i live in arizona, one of the four corner states, and i can confirm that everyone who also lives in the corner states know what skinwalkers are for they live in the area on reservations

My parents worked at a correction facility in NM some of the inmates (all Native American) told them not to go down into the laundry room which was below ground bc there was a skin walker/ shapeshifter in there. Native Americans are very superstitious and are scared shitless of those kinds of things I definitely believe they were telling the truth and the cultures who are blind to that kind of stuff obviously don’t know what’s truly around them. Btw the Native American inmates refused to go down there at all

Another good read! Up until now, I've hardly heard anything on Skinwalkers....well considering the lore around it I'm not too surprised. ;) And since you asked and if it's not too mush trouble...I wouldn't mind hearing stories about the kelpie and/or the brook horse? Along with Skogsrået (not sure if I got that right) from Swedish folklore.

an explanation could be chronic wasting disease, it eventually causes deer that do things like stand on their hind legs (though not sure if they can run like that), sometimes scream, they also look someone scrawny in appearance
