i definitely understand his pov about supernova being underwhelming excluding the dance break, it was definitely intentional as the dance break was meant to be the high-point of the song especially as it was a pre-release title track. although supernova and armageddon are title tracks you can evidently see armageddon was meant to be the main title, supernova’s success was a shock to the girls and the company as armageddon was more aespa’s sound and concept so they expected more from that song :D
i actually disagree with this. i think supernova is way more aespa’s sound and concept with its unconventional beat and song structure (e.g., savage, next level) and bright/colorful teasers (e.g., black mamba, next level). armageddon had a more predictable hip hop sound (still a great song) and its dark concept was most similar to drama. i think it makes sense that supernova was the song that popped off considering their previous biggest hits were next level and savage. i think they shine the most with their more polarizing title tracks
when it comes to choreo I find supernova underwhelming. Don't misunderstood, I love listening to it. Just the choreo but guess it's also cause it's never meant to be thw main title track
13:39 I think that's why sometimes it's hard to watch people do covers of another group's choreo, or like it just doesn't hit the same, because even when they're doing the choreo "correctly" and the singing the right notes you can just tell that the song/choreo combo isn't deeply internalized the way it is for the members of the group who went through the entire process of creating the song and dance, recording the song, learning the choreo, and then practicing all of it hours upon hours for literally months. I think businesspeople call it synergy
