The guy who won actually hit 24 but you didn’t notice so I’m glad he won in the runoff! Amazing videos. I’m 8 months late but I’m watching so many of your vids everyday 😂
Crazy talent here. A lot of these athletes are at or 1 second off the world championship standard. Kudos to you Nick for giving these men and women some recognition, I’m sure without this video I would never know there are so many runners right on the cusp of going to the Olympics but not quite there. It’s amazing to me that in large part the same few runners are able to keep making it to the big dance when there’s so much depth right behind them. Really speaks to the talent of a runner at the top to know that there are so many competitors within a couple seconds just waiting for him to have an off race and take his place.
I'm going to be a junior and sprinted track since 7th grade. I'm training for my first xc season and love watching your videos, so motivating running miles on the treadmill! You're a huge inspiration Nick!
Really nice videos Nick, congratulations! I would be glad if you mentioned the speed in km/h also. You know, for the rest of the world who watches your content!
I love the fact most of the people you met are people who already know you yet you still introduce yourself Also love the fact THEY KNOW ALOT about you and have read your book.
Thought I was fast, so was not that impressed with these guys and girls running 19 or 20mph in Nick's videos. For me, fast meant 22 and over. So I borrowed a friend his watch/monitor to prove my point to myself: 17mph! That hurts soooo bad...
17mph means you got to a top speed of 3:31/mile pace. If you held that for 40 yards, it would be a 4.8 40 yard dash, but without a running start, you're likely well above 5 seconds, slower than most NFL offensive linemen. You've got to be an explosive, near- world class athlete to reach these speeds.
Thanks for this video. I don't specialy run but I train myself at the gym and lately I'm having a hard time finding inspiration to go due to the amount and results from exams. This video for some reason really motivated me to hit the gym tomorrow!
Mr. Symmonds, I'm a young female runner who just had my first year of track and field last spring. I'm trying to beat the school record. That would mean dropping less than 30 seconds from a 5:50 mile which hasn't been timed since last spring, to less than a 5:27 mile, which is the current record for my school. I train myself alone on my treadmill. I don't do any fancy track things or clubs, just my school team snd my year round conditioning I began last August. Do you have any tips for me?
I’ll advice you to do jump rope and long jogs. And also to do loads of core exercises. Core strength is essential to all athletes regardless of what they do.
@@iangarza990 Thanks so much! I'll be sure to go outside more, as my feet and shins are used to a soft treadmill and get shin splints if I move to hard surfaces to quickly. Thanks for being so kind!

Nice call Nick with the speed radar sign and wel done. Just one FYI - Will actually ran 24mph?!? The 24 can be seen flashing at 6:50, that is serious fly-time.
I wish that I had gotten to do this in my late teens, 20's, and 30's, using the neato radar clocker thing. In my 20's And 30's I used to practice sprints at various baseball parks. I remember at 19 I had a friend drive his car alongside me, while I was sprinting on this flat roadway section that didn't usually see much traffic. I remember that It was night-time, and I stayed slightly ahead of his car while his speedometer was reading 20 mph.I can also recollect that It was more or less basically a 100 yard sprint, or thereabouts that distance.
Speed meter actually flashed a 24 after you turned away and he passed the sign 6:50.
