Great, great use for window envelopes! Thanks for the shout-out, Christy - I absolutely love how we can put our own twist on things and make what works for us! Thanks, this was just really fun! Take care!
@annekenlon thank you Anne!! And, thank you so much for your inspiration! We don't have to have the same style to inspire each other, and I love that so much. Thank you for being so generous, and always inspiring!😊❤️
Christy, I, too am a fan of Anne’s and I watched her video and thought “oh great, just one more organization thing that probably won’t work for me” and I didn’t want to take the time to even try. After watching how you took the concept and made it work for you, made me realize I was frustrated because of the mess on my desk. The mess that no matter what always exists and I spend hours (not an exaggeration) trying to find something I know is on my desk, only to not be able to find it, getting frustrated and walking away from the craftroom. I LOVE the window envelopes concept. 1) because I have a ton, 2) I can sorta see what’s in it, 3) no cost if ultimately it doesn’t work, 4) keep it small. Just like you said, I’ve bought all of the baskets, boxes, etc. to get myself organized and what I have is a tote full of empties cause they don’t work no matter how much I want them too. I have a few things that do work - an organizer for “tools” (scissors, bone folder, pokey tool, etc.) and when I put them back, I don’t have to hunt for them buried on my desk. Thank you for helping me visualize a better option that just might work at no cost! Friend you were singing to my disorganized heart! I WANT to be organized. When I do organize I know it makes my life easier. But the pouty brat in me resists it. One tip I will pass on to you from another friend of mine that has helped me is to use masking tape and a sharpie to “label” things (like my 12x12 paper holders, or a baggie I’ve put a bunch of fussy cuts in). Easy & quick to do, easy to rip off the tape and make a different label when I decide something different should go in that container, and best of all, easy for my old eyes to focus on and see. Good luck with your desk clean off!
@TwilaSue oh my gosh!! You sound just like me!! I love the masking tape idea,, when I can find my tape !! No lie,, I've bought two rolls, can't find them. I have a great system for bigger scraps, but like you said,, the little stuff on my desk was wearing me down. I love being able to make something useful with the junk mail. Thank you so much for your comments!😊❤️
Christy ~ I love how your file envelopes look ~ with the tabs up top ~ inked ~ the look is so appealing to me. I'm inspired to make the same as you for my desk. Thank you as always for sharing ~
Great idea for using junk mail to control scraps. It got me to thinking this would be a great way to organize my die cut stash. Thanks for sharing. Happy creating.
I like it!!! 😁 I've been going through stuff for 6 months now, in my defense, I have a craft room filled with journaling stuff, and had tons of stuff at my parents house when I was taking care of Mom, so all that had to come back with me. I hope to have the majority of it, in its place before Christmas. It doesn't help when I sit with one of my patients and then have tote bags filled with stuff I brought with, that I don't empty, lol. 🤔🤣 You mentioned Bonny using an old phone book to collage leftover scraps in, I found one while emptying boxes, so plan to do that. I also use the heavier, cardstock advertisements that come in the mail, to collage on, with packing paper on the other side, for tags/journaling cards to finish decorating when I need them for a project. I think this is a great idea, and love that you can see through the window, always a plus. I also wouldn't use my vellum for this, I like the look of using junk mail, it's what we do after all. 😊 I prefer using book pages whenever possible, even if using a digital, if it can be printed on a book page and still look good, that's what happens, lol. Thanks for your prayers for my test this morning 💜 The hospital is a half hour drive down the expressway, it was dark when I left, I rarely drive when it's dark, and rainy, so that didn't help. The test was just over 2hrs, so a little nervous, potentially in the "normal" range, but tech made a comment on how fast things were moving, so a little on the fast side I guess, will see. There was NO room for actual crafting, 🤨they said I could go sit in the cafeteria, sooooo.... smell food that I couldn't eat during the testing?? lol. Yeah, did get a little fussy cutting done, so there's that. 😊
@carolm9451 I was thinking of you when I was editing that video, and I thought, oh, I hope Carol sees this before she goes. It would be an easy project she could take with her. I understand about the"go" bags. Maybe your only goal should be to take out what you finished, leave the rest for the next time. Or, maybe that's what you do. I think that's a life of a crafter 😆 things strung everywhere! We'll just keep chipping away😊 thank you so much Carol. Please let me know how everything turns out. If you don't want to post public, feel free to email me. Big hugs❤️
How often do you have to refill your baby glue bottle? It's so cute. ⭐️🙂 I love, love, love using junk mail envelopes to make whole journals. I would love to see your finished box. 🎉🎉🎉
@ConfettiRueStudio thank you! I absolutely will show it when I decorate it. I don't refill as often as you would think. Depending how much stuff I'm making, probably every 3 or 4 days, just guessing. I love it. It was a gift from a friend. She said she got them from Amazon. 😊❤️
Wow. That’s a great idea! I like the grunge look of the envelopes! So often I realize I should have slit them better when I opened them. Now I see what can be done in general … grunge them up! I haven’t been over to Anne’s channel in a long while. Looks like I need to check her vid out. Organization always jams the system for me. I get what I think will work and it doesn’t. Irritates me on several levels sometimes. 😂. But this idea is great. I have my stamps in binders. Have not liked that since I did that! 😖🤣. A “million years ago” my boss shopped for desks for the office and came back telling me the one she got for me was PERFECT for me. Sure enough, when it arrived it had alllll kinds of cubbyholes in it. 😊 I think they shopped older furniture so what they came back with was really cool and substantially made. So yeah, organization is important to me. However sometimes it’s like the comic strip I saw “a million years ago” where this character is yelling, “Where are they? Where have they gone? I must find them, for I am their leader. 😂😂😂 I enjoyed your application. And I understand that moment of “Does the numbered cloth go with cloth, numbers or get a new envelope?” Even with ample cubbyholes … always questions! 😂❤😊 can’t wait to hear how your efforts play out! ❤
@jennr7500 oh my gosh same,, on all accounts,, same! I learned from, I think the channel is crafty organizer, that sometimes, I break it down too much, which makes for more chaos. I over think soooooo many things lol thank you for watching, and your comments😊❤️
Wow, you took Anne's idea and simplified it in the most awesome way! I'm so doing this. My desk is either all cleaned off, or it's a disaster. There's no in-between. I need that to change, pronto. Btw, I'm Rose from WV. I've been subbed for a few months now (and I'm terrible at commenting, but I'm trying to get better), and with every video I watch, you say something that makes me think we're twins separated at birth lol! I miss the obvious so much, and in typical human fashion, I always thought I was the only one who did.
@raisdbywolvz Hi Rose!! We could have been,, I'm adopted, so maybe! 😆 west Virginia, I've heard it's beautiful. Always wanted to go there. My desk is the same, but I'm trying to get better. It's always feast or famine. Like you said, I haven't found my happy medium. Thank you so much for commenting😊❤️
I'll check thw orher vid, but i loce your idea! Of course, I've got a ton of those envelopes! They're waiting to be put in journals that I can't make fast enough because of the mess on my desk. I have 2 litle bins beside me, one with little tiny scraps of paper and one with lil tiny scraps of fabric . Seems to work for me. Always room for improvement and other ideas!
@heyjude85 thank you! I started with two bins like that too, but I never seemed to empty them, and eventually, I couldn't find the bins for all the things!! That's just me though. I am hoping I will stay on top of this better. So, I can tell more what's there, and the things on the bottom won't get lost in my chaos. 😊❤️
