A lot of them are like that just not as bad. back then i didnt even think most of them were possible. Literally all of them if you want crazy time you have to use exploit.
Some of the par times are definitely set with speedrunning strats in mind (the achievement for Outskirts par time is Roof Jumper, obviously in reference to skipping most of the mission by jumping on roofs). So I'm guessing they accounted for these absurd tricks too.
Melt Not always, considering missions like Assault on the control room have normal Par Times, but can be beaten with old speedrun tactics in about 4 minutes
@@zena5459 you can do them on normal. You should be able to do any par time on normal even if you kill all enemies in the map/mission. Some maps you will have to leave a lot of enemies and just run past even on normal but for me doing them on normal is a waste, if you are trying to beat every campaign before 3 hours on legendary. Because then you are doing the par time again just on legendary when you can do it on legendary the first time and get more achievements at once. Anyone trying to beat the campaign in 3 hours on legendary, best advice is not get so into the exploits. Just beat the par time and then later on after you completed all mission times then you can really work on the crazy exploits and glitches. The hardest one for me is high charity zombie glitch at beginning that is one of very few glitches i dont think i could even pull off. The thing that sucks about those types like high charity is you can practice and practice and out of nowehere give up (which is the worst thing you can do) even rememeber how to do it months later and go back to try again and be way worse than when you first did it. A lot of these exploits and glitches have to be perfectly timed and some of them require certain checkpoints loaded.
Dude on his run there's only like 2 honor guards and 2 grunts. On mine I have 4 sword, 2 plasma and 4+ grunts! like what the fuck! I litterally die the second I get out of cover.
Using this route I managed to get from 53:34 to 27:48. I know that's terrible, but it's a hell of an improvement for me who's just starting up. Thanks!
Dont think the monopolized achievement is bullshit? To put this in perspective, take MrMonopoli's 2014 run which was 2:02:00. Thats like the world record hot dog eating champion eating say, 90 hot dogs, and expecting the common man to eat 60.
it really is especially since all h2 parttimes add up to 3.5 hours. in all other games its enough to hit partime for each level which is already hard enough for many on legendary.
Yeah but that’s a single segment run, for the achievement you can play every level individually and get as good a time as possible making it much easier, this games been completed in a little over an hour
First of all because of how RNG dependent this part is, if you're just going for monopolized but you're struggling on this level, you might just want to settle for taking slightly longer on some parts so you actually get through it, and making up for the time in other missions. Nonetheless I have advice from my own time doing this. - For the jump after killing the 5 Jackals. @waylonfinnerty8875 mentioned a trick which you should absolutely do instead. I'll repeat it here: look where the left railing ends, which on classic graphics has a faint splatter of white at the end (you might not see it until you're close to landing). You want your feet to land on that part right at the end and jump off to get the slope bounce over to the rectangle jutting out at the side. Keep trying until you understand what I mean. When you get it, that slope bounce becomes super easy and consistent without requiring a lot of precision in your jumping. It means you don't have to waste a nade there too. If you get harassed by a Carbine elite while trying to do this, you can either shoot the beam rifle from atop the ledge you are jumping from and wait for him to pop out, or shoot towards where he is before you grenade jump up and he will peek (if he doesn't follow down the slope after you jump). That will stop him from killing you before you get up and across. - For the long jump after the slope bounce to get onto the gondola for the first time. When you're walking off the ledge, as you start falling your vision will bump down a