Their entire family died, only leaving 2 siblings that should protect each other. (Except for sanemi's case, chapter 179 of the manga killed off genya) So yeah, that's quite a great detail. Something very similar happened to Sanemi and Genya but instead of Muzan it was their mother who had been turned into a demon and Sanemi had to kill her, Genya didn’t understand cause he was still pretty young and so Genya called Sanemi a murderer, and so Sanemi left Genya on his own so basically Sanemi lost his parents and kinda lost his sibling and Genya hated him.
