- Dr. V. Jayakumar currently serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical #Engineering, #Amrita School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, #Chennai Campus.
He acquired distinction both at the graduate (B.E. - Mechanical Engineering) and post-graduate (M.E. - Industrial Engineering) levels. He completed his doctoral work at the College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University, Chennai. In addition, he also has degrees in Master of Business Administration (M.B.A) and Post Graduate Diploma in Operations Research.
Dr. V. Jayakumar has overt 20 years of teaching experience, including seven and a half years abroad. He has served as a visiting faculty member in leading institutes in the Sultanate of Oman, Eritrea and Ethiopia. His has authored 10 text books in topics related to Mechanical Engineering, which have been very well received by the student community and teaching fraternity. Four of his books have been prescribed as Text book or Reference book in various Indian Universities. To his credit, he has published more than 50 Research Papers in various International and National Journals and Conference. His areas of research include Cellular Manufacturing Systems, Friction Stir Welding, Composite Materials, Non-Conventional Machining Techniques and Production and Operations Management. Dr. V. Jayakumar is recognized and honoured with many awards such as IET CLN Exemplary Teacher Award, Best Professor Award, Excellent Professional Achievement Award, Best Faculty Award and Best Paper Award by various Institutes/Professional Bodies of repute for his contribution to the field of education. He had organized three International Conferences, one National Conference and many Faculty & Student Development Programmes. He has served as member of the Academic Council Member of several Universities. He is also a life member of various professional bodies including Institution of Engineers (India) and Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE)