tad. That's the exact moment you need to jump and no sooner. Practice from checkpoints if you can and just reactively press the jump button as soon as your camera starts to move vertically. It's a hard jump if you aren't familiar with it so don't get demoralized. God Despawn: I read somewhere online that the god despawn will always happen if you delay the checkpoint around the time the phantom appears. I am not sure if this is guaranteed but after killing all of the spawn several times and then not having the god despawn happen anyways, delaying the checkpoint got the god despawn to work the first time. (you can delay checkpoints by spamming jumping and melee). My successful run at this, when you trigger the spawn to happen and the gondola to start up, I threw one sticky simply at the center of where the squad spawns, jumped over the ledge on the left side (so i would be slightly covered when they spawned in), and bunnyhopped back over to the gondola just barely before it left. Almost died but took cover in front of the closest panel on the gondola. Try that if you are struggling with god despawn. If you're trying to cut precious time, I wouldn't even bother continuing with the mission if the god despawn doesn't happen. I'm talking from experience. You lose too much time and resources by fighting on that gondola. Just keep restarting and trying to skip that checkpoint before the phantom. The later parts of the mission I think ARE worth continuing if they go slightly wrong: - Jackals coming up out the elevator, you can ambush them from atop the elevator if you either failed the spawn plasma nade or were totally out of nades at this point. Don't use the fuel rod on them though, it's too useful for the later parts of the mission and you want as much as you can. Grab a plasma pistol if you think you'll need to gun them down. - Hallway with elites; you can hide under the stairway 'slope' near the entrance in one of these ones, and there are two fully charged plasma rifles down there if you aren't able to break their shields. This is a decent place to recharge shields if you are in trouble. Again its probably worth accepting slightly slower timing on this if going for monopolized, assuming things go south. When this happened to me, the sword elite from the elevator entered the battle in the hallway, so if you're fighting here make sure not to forget the sword if he goes there. - Outside ledge jump with bugs; if you're slightly slow you can buy some more time with a plasma grenade to your left, which can sometimes push attackers from finishing you off before you jump down.
Really struggling to kill Regret on legendary. I swear the Warden x3 was easier than this. I get plasma rifle elites, endlessly, I can't just jump off Regret. I land into death every time.
+Patrick Woehrer I've now done it. Can't really explain how. Massive part was luck. I hid in the opening to the main room like a coward and picked off elites until I had a window to punch that floating turtle in the head. Rinse and repeat.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. other than the boss fight this was the hardest thing for me because it would take me forever just to make a perfect grenade line up and then just to have it be 25% of even working was just too heartbreaking for me. Replaying this a year later and this comment saved my sanity, thanks to you and Eli i got 13:20 and I feel like i can actually complete this game now that i'm done all of Laso and the hardest speed running levels.
Eli grinds the same mission over and over until he gets a good time. Monopoli generally does full runs. I dare bet Monopoli would win a race hands down
In the beginning when you make that jump to the small square platform you don’t have to grenade jump. Instead you can jump all the way to the left railing where you’d normally throw a grenade and when you fall into the slope and press jump it’ll launch you with plenty of speed and height. Hope that makes sense!
Actually gravemind is easily much harder and longer... and in my opinion the ark and the covenant missions on halo 3 could contend with gravemind because of the scarabs. Having good positioning a methods for those two missions will give you a small percent chance of getting it done but those scarab mission you haft to rely purely on luck imo

