This is so real! Years ago I played in a scramble with a guy who's nickname was "hurl 300" because he said he hit his drives 300 yards. I (at that time) hit my drive average 250. I out drove him all day. Recently I played with a senior golfer who said he hit it 265. We were riding in the same cart so I used my gps to track his distance; 220 was his best drive. He still to this day brags about hitting 265 and insists on playing from the back tees, hitting his 2nd shot with woods and long irons at greens and scores around 90. It must be an ego thing......
Exactly. Once in their life (downhill, with 20mph wind behind them) they hit a ball 300, and they have mentally categorized themselves as a 300 hitter. That's a nice way of me saying they're a lying A-hole.
Here's the thing, dude. I've carried my drive 320 over a par 4 once and just went with it. Filmed, I've never hit it more than 270 and I feel like I'm crushing it. I am, kind of. 250 or more is fine with me and I don't talk shit anymore. Too much tech and everyone has a fn camera
@@Lamster66 I don't think anyone in these vids is cracking 300 without very optimal conditions, but range balls probably lose about 3-5mph ball speed (and also add a lot of spin) which could be more than 20 yards all in
Most range balls are 80% carry balls... but swing analyzers don't always care about the ball type. It will still measure their swing speed correctly, depending on the type of analyzer and how it gathers the data. Not sure about this product. In a sim that is using cameras to pickup the ball, it absolutely would make a difference though.
With your woods, it could have to do with the lofts, the length of the shaft, and how the weight is distributed in the clubhead. A 5 wood is typically weighted to get the ball higher, and the shaft should be an inch or so shorter than your 3 wood. Regarding the driver, I assume you are hitting it lower and with more roll than your 3 wood? Check the loft and shaft length on your driver as well, and also how the head is setup. Newer drivers will have an adjustable hosel that will let you change the loft, lie and face angle of the driver. You might benefit from a driver with a little more loft and lower center of gravity to get it a little higher. Keep at it... and make sure to spend half your time working on shots from 100 yards and in. It is the fastest way to improve scoring. And enjoy! @@Lamster66
@@Lamster66 That's really good. Average total driving for a 10 handicap is about 230 yds I believe. If you take some lessons, hit the gym and do speed training, you could hit 250+. I think Pink and Arccos are giving out sensors for their app. App is not free but that's the easiest way to keep track of your distances on course. Welcome to the greatest game in the world.
I once hit a drive of 475 yards. Pulled it hard left, wind-aided, down the cart path, bouncing off rocks and walls, only to settle on the back of the green. Best worst-drive I've ever hit. Got out of there with a 3-putt par.

To be fair, the guy that said 250 probably gets really close / actually hits it with a non-range ball in good weather. I think a lot of people don't take the weather conditions into account when estimating their distance (i.e. temp, ball used, wind speed and direction, etc...). That includes not realizing they're getting wind help at times and then remembering those drives, thinking it's their 'standard' distance.
First guy: i had the same overseing problem. Club is flopping down over the left shoulder at the top (I bet you can see the clubhead out of your left eye), searching for power where there is none. Then you have to bench press the club off of you in the downswing. You and I are not John Daly lol Try feeling like youre stopping your back swing and starting your downswing with your arm at 90 degrees parallel to the ground (you wont actually, as your hands will naturally keep drifting back through the start of your down swing). Youll be mashing further and straighter.
MLM and our BLP give me a real understanding of my carry. While I drive 280-300 my carry is closer to 260. Without a launch monitor it is hard to see where a drive actually lands, you just know where it ends up when u walk to it
Did you get a chance to hit it with the same ball as on course? I havent been able to with mine yet, but my Arccos numbers match my Trackman numbers (both with my on course ball). But have much lower ballspeed on the range, smash factor down almost .05. Now that's not as much as you might think, and for a lower speed player its not as big of an effect. But if you're up in the high 110s approaching 120 on clubhead speed, I'd be interested to know what the ball configuration was to get 260 carry numbers for you. See if its consistent
I am a senior golfer and a single digit hcp. I use Golfshot, and have been tracking my shots for the past 12 years. I hit my driver total 199-225 yards. Sometimes I total the 225-245 range on a dry day. I am happy with that because my drives are extremely accurate. I know my game, and play within it. Most people would be shocked with their distances if they actually tracked them. And by tracked, I don't mean with launch monitors. I have some funny stories about listening to launch monitors at the range. One day I was hitting about 210 to an uphill flag. I knew because I lasered it with slope. A guy came up next to me and set up a talking launch monitor. He was hitting the exact same distance as me, but his launch monitor kept saying, 270 carry, 295 total distance.
Many golf ranges use 90% golf balls but they adjust the distance markers accordingly. So if you hit the 300 yard sign using 90% balls your ball has actually gone just over 270 but your ball WOULD go 300 with a regular ball. Many people are not aware. So that guy could be dropping them short of a 300 marker all day but as soon as you go to measure its 10% less. I know my local range does this and I am pretty sure I am about the only person who is aware. If you bring in you own prov1s you are all of a sudden pounding it 10% further than reality due to the signs.
Range balls goes 10% less on average. Even MORE so in November. Just worth keeping in mind. I can hit it 325-350 pretty consistently here in Arizona in summer (baked out fairways, higher elevation, HOT AS SHIT.) But used to hit drives around 265-275 back in Canada during the winter before I moved here (Balls plug = zero roll, sea level, COLD AS SHIT.) Point? Conditions make a HUGE difference.

