    “It’s just hard to explain. If you’re not an Elvis fan, no explanation will suffice. If you are an Elvis fan, no explanation is necessary.” That was from a documentary about the King of Rock and Roll called Elvis: From the Beginning to the End. And after watching the new Baz Lurhmann movie about Elvis, which I only saw once, I think that I’m beginning to understand what that means. Elvis has always been an inspiration to me. One of my earliest Rock and Roll heroes. I’m only 26 and this quote has always been on my mind. And I truly believe that no one can actually explain. The movie gets it at least 95% right. I’m sure there a few things it got wrong, but I don’t care. It was awesome!!!!! Plus, through a free movie pass, I was able to see it for free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And you can’t beat that!!!! But I don’t want to talk about that. I want to talk about what Elvis means to me. And he means a whole lot!!!!!!

    The reason why priscilla and lisa aren't there is because they aren't getting paid to be there

    • @faeryquene
      @faeryquene 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I could understand Priscilla not being there as she was just Elvis's ex-wife. However, Lisa Marie was 18 at the time of her father's induction. She was old enough to have made the trip if she wanted to. Strange she didn't.

    All thing's Rock n Roll flow from the tree of life that was Elvis Aaron Presley, John Lennon had it right!
    Very cool having Julian and Sean induct Elvis, I think their Father would have been very proud of that Honor for his two Son's. I also think (IMO) Elvis would have been very disappointed that Lisa Marie wasn't there to Honor him 😒 The Hall did it right putting Elvis in first, they sure haven't done things right much since then.

    Who is Buddy Hally? Buddy HOLLY was a good singer, and like Elvis, a HOF'er. He saw Elvis perform and incorporated Elvis' Rockabilly style. Elvis had a gold record before Buddy had a record deal. Many back up singers?You mean like Buddy Holly had The Crickets?? Elvis never claimed to be a songwriter, but he was a great singer for many years, an outstanding showman, and he genuinely appreciated his fans. I respect Buddy Holly, but he wasn't around long enough to have the impact Elvis did.

    • @johngore7744
      @johngore7744 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Buddy was the first to play a Strat. And write and record his own songs. And his guitar style was signature. So was Scotty Moore’s ( Elvis’ original guitarist). Fontana and Blackwell were also in Elvis’ original line up and they rocked. The Sun recordings were legendary. Mystery Train Milk Cow Blues Shake Rattle And Roll. Classic rockers.

  • @deboisblanc

    I wrote the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame not long ago after seeing some artists inducted. I decided Elvis got the shaft because this show was nothing like the shows now. They need to do a rededication to him and have some of today's great artists pay tribute to him. Hardly anyone saw this when it aired.

    Sun records also had Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis,and rock ahd roll was happening and there wasChuck Berry who was the King of All rock and roll .He wrote songs and invented that guitar style that is more distinctive than any style Elvis was agreat entertainer ,,who didn't write songs ,wasn't that one of his Problems with the Beatles,actually helping Nixon to get them out of USA, nice guy! Anyway on any rock station,you never ever ever hear Elvis and he's the King! Whats wrong with that picture! I guess CLEAR CHANNEL thinks the same.To me he was a great entertainer but the king of Rock and Roll , as long as everyone is getting politely correct , this should have been straightened out before Elvis died because even he knew it was true,and before Chuck Berry died because he also knew who was Mr
    ROCK AND Roll he invented it but they couldn't give that title to a black man in the USA, in the 50's everyone knows this is fact if you know history of the music.
    Listen to JERRY LEE'S SUN RECORDINGS AND ELVIS SUN RECORDS WHO'S ROCKING MORE THERE,JERRY STILL HAS MORE ROCK AND ROLL IN ONE HAND THAN THEN ANYBODY. There still would have been Beatles,they sure didn't do Elvis songs he didn't write any .The Beatles and Stone did Chuck Berry Songs Carl Perkins Eddy Cochran, no Elvis he wasn't a writer thats why he bought Hill Range publishing at request of his Boss Mr Parker.Elvis was the greatest entertainer for a while just saying thats my story and I'm sticking to it!

    @MrPattyonline42 Priscilla probably had a date or was having plastic surgery and Lisa Marie although I like her, has not wanted much to do with public things concerning her father, she leaves that to her mother most of the time, don't know why except the fact that she feels uncomfortable doing it due to being shy or something.

    • @Slinger43
      @Slinger43 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you on Cilla, but Lisa Marie didn't seam too shy on Oprah, or with Johnny Carson, with Barbara Walters, or any other of the many talk shows she's been on. IMO she absolutely should have been there to Honor the Man who's responsible for ALL of the luxuries she has enjoyed during her lifetime & I thought it shameful that she wasn't there 🤨