The nade jump over the broken bridge almost never works. Just jump on the left edge of the bridge and release crouch and press jump again when you touch that edge. It will launch you like a bullet. No grenade necessary.
Important tip: To despawn the phantom w/hunters as you're on the gondola, *keep spamming melee* without triggering the checkpoint until you see it disappear. Managed to make it in 14:45. So much RNG in the final room, those plasma-rifle wielding elites are a nightmare. Never again. 😤💢
@Tslav TV You're still gonna want to throw two or three grenades at them when you go to spawn them in so you don't get melted instantly by them, but no, you don't have to kill everyone pretty sure, but it helps to take as much out as possible so you don't die trying to actually get on the gondola
I feel it's worth noting that on my legit run on legendary I killed all of the honor guards and managed to prevent them respawning during the fight, making it infinitely easier. It will add a minute or two, but will significantly reduce the RNG of the fight since the only respawning enemies are grunts. What I did to make them not respawn was bring each of the honor guards from the boss room into the previous room, without ever entering the boss room, and killed all of them before the fight started. There is 4 I believe, but you want to have the outside and previous room clear in order to do this. It is not a world record strategy but will help minimize time by reducing the RNG of the fight for a lot of you.
Uhh in 2019 you need to delay the checkpoint after killing the 2 elites/jackals to get the despawn to work. You can do that by spamming jump and melee.
I don't know what the hell is going on with my game I boarded regret, punched him a few times, then he teleported. Board him again, and I've now punched him 50+ times, and he won't teleport. Also honor guards keep spawning, so there is about 30 honor guards in the room, many of them with plasma rifles. I'm lost hehe
It adds no time at all and makes the god despawn wayyyy more reliable. Punch when on the gondola. Keep punching as fast as you can to not get the checkpoint till after the despawn. That mixed with the newer one grenade in middle stick left elite tac youve shown us. Boom. I couldn’t get it to work even once until i did the punch thing!
+Gut ZZ Thats exactly my problem. I land on the ground and die in one second. I try to kill all elites and a standoff ensues at the entrance (where all the weapons are). I can see the only way for me to kill regret is to punch then run back, snipe all elites, punch....repeat x 5.....soooooo hard
I can't run from them, regret drops me off in the corners or dead ends and I can't even do anything. I've already beat the other games, XD it's just this mission that pisses me off the most
Gut ZZ i recommend noob combo with either sword and PP or BR and PP. kill all the elites after each round of punching. Hard to speedrun, but pretty easy.
13:54 -- using Boom, Grunt Birthday Party, IWHBYD, Pinata, Prophet Birthday Party, and Sputnik. And saving and quitting. Even though I watched it with my own eyes, I cannot comprehend how you got 11:50.
No matter how many times I repeat this mission, I'm never given achievement credit for it even though the game shows I've beaten it solo on Legendary. It's the last one I need so I get credit for having beaten the game too.
It took a while, but the problem eventually fixed itself. One day I turned on my xbox and the achievements popped up. Took a few months though, so weird.
1:24 Just to clarify for everyone you don't have to kill all 6 of those enemies to get the god despawn. I just got it without killing all of them. (note: I did save and quite rate after I left on the gonadal but before the phantom spawned.
Not sure if anyone else will read this but I figured out what causes the God Despawn. There is a set trigger for the phantom that's tied with the timing of the troops left alive in that little section. If you can kill them all within the span of about 30 or so seconds the phantom will not spawn and that sequence will be skipped entirely ass the phantom doesn't even load in.
This level keeps screwing me so bad. I get to the final fight and every time I need to board the prophet one more time, he drops me on sword elites. RNGesus is not on my side.
This mission sucks soooooo much. This was the one mission that stopped me in my first attempt at Legendary so many years ago. I can't conceive how LASO runners can pull it off. Anyways, the grenade jumps at the beginning and the God-despawn are amazing. I managed to pull it off after several attempts and, yeah, you pretty much have to nail that Killtrocity before stepping into the gondola in order to get it. I used to suffer going through the large area in the first submerged temple and now it seems like a breeze. Unfortunately, Regret's temple is kicking my ass. Rushing through the entrance is getting me killed over and over... :(
I was able to get 17:09 today thanks to this guide! Didnt even get a god despawn, so i had to clutch some moments up. Got a nice checkpoint at the beginning of the regret fight so i could save/quit when i died to reset the fight. Only gravemind left for the achievement, major thanks! For anyone having trouble with this; i found that Sputnik, boom, grunt funeral, and pinata all helped to clear the enemies faster and get more nades
Regret's boss battle against the Prophet makes this level easily the hardest mission in the game on Legendary. Not to mention the mission Gravemind which was completely unforgiving.
By the gods, I did this one and got 22min and then my Xbox just said no you havent done this time challange, I got so sad and angry that I didn´t play Halo:mcc for 2 weeks, but now I got it in 13min instead :) Thank you so much Eli for this guide!
I had the scarab skull on and it took me 20+ tries to get past that boss fight. Easily one of my favorite games of all time, but I'm just not good enough to beat it on Legendary without help.
I cannot for the life of me get the elite on the left side, I always get 5 kills in a row but he always lives. I've shot him as the gondola was moving during multiple attempts now and it doesn't despawn the hunters. I swear I do it fast enough but idfk (Edit): Thank fuck I read the comments, if anybody else can see this before watching, the bit where you throw the grenades to kill the two elites and jackals at the beginning of this run, you don't need to kill them all. Kill most or hell, maybe none if you can survive it, and then jump + melee to delay the checkpoint on the gondola to get the despawn
Oh my god Nak3d eli you are such a beast! I did this mission first run and holy shit it took 8 minutes to get the damn launch right at the beginning I survived with a 21 minute clear. I don't know how you do it.
I can make the grenade jumps in earlier levels and the first one in this, but can't make the easy non-grenade jump onto the pillar at the beginning. WTF?
Could someone tell me specificly how to do the god despawn. I get a killtrocity, jump on the gondola but the phantom doesnt despawn and still drops of the hunters.
ski11az extremely late comment but if you get on the gondola, you don't actually have to kill them, just keep jumping up and down and for whatever reason the phantom will despawn.
Advise for all, if you are not interested in doing a vanilla run consider adding Sputnik Boom and Pinata. These all help me with whatever jumps Eli has makes them alot easier and just more damage all around. The achievements are not affected by this at all. Also dont be afraid to take a little time on Regret at the end a little scoping around instead of just the balls to the wall method can increase your chances of survival drastically. My final time with my methods landed me 12:01 which I am more than satisfied with.

