    Leg drive is always something I continually struggle with myself as well. I understand the concept, but when it comes time for me to apply it myself, I feel like I never get it right.

    I’ve got the opposite issue. I feel like I rely too much on my triceps and don’t use enough pec or shoulder. I think it’s my shoulders that are holding me back

      Try wider for a bit, but not so wide it feels like a different lift. Do them slow at first if your pecs aren't used to sharing the load. Can be easy to strain pec if you go wide suddenly and lift willy nilly with fast reversal speed

    What you just did in this video is to change this lifters form as to convert his bench press into a virtual decline bench press. Which is why it appears he became somewhat stronger. It's a cheat press, to appear he's stronger, while doing a bench press.
    Those of us that have lifted for a long time, all will tell you you are always stronger on the decline bench press than a standard bench press. And, there are reasons for this I'll explain at another time. The higher the arch and butt off the bench, the higher the chest raises angulating to the bar making it a decline bench press.
    This would be ok except for two things. Firstly, if you trained using this bench technique and your goal is to compete; there is no national or international sanctioned power lifting organization that would not disqualify you for using this technique. Unless you prefer to compete in Russia or Australia.
    Secondly, injury risks increase significantly doing this high bridging bench press over the standard bench press. Which is half the reason why power lifting organizations have strict guidelines concerning the specific form for performing the bench press
    The other reason, besides safety, is that it is a cheat lift, not a true bench press.
    If there are questions concerning the mechanism injury I'll be happy to explain any time.

      @@wadesoutdoors1914 I'm not an expert like Dave for example, but then it's normal to feel some pressure because of the back arch you're making. You're putting tension on your back that way. It shouldn't hurt though.

    • @zyncarla
      @zyncarla 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should be solid enough in the midsection staying ridged that the force should move through the body into the press. If you’re using leg drive and it’s almost making your arch fold you in half that’s a problem and can lead to injury. Does it feel like your ass is trying to move to your shoulders.
