I tried playing this on impossible and got my ass handed to me. I used Jedite to level up on all the chests and got implosion early to do tons of hit and runs. Still got crushed because the other hero stats were too overwhelming.
i think this is the newer version were dimmensional door and fly are enabled, you played the older harder version in the last playthrough. nevetheless its fun to watch
Demon farming is efficient only when you have Blind, basic+ Clone, Meteor and a lot of spell points. Waiting for enemies to kill a stack and resurrect only 1 stack per battle is so annoying and goes wrong in most cases.
You don't need any form of spellcasting to farm demons. Efficient =//= annoying. Expandable troops is what you need. Other towns, heroes from prisons, crappy dwellings, skeletons... All those spells you mention seem awful but, in particular... what's the deal with Clone ?
You put 1 stack pit lords + 6 stacks troops for conversion. You fight a weak monster, blind it so it don't bother you. Put all 6 troops next to each other and kill them with meteor(fireball, inferno work too but are weaker). Next step is to convert them. You convert 1 with the pit lords, but for the rest you clone the pit lords convert with the clone and then kill the clone with meteor to be able to clone again. At the end you kill the blind stack to exit the battle. This is for late game demon farming where you want most level 1-4 troops from all towns into Demons, not for converting your 50 Imps plus the 15 Gnolls you got from a dwelling.

The confusion with the magic well around 2:08:00 was because you had previously gotten in the last turn and tried to get it again in the same turn

The old version certainly has Dimension Door enabled. I got "ganked" by Dimension Door when I played it, before his last attempt.
i also had fly enabled since he used fly lol

Clones of Pit Lords can resurrect demons too. It's tricky but could be fun.