Does anyone helse have the problem, that the second grenade jump doesnt work because the grenade does not detonate? Mine wont detonate when i jump right before when i wait until it detonates, then i cant get high enough
If yall are having trouble doing that beginning jump, you should just back out and turn on the Sputnik skull. Did it on my first try with it when I spent like 45 minutes trying to hit it. 😭
Josh Willey yeah. Doing really well and he said you need the sword. I was like fuuuu- and ruined my run cuz I spent the next ten minutes trying to get the sword.
I was hitting the prophet and once it kicked me off the first time an elite swung at me with a sword, hit regret and he died. Probably hard to recreate but it could speed up a run if you could figure out how make it happen
for me, my main issue was: when entering the boss fight room where you sword the grunt and distract/stick the elites by each door, the elite would either ignore the grenade, sprint out much faster than it was supposed to and shoot me, or block the door so the grenade would kill me. and, regret seemingly gliding directly towards the elites. like, it felt like it is meant to do that. if i boarded regret, it quite literally would move in the ONLY direction that there are elites whilst also gliding down to the floor which is where the elites can hit me. for the first problem i ignored the grunt. it only takes an extra second or two and they will not alert or shoot at you since they are in some sort of cutscene like sequence. the elite will run out of the door most of the time to where it was in the video and you can throw the grenade on the floor in the middle of where the enemies are and they will almost always try to dodge it. i do not have a solution to the other problem other than just giving up and uninstalling this irritating game. goodluck.
k so after eventually doing those jumps, i killed all the jackal snipers on my first go and didnt make the jump across so had to go again, and now suddenly the jackal snipers have 100% accuracy... And you dont start this mission with the beam rifle..
+Dark demon Really? I start the mission with the beam rifle every time even if selecting the mission manually. Also move around a bit at the top after taking out a few or all of the snipers (and possibly the elite below you), you should get a checkpoint so you can practice your jump.
+Richard G As long as you need. I in no way ran this as a speed run but used the techniques in this video to skip a lot of the annoying parts of the mission. To get the checkpoint on the roof before jumping I had to take out the elite below me as well.
The Hunter despawn is weird, i remember when i played this as a kid normally. When you are on the platform where the hunters are dropped the phantom sometimes just despawns right before it drops the hunters when you stop looking at it and are in the little construction thing on the middle of that "island"
I had 5000 points on Legendary on this level. Then I got to the Regret fight and dropped to -1400 (you lose 100 point per death. Do the math). I'm gonna go live my life now, thanks for the guide!
Beat this with 10 seconds to spare. Was stressful as FUCK. Nowhere as good as your run, but I finally beat par time on all the H2 missions thanks to your guides.
I tried to do those beginning nade jumps after skipping Delta Halo, but when I jumped up to launch out of the building, everything below me despawned until I landed back on it. Also, the prophet of regret won’t be in his chair in the hologram if you improperly skip delta halo.
Currently working my way through the Monopolised achievement. 5 levels to go incl this 1.I was struggling with the crouch jump at 34 seconds, so instead you can use the little alcove to the left, run along the top of the wall and jump over easily. You can still get the de-spawn as I did using this method.
+Sam Swanson i found the jump easier to do from the ledge (as you start a bit higher). The de-spawn is all about timing. the 3 grenades are easy its the last 1 you throw at the elite where you have to move forward slightly so they spawn that is hard to time. AS SOON as they appear you need to be turning and getting on gondola before platform retracts
Why didn't you stick Regret with a plasma grenade? If you stick him immediately before boarding, the grenade will get actually get stuck on him and take out a huge chunk of his health.
I have been trying to get through Halo 2 on co-op legendary, and I wanted your advice on this game; can your speedrun tactics be applied to a co-op run of this game? I have attempted some of them and they have not worked because of issues with the games scripting (I am only guessing this I am probably wrong). I also want to add that when you head for the second water elevator, after activating the switch, it despawns all the enemies in the previous room. I assume this only works on co-op as certaing ingame events only occur when both players are in a specific location, i.e. the first gondola ride or when entering the elevator.
Speedrunning on Co op doesn't make sense, assuming everything went perfectly, you'd need every trick done twice. Just play Co op if you want to play with someone and come back and speedrun solo later. I ran legendary solo regularly and enjoyed it then came back to speedrun legendary afterwards. Increases replay value.
I've completed both halo 1 and 2 both on legendary but for some reason I don't have the achievements to prove it Also the " legend" achievement isn't tracking my progress past 37%. I'm starting to get frustrated by this because it's not only that achievement that I'm having issues with. I've got about 20 other achievements that still say that their unlocking but they've still yet to pop. But I don't really care about those achievements I only care about getting the "legend" achievement because the the armour you get for the Halo 5 beta from it

