As a Montrealer who’s never experienced any of the Habs cup runs, it’s almost impossible to describe what that summer felt like, other than pure excitement. The whole city felt like it came alive, the atmosphere was electric. Even if they didn’t win, this run was the craziest thing I had ever experienced in my life. It made the 2021-2022 season worth it
I don't think I'd ever been so excited during a postseason. The OT winner against Vegas was something I'm always going to remember. Truly a St. Jean miracle.
I've said it before, I'll say it again; The 2021 playoff Habs played the greatest spoiler. Leafs, Jets, and Knights. All teams slated for greatness, falling to a team that just said "NO." There was much hype. This was a good time. So was this video!!
@@LordOfTheJizz ehh 10x is a stretch as they were barely better in the regular season. Habs were second in the division for half the season before COVID hit which is a point that a lot of people forget
As a Habs fan who never got to see that 1993 run this was the greatest moment in my life as a sports fan. The finals was heartbreaking yes, but I wouldn't trade that run and the memories it brought for anything short of a Cup. Hopefully this rebuild brings young talent that can bring a Cup back to the home of hockey.
As a Lightning fan I was really disappointed in seeing Montreal get to the final because I knew Tampa would destroy them, and that was peak Lightning, and I really wanted to see them beat a good team. For example, this year's Lightning team would have still easily mopped the floor with the Canadians, but last years Lightning team is taking out the Avs. I wish we could have flipped the years so that great Lightning team would have had a true challenge int he final. In any case the 2nd best team in 2021 was clearly the Islanders. I think Montreal would probably be down at like 4 or 5.
This run made me respect Weber and Price more than I had before. They gave literally everything they had and almost did the impossible and created memories for Habs fans for a lifetime.
I remember Game 1 vs VGK. I was listenning the local radio in MTL talking about the game. People were crying that the dream is dead. People who saw the 93' cup said we blew it and we should pack our thing and move on. I called the radio show. I say to 2 legends of MTL Hockey hosting the show: "Its game 1. Its Vegas. Its a wake up call to not sleep on the Jets sweep. Chill out guys, we gonna win this. Its only 1 game, there 6 remaining. We got this." They agree with me, but keep an understandable skeptism to my claim. During the St-Jean-Batiste, I'm at my mom's house, our patio is packed with the family. Mom, Step-dad, step-sis, her husband, their 3 kids, my sis, her boyfriend (who went from knowing nothing of hockey to become a die-hard Habs fan wearing a Subban jersey for the occasion. What a lad), and me. It felt like a dream. And that OT, we were so fucking happy. It felt like we won the goddamn cup. The eldest of my step-sis child didn't understood nothing of what was going on. She was 12 and wasn't a hockey fan, i told her she witness history. I'm sure she'll get it in a couple of years. When an American joke saying that we like hockey, their jokes is an understatement: Montreal (and the Province as a whole) fucking love hockey. The whole province celebrated their national day with a MTL win and becoming "The King of the North". Canada bowed down to the team who nobody believed in. People wore the habs jersey with pride. And we fucking deserved it. For me, it was the undeniable proof that Quebec City deserve its own Hockey team once more. We will love them like our child. Tattoed on all of our heart next to Celine Dion and the MTL logo. When we tanked for this season, my heart sanked. "What the fuck happen?" I said. We lost everything and everyone. All our playoff superstars were traded, injured or soon to retire. The dream was dead. It felt like a long loss memory. It doesn't even felt real anymore. Did Quebec collectively hallucinated the 2021 playoffs? It sure felt like it. But now we know it happen, this vid is proof of it. I'm 23, turning 24 in two weeks. I'll see the habs win the cup. They will lift the cup before i die. I'll see it. I will see it.
My favorite moment from the 2021 Habs was when they stormed back from a 3-1 series deficit to beat the Leafs. After that, the CN Tower in Toronto was lit up in Montreal's team colors. Glorious.
Literally a year and a few months after the city was no longer a sports embarrassment via NBA championship we were brought back to it via Leaf failure and the CN tower in habs colors.
@@French_Canadian_Pea_Soup Don't remind me. I was a senior in high school when Alex Kovalev pretended to be hurt only to crash into Souray leading to the Glen Murray game winner. I remember school the next day gladhanding all the kids I knew to be Bruins fans and saying "bring on the Flyers, Habs are just about done" with the Bruins up 3-1. Then Jose Theodore happened, he always rose to the occasion.
