Thank you for this episode of the series! Nomadic culture is represented in the science fiction novels I am writing. I found a full PDF version of the Mongol translation of the Secret History of the Mongols online. Previously, I have read two fascinating books by Macalester College professor, Jack Weatherford: Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World and The Secret History of the Mongol Queens. Mongolia created a foundation in his honor to promote Mongolian culture in the country. Jack is now a legal resident of Mongolia. Previously, he spent 18 years there for his research. I think those are worth checking out for someone interested in the topic.
It'd be good if Kate could listen more and talk less. In many ways, this episode shows the power of having power. Kate doesn't know much about the world NK Jemisin describes.
Heh, I just had a short conversation with Tricia Helfer about sidewalk chicken. She plays the game hard, but she is also a tall, pretty, white woman, which gives her a lot of privilege in the game.
I have chronic pain, and even a small bump can start a pain spiral for me, which has made me yeild yield yeild, in sidewalk chicken. Opens a discussion on disabilty and priveldge.
Thank you so much for doing this - very very illuminating
How could anyone dislike NK Jemisin?

Wonderful Episode. Thank You!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wonderful and insightful! Thank you for posting this!
Glad it was helpful!
My wife doesn't take my last name because of our iSomali culture.
In Europe, we were forced to take it though.
Great talk. You made me a bit paranoid with the "role" slide and how people size others up during small talk!