I've pulled a despawn on that phantom that drops off the hunters that didn't involve me doing what you did and I still haven't quite figured out how I did it but I jumped on top of that middle triangle looking thing right when the phantom was coming up, then it just vanished.
+DaveWatch For the achievement comeplete it legendary under 3 hours. If you die your time doesnt stop, but if you save and quit your time will reset to your last checkpoint.
I like how this insane speed run that exploits the level is 12 minutes long and the par time for the level is 15 minutes

Really struggling to kill Regret on legendary. I swear the Warden x3 was easier than this. I get plasma rifle elites, endlessly, I can't just jump off Regret. I land into death every time.
+Patrick Woehrer I've now done it. Can't really explain how. Massive part was luck. I hid in the opening to the main room like a coward and picked off elites until I had a window to punch that floating turtle in the head. Rinse and repeat.
True, but at the same time, comparing it to the 3 Warden fight doesn't mean much, seeing as how easy it is to skip that fight.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. other than the boss fight this was the hardest thing for me because it would take me forever just to make a perfect grenade line up and then just to have it be 25% of even working was just too heartbreaking for me. Replaying this a year later and this comment saved my sanity, thanks to you and Eli i got 13:20 and I feel like i can actually complete this game now that i'm done all of Laso and the hardest speed running levels.

Eli grinds the same mission over and over until he gets a good time. Monopoli generally does full runs. I dare bet Monopoli would win a race hands down
In the beginning when you make that jump to the small square platform you don’t have to grenade jump. Instead you can jump all the way to the left railing where you’d normally throw a grenade and when you fall into the slope and press jump it’ll launch you with plenty of speed and height. Hope that makes sense!

