Thank you so much for this. My snake of 12 years was in one of my outbuildings that got crushed by trees and smashed his enclosure in the last hurricane. He got out (or died.. we weren't sure). Loving these videos, very informative. My wife and I just switched from a tank to tubs (we had an as of yet unrecovered escape) and it seems to retain too much humidity. Daily I've been checking the humidity and drilling a few more holes in the lid. It's been dropping closer to where I need it. Is it safe to manage humidity this way? The snake should be ok at the wrong humidity for a few days until I have it all sorted, right?
Awesome videos I keep all my snakes in those. I’ve got nice healthy snakes I was worried about humidity but two years later they are still alive and doing well thx for the video love your instagram also!!!
LUCKILY, after 2 hours of SEARCHING, we found our corn snek (corney corn) hiding in my shoe, that was in a hanging shoe rack on the door. REALLY? HOW,WHY😂
Felix Felicis yes at that time he was in there. Now I have him in one of those Xmas tree storage containers. I also have my 1.5 year old bcc in one. Works well.
Jellee I had Trace Hardin ship him to me. I cannot speak enough good about dealing with him. I’ve only dealt with him once and I’m certainly glad I did. I still check his site every now and then to see what he has available, his breeders, etc... Last time I checked I don’t think he had anything available but after this here I think I’m going to check.
Jellee So I checked and nothing available but I went to his updates and says babies have been hatching. The date was 6/25/20. Hardin Herpetologica is the site.
I'd say it more than "might be" worth the little bit of extra money to buy a thermostat. It's absolutely necessary. Those heat mats get well over 100°F without a thermostat. You *will* cook your snake to death without one.
love the vids!! are you planning on doing a vid on leachianus geckos,i would love it, i want to get one but need the husbandry info, keep up the awesome work!!
I learn so much from your videos . Thank you... our BP's are S friendly as most of your snakes. Makes me think I'm doing something right. Again, thank you for your videos
I have a very important question! I'm getting a snake as a secret pet and I'm thinking of hiding it under my bed where not much light gets through (thinking of a milk snake, garter snake, or corn snake). Should I use a heating pad to heat the plastic bin or should I get a lamp so they get light? I'll be taking my snake out regularly to play with/handle so it will be in the light sometimes.
Getting a snake as a secret pet is a very bad idea. It’d be best to wait until you can get one. Regarding heating, overhead heating is best. A halogen flood bulb connected to a dimmer or dimming thermostat is the most natural and beneficial option. Heat mats are no good.
This was a great 3 part series. Question. I keep ball python in a 20 gallon glass tank. Just realized I can have many many more in these plastic containers. Is there any danger/ fire hazard with that UTH mat in direct contact with plastic?
As long as you have a thermostat connected to the heat mat it shouldn’t be hot enough to melt. Remember to always keep an eye out tho bc equipment does malfunction. But as long as you have the temp regulated you’re good to go. No need to worry!

Marcus La Bonte exactly Keep modifying for the right ventilation humidity balance.
@@NewEnglandReptile Holy shit, an actual reply. Thanks guys!
You guys rock! Favorite reptile channel hands down!!
Useful! I'm using similar containers to quarantine.
Awesome videos I keep all my snakes in those. I’ve got nice healthy snakes I was worried about humidity but two years later they are still alive and doing well thx for the video love your instagram also!!!
Great topic and very informative, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for these videos. I want to hear more about the super bitey retic you sent Brian Barzyc.
Bryan Luikart maybe he made friends with it. She was good prior. I think she got scared and lost it.
LUCKILY, after 2 hours of SEARCHING, we found our corn snek (corney corn) hiding in my shoe, that was in a hanging shoe rack on the door.
REALLY? HOW,WHY😂
How do you guys not have more subs? Your production quality is awesome. ❤️
Lauren Theos we don’t know. Maybe cuz we’re biting or something!! 😀
New England Reptile some people like that 😂😂
Love the vids could watch for hours. Keep teaching you guys are the best on TH-cam
I just set my baby Brazilian up in one of those sterilites yesterday. They’re inexpensive, easy and hold the humidity very well.