Lightning won back-to-back and went to 3 straight, set the record for shortest time between consecutive Cup wins, and only lost because NHL refs couldn't count to 6 in Game 4. As proof, the Avs lost to the goddamn Kraken in the First Round as the defending champs. They were frauds, and the Gods of the ice rink exposed them. 👍🏽
2021 was the first time in my life that I felt that we could earn a championship, that I'll see with my own eyes a Stanley Cup parade on Sainte-Catherine. Then... heartbreak. Hâte d'avoir cette 25e. Our future is bright. #GoHabsGo
As a Bruins fan living in this city, all my friends (naturally) pull for the habs and I must say that going bar hopping watching this run is some of the most fun I've ever had.
@@notachannel6097 even though it ended poorly I'll always remember this run. I never got to see the dominant habs teams. This was some of the most memorable hockey I'll ever see and I got to share every second of it with my dad.
Every round I was expecting us to lose but that doesn't mean I wasn't crushed when we actually did. Didn't feel real while it was happening to be honest
As a habs fan, this was a welcome surprise! You also hit the nail on the head about the team. That miracle run took everything out of the team and was revealed to be a fluke. I’m sad this season went as it did but I’m excited that Bergevin is finally gone and that the team is going in an exciting new direction. Gorton, Hughes, and St. Louis seem like the right men for the job and have done great so far in my opinion. Here’s to hoping the rebuild goes well and they make the correct choice at first overall!
to be honest having all their good players gone or not playing besides like caufield and suzuki, including the amazing price made it impossible to expect anything but failure for this season, so we can’t say that 21 was a fluke because of how bad they did this season
Honestly, the Habs should be proud. A fluke would mean they got extremely lucky. They had their lucky breaks, sure. But the Habs played their hearts out, and it showed. They should rest easy knowing that they also won an award rarer than the Stanley Cup: The _Western_ Conference's Clarence S. Campbell Bowl. Short of some other world-shattering event, no Eastern Conference team will ever win that award again.
Honestly, the Habs are in a pretty good spot, all things considered. They had a deep playoff run, which can help build experience, and a complete collapse that allows them to pick first overall. The change of head coach helped to give them some confidence to end the season. I feel pretty cautiously optimistic about the Canadiens. The only problem is that they play in a really tough Atlantic.
I'm not a Habs fan, not even close...but that is one of my favorite teams of all time. The way they one, to come together as a team like that. For one magical summer they were special. Truly awesome to watch.
Dang. I have to be honest this has to be one of my favorite Tree vids. The movie like impossible rise and tragic fall, the sense of happiness for being there yet regret for glories unachieved. Well done tree, well done
I never doubted the kid and It's the first time I'm believing. I'll never understand how we got that monster 15th he's a potential 60. He's going to send goalies straight to therapy. The only way for him is up and the team can only get better. I refuse to believe you can bust with a release like that. Half the season he scored at a 50 goal pace like i knew he could(his first season on the worst team in the NHL 😂). He's showing signs he's going to repeat what he has done in the minors and beat Ovechkin and Matthews at that game. Caufield is 🔥
No matter what. Watching the Leafs meltdown like normal was top tier. Also that draft pick and watching people cry as if it has any impact on their lives.
I remember well that run, the whole province was thrilled. Everybody was proud and talking about it. The day the team secured their place in the finals, on June 24th, was already the national holiday for the province which made the celebrations even more exhilarating.
I love the fact that Tree uses tons of videogame BGM for his videos, and many times, those are from Ocarina of Time, hence Goron City in this video's BG in the intro when talking about Hello Fresh. Not only is UTree a lovable Yinzer, he's a respectable videogame fan like many of us these days. Keep up the vids, Tree. You're killing it!
Excellent soundtrack. Rebirth will be wild. Montreal’s run was something else. They were super streaky all season, they started the season 8-3-1 and proved to be just consistent enough. Tampa was far and away the best team in those playoffs. We all know why that is, Vegas was proof that It is not something you want to try and replicate. Absolute heartbreak for Weber. He spent his prime in the shadow of Lidstrom and Chara. Nashville was on the cusp of greatness and needed one more piece. Their 2003 2nd Round 40th(42?) selection and current Captain was the price for that piece. The Preds move on to the Finals. Tree I’m sure you’re fond of that one. 5 years later Weber finally gets to go to his first Final. The team came up short, Weber gave it everything. Shea Weber is one of the best players to never win a major award. 7 times he played in All Star Game 4 Hardest Shot wins 2 Time First Team All Star 2 Time Second Team All Star 1 Time Messier Leadership award That’s it, for a guy who FOR YEARS was widely considered the 3rd best Defenceman in the league.