Actually gravemind is easily much harder and longer... and in my opinion the ark and the covenant missions on halo 3 could contend with gravemind because of the scarabs. Having good positioning a methods for those two missions will give you a small percent chance of getting it done but those scarab mission you haft to rely purely on luck imo

The nade jump over the broken bridge almost never works. Just jump on the left edge of the bridge and release crouch and press jump again when you touch that edge. It will launch you like a bullet. No grenade necessary.
Important tip: To despawn the phantom w/hunters as you're on the gondola, *keep spamming melee* without triggering the checkpoint until you see it disappear.
Managed to make it in 14:45. So much RNG in the final room, those plasma-rifle wielding elites are a nightmare. Never again. 😤💢
@Tslav TV You're still gonna want to throw two or three grenades at them when you go to spawn them in so you don't get melted instantly by them, but no, you don't have to kill everyone pretty sure, but it helps to take as much out as possible so you don't die trying to actually get on the gondola
I feel it's worth noting that on my legit run on legendary I killed all of the honor guards and managed to prevent them respawning during the fight, making it infinitely easier. It will add a minute or two, but will significantly reduce the RNG of the fight since the only respawning enemies are grunts. What I did to make them not respawn was bring each of the honor guards from the boss room into the previous room, without ever entering the boss room, and killed all of them before the fight started. There is 4 I believe, but you want to have the outside and previous room clear in order to do this. It is not a world record strategy but will help minimize time by reducing the RNG of the fight for a lot of you.

Uhh in 2019 you need to delay the checkpoint after killing the 2 elites/jackals to get the despawn to work. You can do that by spamming jump and melee.

I boarded regret, punched him a few times, then he teleported.
Board him again, and I've now punched him 50+ times, and he won't teleport. Also honor guards keep spawning, so there is about 30 honor guards in the room, many of them with plasma rifles.

It adds no time at all and makes the god despawn wayyyy more reliable. Punch when on the gondola. Keep punching as fast as you can to not get the checkpoint till after the despawn. That mixed with the newer one grenade in middle stick left elite tac youve shown us. Boom. I couldn’t get it to work even once until i did the punch thing!
There are so many plasma rifle guards, i cant get near the boss without falling down and getting shot, any way around this
+Gut ZZ Thats exactly my problem. I land on the ground and die in one second. I try to kill all elites and a standoff ensues at the entrance (where all the weapons are). I can see the only way for me to kill regret is to punch then run back, snipe all elites, punch....repeat x 5.....soooooo hard
I can't run from them, regret drops me off in the corners or dead ends and I can't even do anything. I've already beat the other games, XD it's just this mission that pisses me off the most

Gut ZZ i recommend noob combo with either sword and PP or BR and PP. kill all the elites after each round of punching. Hard to speedrun, but pretty easy.

No matter how many times I repeat this mission, I'm never given achievement credit for it even though the game shows I've beaten it solo on Legendary. It's the last one I need so I get credit for having beaten the game too.
It took a while, but the problem eventually fixed itself. One day I turned on my xbox and the achievements popped up. Took a few months though, so weird.
1:24 Just to clarify for everyone you don't have to kill all 6 of those enemies to get the god despawn. I just got it without killing all of them. (note: I did save and quite rate after I left on the gonadal but before the phantom spawned.

you need to keep jumping/meleeing after you get on the gondola to delay the checkpoint. otherwise the despawn won't work all the time

