our band played this and one member called it "our conductor's villain arc"
one of the greatest wind band compositions EVER (for me)! Thanks Maestro Pina!!!
Our conductor said in the beginning when we got handed the piece: "Normally there is a CD with sound FX, but we wont use it, we will play classical."
Fortunately we were able to convince him with a few musicians, the CD adds so much! Awesome piece. Greetings from Belgium, Percussionist!
Nice you used the electronics! If you like this you will like SAJELBON, 15 minutes with electronics! ;)

Probably because of logistics (if you want to have a great effect you need big dick sound boxes :p), but you certainly right.
@@Chibibowa Edit: we didn't play with the CD, instead he asked me to write the cd part out as an extra percussion part (because there are not enough already ? xD) But it sounds cool, if you want to listen to is: The Ghost Ship by MusicOfSonora and you wil find it! :)
This piece is so complicated and every part of it is so beautiful. I love the pieces of Pina
Masterpiece played during our annual concert of Ste-Cécile (our patronness of musicians), Thiviers, France
Great success, nourished applauses from the audience, a great moment for all of us, four percussionists. Climatic and telluric music, vibrations, emotions, intensity, peace. An "all-in-one" piece.
We've already played "Pompei" 2 years ago. Same pleasure. See all above : D
Merci Mr José !
Nice you've enjoyed with The Ghost Ship ;) I wish you all the best and I hope to listen to you in a live performance!
What a masterpiece!! I love it!! You can feel every emotion in this piece!! So incredible but a very complicated!! I hope we'll play this piece with my orchestra when we have permission to play again. Greetings from the Netherlands, first Clarinet here!!
Hey Dominique, I wish you all the best in these difficult times. I'm sure we will enjoy again playing music. Take care and stay healthy. Hugs! :)
We play this with our orchestra and you can just feel the energy from everywhere! This is an absolute masterpiece. Greetings from Belgium, second flute and piccolo!
Dude i'm also from Belgium and also playing that with my orchestra! That's so cool
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! another masterpiece the percussion section would have to be huge.
In played with an orchestra and we had 8 drummers on the percussions
We have ten percussionists and because we are as Germans not used to the Timpanis not all notes are played.
@@benediktmeier7159 I play in a german youth orchestra and we didn't have enough percussionists, but trust me one of our percussionists played the timpani extrememely well, so I don't think you can generally say we as germans aren't good at timpani
@@christineblunck3853 Well I can't remember saying we aren't good at timpani. In fact our player is extremly good but timpanis playing almost the same as the tubas is nothing a german player sees every day. This is more common in america.
Magnifique morceau !

We played this at a symphonic wind band weekender this weekend! What an epic piece!
@JoseAlbertoPina, merci! ✨
I am very proud to have recorded this piece, great moment
Maestro Tiago Sousa! Percussionist of one of the best percussion section I've ever heard! Congratulations!
Heard it yesterday at a concert. Greetings from Upper Austria absolutely in love with it🎉
In my opinion the best composition for an orchestra
Thank you very much!! I hope you will enjoy my next compositions!! ;) ;)
15:30 is the best part but i wish it would've ended on that emotional feeling and not getting rushed like at the end... still one of my absolute favorites
I played this piece yesterday night and WOW, it was fantastic, incredible, the energy, the musical elements, absolutely one of the best piece that I`ve ever played
Thank you Lorenzo for your kind words! I hope you enjoyed playing this music? Which instrument do you play and what orchestra?
@@JoseAlbertoPina I play the second sax that was not too complicated, with the Trentino Young orchestral (Trentino is a little part the North Italy).
Machtig mooi. In mn jonge jeugd, 6/16 jaar, dit soort dingen gespeeld, klarinet. Maakt veel los. Hele gezin was muzikant.
Super late In these comments lol, but I’m a freshman in wind ensemble and I want to play this so bad. I love the timpani solos so much :)
I wish this super cool piece was playable for brass band, mister Pina please arrange it for brass
We had some dancers joining a part of our concert :) You can find that on youtube, it's titeled "Sinfonisches Blasorchester Antoniuskolleg - The Ghost Ship"
Me encanta esta obra
Es increible esta obra. Lo digo por experiencia
Funny thing, the electronic ticking sample which starts at 8:40 is exactly the same as in the beginning of "Blood Moon" by the Australian metal band "Make Them Suffer"
Is it possible to play it without the piano and the electronic instruments? Probably not? It is unfortunately not allowed to us to use them in our competition.
Because I really love this piece. Actually I had to cry the first time I heard it. 😅 great work!!
Try to convince the jury of the competition.. Piano and Electronics are part of the composition.... Electronics does not replace live instruments, it is an add-on..
Any flute want to give me tips on how to play THAT FAST starting at bar X
It's more or less a scale and doesn't have too many bad jumps, from what I can tell. Practice slowly and in little packages, then link everything together and speed it up. And if you can switch off with another flute, do it. That'll give you a bar or two to catch your breath.
(also, it's so fast that most people won't notice if you skip a note here or there... it's just added movemement to the main melody) ;)
Can I write or arrange a song and you publish it?
alguien español?
@Marlena van HaalenYou can listen to The Bermuda Triangle, The Island of Light, POMPEII, and my last composition SAJELBON for concert band and pre-recorded electronics ;)
@Marlena van Haalen Did you try Pompeii? Very good also.... or maybe you can find something here: th-cam.com/play/PLXyK_ev1oYoqGNTQZvEXg1TGI6cwCgmia.html
11:33 What's this voice...
it's a CD/track that is included with this piece. You start it at a certain point and it adds all kinds of sounds
No wonder i feel like Ive heard this theme before, it sounds like the opening theme for the kdrama Taxi Driver, but an extended version??
Thanks for your comment, the intention was to create epic music for the story of The Ghost Ship, the American Star. I've never seen Taxi driver but maybe Today is a good moment to enjoy with Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro and the amazing Bernard Herrmann ;)
This was the most liked piece in our concert, and I kinda see why. Greetings from Poland, second french horn here!
In Poland? Wow! Congratulations!! :)
