel like theres not a lot to do. With repentance there is so much to do, even if youve already gotten platinum god on afterbirth

Who should tell them?
FYI hutts, you can’t have a half rotten heart, which means they are very risky. In womb you would take double damage.
how i ended up doing this challenge is full clearing the first floor and killing the esau.. once you kill one, they don't spawn for the rest of the floor. and full clearing you need either book of shadows or chariot card in case you walk into curse rooms on accident. also panic button is a life saver so that you don't take damage.
I've only seen the thumbnail so far and I'm way less excited about this challenge than before I knew what this challenge is probably about.
A little tip: Esau can actually be used to your advantage. If Esau charges towards you and makes contact with an enemy that enemy will be damaged. It even works on bosses!

Esau spawns when you ran out of red key charge. If you use it more then there will be more Esau
Dutch. Forget the money in Blackwater. We should play this cool game that came out a while ago. It's called The Binding of Isaac and it just got a new DLC called Repentance.
The most fun way to do this challenge is to full clear the 13x13 square map on the first floor, become OP, then sweep through the other floors. It's also painful. But it's fun.

Tainted Isau _is_ timed, the problem is that you only get a whopping... 45 seconds per floor before he spawns, I think?

I think rotten hearts only count as a half heart. That might be why it took both
So I just looked up this challenge on the wiki and oh boy…
“After using the Red Key 20 times in a single floor, Dark Esau will spawn. The Red Key's charge bar displays how many uses it has left until this happens, rather than the item's actual charge. Another Dark Esau will spawn every 5 additional uses of the Red Key, as long as Jacob is not in his The Lost form. If he is, no more Dark Esaus will spawn.”
This is truly a terrible ordeal to go through.

It’d be nice if Dark Esau on Normal T Jacob only spawned after beating a certain number of rooms maybe half the rooms in a floor with a counter somewhere on screen to show you how many rooms you have left (also make it so he can’t die by touching red poop for 0.02 seconds)

I have a challange idea! Every item is twisted pair and you go alt floors.
I despise Jupiter. It's annoying, it's a speed down, the farts aren't even good unless you have high damage. It's kind of meanspirited as an item. I don't take it. So naturally, half my planetariums are Jupiter.
I kinda want to see a full tim gameplay. Not like an enterie 20-25 mimutes, but more like a short vid. I think that could be funny

If you kill Esau - he won't show up again. Do it on the first floor, and clear every last room. OP build is ready. The downside is: you play as a lost.

This challenge is pretty busted, honestly. You can break it by exploring ALL 169 rooms in the first floor, killing Esau from the very beginning. Planetariums, item rooms... Tons of money for the shops...