Bahaha totally. Most golfers are. I was a custom fitter for years and 98 percent of golfers drive the ball 10 to 20 percent shorter than they think. Just a human pride thing I suppose
I am the opposite. I carry my 52° ~125-130 and my 8° driver avg is probably 235 carry I am steep and always slice my driver. I carry my 13.5° 3 wood about 265 though. Based on BLP: Swing speed for driver is 114, Ball speed is ~150 Swing speed with 3 wood is 112, Ball speed is ~165 That said, with range balls, under 50°F, this test is pretty unfair.
I don't think players understand carry.....if the said total distance 295 then they would be correct.....my carry is only like 220 but I get a lot of roll....works for me
It's not that, it's just that most armature golfers when asked how long they hit the ball will usually give their absolute max distance, not the distance they actually average or regularly hit. Take that second guy... I don't doubt that, on occasion, he can carry a ball 295. However, there is zero chance he averages anywhere near that with how inconsistent he was. And the thing is, it's not just people over inflating their numbers to look better, its literally how most golfers approach their distances at all times. I've played with enough mid to high handicap golfers to know that when they miss a green, they're probably going to miss short 90% of the time.
I think most people overestimate their carry distance. I drive like 240 yards, but my ball runs forever, so I feel like my carry is probably in the 200 range.
The MLM2pro adjusts for the quality of ball. In this test, we had the monitor in "range ball" mode so that it would still give accurate results. Thanks for your time.

Hahaaa I was wondering why that driving range looked familiar .. I made at Cole lol
Dont tell them you are guna film. Secret camera ask them casually then get all serious once they give you a number
My slice is so bad my tee shot almost goes backwards.
My carry distance: anywhere between -10 feet and 150 yards
Guy in the pink with a stiff driver shaft claiming 295 carry 😂. My swing speed is 111 with an xstiff and I carry 285 at very best
Oh wow. Hermitage golf course. Glad I wasn't out there to embarrass myself.
I would have low-balled it and given you 215 though.
Smart guy!
. . . consider that they are using range balls
The MLM2 pro adjusts for the ball quality 🫡.
@@divotdudesmanual setting?
those are freaking 1 piece range balls. those numbers mean nothing. honestly if youre out here in the cold carrying a range ball 270, I bet you carry a warm ProV1 290
Range balls don't go as far, they're built for durability.
295 guy is delusional lol
Bahaha totally. Most golfers are. I was a custom fitter for years and 98 percent of golfers drive the ball 10 to 20 percent shorter than they think. Just a human pride thing I suppose
His golf club is taller than him
Kyle Berkshire walks up to the range….
Everyone lies about their driver distance.
Strike is king
How does it feel when people tell you they see your TikTok videos?
Pretty sick dude
Legit question, do people actually know what 'carry' is?
Cause I believe the majority of golfers think 'total' yards
I have my rule of thumb. If I meet anyone who cant hit 48' pw 130 and claimed he can drive carry over 250. I just smile and let him brag. :)
I am the opposite. I carry my 52° ~125-130 and my 8° driver avg is probably 235 carry I am steep and always slice my driver. I carry my 13.5° 3 wood about 265 though.
Based on BLP:
Swing speed for driver is 114, Ball speed is ~150
Swing speed with 3 wood is 112, Ball speed is ~165
That said, with range balls, under 50°F, this test is pretty unfair.
@@thesetzers8952 = you have speed already. Just need to fix driver swing. Your SS can be optimized for even 300yd total distance.
@wesi782 Yea, I have tried it all. The problem is, it messes up my iron and wood consistency. I cannot disconnect my driver and non-driver swings.
Can’t use range balls for these tests
Tbh the 1st guy said 250 max meaning he probably only hit it 250 a few times
Get that kid some lessons. He's got the speed for 270 at least.
The second guy definitely did because it was clarified and he even says he has a golf channel so he 100% knew. The first guy maybe not lol
I think most people overestimate their carry distance. I drive like 240 yards, but my ball runs forever, so I feel like my carry is probably in the 200 range.
Do these guys even realize they are hitting flight restricted range balls?
Range balls don’t go as far
Fun stuff
Gotta hit a full distance golf ball. Duh
Range balls…
I would've told them i got 185 on a good day
295 carry, lol
How come these channels/ peeps never find me??!?!?! Im takin allllll th3 goodies.. fxkn dummies are always lyin in the wrong direction 😅
Bro 2 seems to know golf, but claims 295 carry and can't break 160 ball speed. lol
No it wasn't piped
Of course his name is Brad. #DooshCanoe
Second guy honestly doesn't have that great of swing for a +3 but ya never know
Rapsodos aren’t the most accurate
Why tf do you guys do this with range balls? They go like 70% as far as a regular ball.
The MLM2pro adjusts for the quality of the ball so you can get consistent numbers regardless. Thanks for the comment brotha!
Why do 76,000 people care about this?
Guy #2 had to flex 20k followers. Lord help ya dude
Range balls are 85% AT BEST. NOBODY hits range balls their normal distance. Bogus test.
The MLM2pro adjusts for the quality of ball. In this test, we had the monitor in "range ball" mode so that it would still give accurate results. Thanks for your time.
Why not use real golf ball
I can carry 350 easy
You're underestimating yourself 400 I'm sure
bahaha, omg how can you fail to drive the ball 250 yards in your mid 20's bahaha... jesus, like i could hit the ball 250 since i was 13 or 14 years old and approx 300 yrds since i was an adult.