Not sure if anyone else will read this but I figured out what causes the God Despawn.
There is a set trigger for the phantom that's tied with the timing of the troops left alive in that little section. If you can kill them all within the span of about 30 or so seconds the phantom will not spawn and that sequence will be skipped entirely ass the phantom doesn't even load in.
This level keeps screwing me so bad. I get to the final fight and every time I need to board the prophet one more time, he drops me on sword elites. RNGesus is not on my side.
This mission sucks soooooo much. This was the one mission that stopped me in my first attempt at Legendary so many years ago. I can't conceive how LASO runners can pull it off.
Anyways, the grenade jumps at the beginning and the God-despawn are amazing. I managed to pull it off after several attempts and, yeah, you pretty much have to nail that Killtrocity before stepping into the gondola in order to get it. I used to suffer going through the large area in the first submerged temple and now it seems like a breeze. Unfortunately, Regret's temple is kicking my ass. Rushing through the entrance is getting me killed over and over... :(
I was able to get 17:09 today thanks to this guide! Didnt even get a god despawn, so i had to clutch some moments up. Got a nice checkpoint at the beginning of the regret fight so i could save/quit when i died to reset the fight. Only gravemind left for the achievement, major thanks!
For anyone having trouble with this; i found that Sputnik, boom, grunt funeral, and pinata all helped to clear the enemies faster and get more nades

Every time I do get up there I get shot to pieces before I even drop my nade.

Regret's boss battle against the Prophet makes this level easily the hardest mission in the game on Legendary. Not to mention the mission Gravemind which was completely unforgiving.
By the gods, I did this one and got 22min and then my Xbox just said no you havent done this time challange, I got so sad and angry that I didn´t play Halo:mcc for 2 weeks, but now I got it in 13min instead :) Thank you so much Eli for this guide!

I had the scarab skull on and it took me 20+ tries to get past that boss fight.
Easily one of my favorite games of all time, but I'm just not good enough to beat it on Legendary without help.

I cannot for the life of me get the elite on the left side, I always get 5 kills in a row but he always lives. I've shot him as the gondola was moving during multiple attempts now and it doesn't despawn the hunters. I swear I do it fast enough but idfk
(Edit): Thank fuck I read the comments, if anybody else can see this before watching, the bit where you throw the grenades to kill the two elites and jackals at the beginning of this run, you don't need to kill them all. Kill most or hell, maybe none if you can survive it, and then jump + melee to delay the checkpoint on the gondola to get the despawn

Oh my god Nak3d eli you are such a beast! I did this mission first run and holy shit it took 8 minutes to get the damn launch right at the beginning I survived with a 21 minute clear. I don't know how you do it.
I can make the grenade jumps in earlier levels and the first one in this, but can't make the easy non-grenade jump onto the pillar at the beginning. WTF?
Could someone tell me specificly how to do the god despawn. I get a killtrocity, jump on the gondola but the phantom doesnt despawn and still drops of the hunters.
get a killtac get on the gondola and snipe the last guy twice in the Head
ski11az extremely late comment but if you get on the gondola, you don't actually have to kill them, just keep jumping up and down and for whatever reason the phantom will despawn.

Advise for all, if you are not interested in doing a vanilla run consider adding Sputnik Boom and Pinata. These all help me with whatever jumps Eli has makes them alot easier and just more damage all around. The achievements are not affected by this at all. Also dont be afraid to take a little time on Regret at the end a little scoping around instead of just the balls to the wall method can increase your chances of survival drastically. My final time with my methods landed me 12:01 which I am more than satisfied with.

I was hitting the prophet and once it kicked me off the first time an elite swung at me with a sword, hit regret and he died. Probably hard to recreate but it could speed up a run if you could figure out how make it happen
for me, my main issue was:
when entering the boss fight room where you sword the grunt and distract/stick the elites by each door, the elite would either ignore the grenade, sprint out much faster than it was supposed to and shoot me, or block the door so the grenade would kill me.
and,
regret seemingly gliding directly towards the elites. like, it felt like it is meant to do that. if i boarded regret, it quite literally would move in the ONLY direction that there are elites whilst also gliding down to the floor which is where the elites can hit me.
for the first problem i ignored the grunt. it only takes an extra second or two and they will not alert or shoot at you since they are in some sort of cutscene like sequence. the elite will run out of the door most of the time to where it was in the video and you can throw the grenade on the floor in the middle of where the enemies are and they will almost always try to dodge it.
i do not have a solution to the other problem other than just giving up and uninstalling this irritating game.