Brazilian Rainbow Boa? 🤔
Felix Felicis yes at that time he was in there. Now I have him in one of those Xmas tree storage containers. I also have my 1.5 year old bcc in one. Works well.
Where did you get your rainbow boa?
Love in the last couple videos Kevin
Are you going to do a video series on keeping arboreal snakes?
Kurt Kellner yes!
For a tub like those I'm using heat tape..would I put the tstat probe under the heat tape to properly regulate the heat at 90 for a burm?
love the vids!! are you planning on doing a vid on leachianus geckos,i would love it, i want to get one but need the husbandry info, keep up the awesome work!!
I did a video. DIY snake cages check that out and maybe a little led light for a light cycle that could work. K
Getting a snake as a secret pet is a very bad idea. It’d be best to wait until you can get one.
Regarding heating, overhead heating is best. A halogen flood bulb connected to a dimmer or dimming thermostat is the most natural and beneficial option. Heat mats are no good.
what a stupid person you are, and how stupid it is to give a answer like that, wtf
Awesome video keep them coming I have just started out with ball python and finding all your information very useful Thanks
My adult female ball python is in the process of incubating her eggs so glad I found this video for tips on a baby rack
This was a great 3 part series. Question. I keep ball python in a 20 gallon glass tank. Just realized I can have many many more in these plastic containers. Is there any danger/ fire hazard with that UTH mat in direct contact with plastic?
Red 357 thermostat!!!!!!! Rack systems. Freedom breeder. Animal plastics and such.
As long as you have a thermostat connected to the heat mat it shouldn’t be hot enough to melt. Remember to always keep an eye out tho bc equipment does malfunction. But as long as you have the temp regulated you’re good to go. No need to worry!
I'm so glad you guys started doing more videos :)
Do you know the brand of those tubs? And the size of the ball python one?
I’ve seen a lot of people do this but aren’t the snakes bored out of their minds? And how do they get enough exercise?
People’s don’t got that much money some don’t
@@DavidSarabia466 I’m not talking about money. I’m curious about the snakes getting enough exercise before I take this route. Want to keep my snake healthy and happy.
@@ConservativeHippie001 I know what your saying but people’s don’t got that much money or that they don’t want to spend that much money but I do think snakes are getting bored and disappointed
@@ConservativeHippie001 well snakes could be healthy but I think they will be bored unless it’s a small snake I know what your saying though I wanted to have a snake but my dad was like no because how overpriced tank gallons are
@@DavidSarabia466 Yeah, I definitely don’t have the money or the space for a super big setup and wondering if it’s just super selfish and unfair to the snake and maybe if I just shouldn’t get one.
Are you still planning to do an arboreal snake set up video?
I’ve recently started watching your content. Love the information, because I’m scared of snakes and this is making me more at ease. But I noticed their enclosures to me look really small. Do they need a lot of room for roaming around?
Do you have an online store to buy your kits from? Also can you talk about affordable rack systems. Many out there are not made for those of us with 5 or under snakes and I am not good enough to build my own.
When setting up the heating pad on the sterilite tub do you put something between the tub and the pad or just pad on the tub?
Th3Rm4N4t0R pad on the tub
New England Reptile okay I was just making sure the plastic tub wouldn’t get too hot and melt
Thank you you answered a bunch of questions I had!
Can you please show how you built your amazing enclosures for your amazon basin emeralds......please
What type of heater and thermostat would you guys recommend for a hatchling carpet python in a tub setup?
You and your information are so important, THANKYOU 🐊🐢🐍🦎🐺❤️
Can you give tub sizes, please? interest in ball python
I have thought bout using the reptile heat mats on the plastic tubs. But they wouldn’t melt the tub?
Kevin good video 👍🏼🐍