k so after eventually doing those jumps, i killed all the jackal snipers on my first go and didnt make the jump across so had to go again, and now suddenly the jackal snipers have 100% accuracy... And you dont start this mission with the beam rifle..
+Dark demon Really? I start the mission with the beam rifle every time even if selecting the mission manually.
Also move around a bit at the top after taking out a few or all of the snipers (and possibly the elite below you), you should get a checkpoint so you can practice your jump.
+Richard G As long as you need. I in no way ran this as a speed run but used the techniques in this video to skip a lot of the annoying parts of the mission.
To get the checkpoint on the roof before jumping I had to take out the elite below me as well.
The Hunter despawn is weird, i remember when i played this as a kid normally. When you are on the platform where the hunters are dropped the phantom sometimes just despawns right before it drops the hunters when you stop looking at it and are in the little construction thing on the middle of that "island"

I had 5000 points on Legendary on this level. Then I got to the Regret fight and dropped to -1400 (you lose 100 point per death. Do the math).

Beat this with 10 seconds to spare. Was stressful as FUCK. Nowhere as good as your run, but I finally beat par time on all the H2 missions thanks to your guides.
I tried to do those beginning nade jumps after skipping Delta Halo, but when I jumped up to launch out of the building, everything below me despawned until I landed back on it. Also, the prophet of regret won’t be in his chair in the hologram if you improperly skip delta halo.

The first 35 seconds are pure satisfction.
Currently working my way through the Monopolised achievement. 5 levels to go incl this 1.I was struggling with the crouch jump at 34 seconds, so instead you can use the little alcove to the left, run along the top of the wall and jump over easily. You can still get the de-spawn as I did using this method.

+Sam Swanson i found the jump easier to do from the ledge (as you start a bit higher). The de-spawn is all about timing. the 3 grenades are easy its the last 1 you throw at the elite where you have to move forward slightly so they spawn that is hard to time. AS SOON as they appear you need to be turning and getting on gondola before platform retracts
I just kept looking to the right towards the ramp and I only had to board the prophet once and after a 6 hits I killed him.

Why didn't you stick Regret with a plasma grenade? If you stick him immediately before boarding, the grenade will get actually get stuck on him and take out a huge chunk of his health.
It's pretty annoying that this mission is impossible to get the par time on without doing these glitches.
I think thoses are mean to be done on normal difficulty

I have been trying to get through Halo 2 on co-op legendary, and I wanted your advice on this game; can your speedrun tactics be applied to a co-op run of this game? I have attempted some of them and they have not worked because of issues with the games scripting (I am only guessing this I am probably wrong).
I also want to add that when you head for the second water elevator, after activating the switch, it despawns all the enemies in the previous room. I assume this only works on co-op as certaing ingame events only occur when both players are in a specific location, i.e. the first gondola ride or when entering the elevator.
Speedrunning on Co op doesn't make sense, assuming everything went perfectly, you'd need every trick done twice. Just play Co op if you want to play with someone and come back and speedrun solo later. I ran legendary solo regularly and enjoyed it then came back to speedrun legendary afterwards. Increases replay value.
I think doing a slide jump (off the railing on the right) on the bridge in the beginning is easier and more reliable than the God launch.

I've completed both halo 1 and 2 both on legendary but for some reason I don't have the achievements to prove it Also the " legend" achievement isn't tracking my progress past 37%. I'm starting to get frustrated by this because it's not only that achievement that I'm having issues with. I've got about 20 other achievements that still say that their unlocking but they've still yet to pop.
But I don't really care about those achievements I only care about getting the "legend" achievement because the the armour you get for the Halo 5 beta from it
I'd say 343 needs to do some bug/glitch fixing.

I've pulled a despawn on that phantom that drops off the hunters that didn't involve me doing what you did and I still haven't quite figured out how I did it but I jumped on top of that middle triangle looking thing right when the phantom was coming up, then it just vanished.