I'm an Australian, never much followed NHL, but while I was on uni holidays, the Stanley Cup finals were on. My friend goes for the Leafs, so I figured I'd do that to, and also go for Montreal against Tampa Bay (it's Australia, we have no idea about NHL rivalries). That game to take the series from 3-0 to 3-1, extending the finals to a game five, was the first full NHL game I've watched, and it's what made me back in the Canadiens, get involved in NHL, and start watching awesome channels like UT's. Go Habs!
Has a Tampa fan the Habs kinda became a second team for me after those finals. There is never a dull moment when it comes to Montreal, no matter what they do they will always find a way to do it in an interesting way.
Congratulations USFL!!! You successfully did what the AAF and XFL failed to do: make it through the inaugural season. Not only are you having your championship game on FOX Sunday between the Philadelphia Stars and the Birmingham Stallions, but you've been awarded a second season next year!
@@patrickdalton361 I firmly believe that too. I sure hope that their return next year will be more successful. At least we can safely say in the developmental football league world, third time definitely was the charm.
@@shawnbarrett4803 pending on the injury report, they have a decent shot at the championship. Theyre the best scoring offense. And despite the fact that they have the 2nd worst scoring defense, they've creating turnovers. In fact, the Stars have the best turnover margin at +7.
As a Latvian, who doesn't really watch or follow any particular team that run was special. After the Toronto series I decided to start to follow the Canadiens, It was the best decision of mine that summer. It was magical. Le But - Loco Locass was on repeat for me that summer, If Montreal would've won the cup that year, It would've felt like my Dinamo Riga/Latvian national team winning something. Hopefully I'll be able to experience something like this again.
As a teenager in Montreal, I had never gotten to see the greatness of this franchise like my parents did, but having gone to live watch parties for this cup run and to see the magic unfold in front of me has forged memories that I'm sure will last a life time. Hoping for the best in the upcoming years, Go Habs Go.
The main reasons I love UrinatingTree's videos are that they are factual, highly informative, funny and mostly just absolutely trolling with the sharpest precision. Just an absolute beauty of an hockey content creator. Best hockey content in YT among with The Hockey Guy. UrinatingTree also slaps with the NFL as well, so that's just a hefty bonus for me.
*Carey Price* played so well against Matthews & Marner that the media turned on them. They honestly generated so many shots & chances all series. Price just shut them down. *Respect to Price.*
This was such a strange stretch of hockey. I went from feeling frustration, to apathy, then dying from laughter, to having hope...and then feeling gutted once the final seconds drained away in Tampa. The final segment of the video was heartbreaking to watch, knowing what followed, but I think you couldn't have said it better. The 2021 Habs brought me a lot of great memories: I'll never forget watching Lehkonen's OT winner along with a close friend while a Price jersey which belonged to a mutual who we had lost to cancer hung in the window. I remember jumping for joy, completely wasted and shouting out to our late friend as we hugged. And even though we're staring down a rebuild, I'll always be thankful for the ride. The Canadiens will be back again before long, and hopefully this time the Cup can return with them. The Forum Ghosts are real...
"Nobody knew how but the Leafs were leafing again" ~ This video in a nutshell 😂 In all seriousness though, that 2021 team deserves to have its story told till the end of time. They may have been 'lightning in a bottle' and a blue moon team but they were an absolute joy to watch, a perfect underdog, and made this Avs fan feel a LOT better after they annihilated the Golden Knights.
Yes, the Canadiens did crater early on, but at least they gained some hope after hiring Martin St. Louis as their interim head coach. There was a stretch where they won 7 of 8 games (before they went to playing the NHL equivalent of Tank Bowl).
This video is enough to make a grown man cry. It's heartbreaking to see how the team imploded and how broken Weber, Price, and Gallagher were after coming up short at the end, but at the same time I will always be grateful for the run they gave us Habs fans.
TL/DR: I was on a trip with my fiance and her family during the Montreal/Vegas series, and it's pretty much why I say I'm a Canadiens fan now. I'm from Pennsylvania and never really experienced hockey outside of the Penguins' Cup runs in the last 15 years. I started paying more attention, and when the playoffs began, I started to see how special the Canadiens' season truly was. On a trip with my fiance and her family to the Outer Banks, the house we stayed in had TVs in the rooms; I got to see my first playoff hockey on that trip, off and on, usually later at night. The trip played out over the Montreal v. Vegas series. It was as if the universe set up the circumstances for multiple magical things to play out at exactly the same time. That trip, and the miracle run the Habs went on, are forever etched into me. I'm pretty sure it's why I call myself a Canadiens fan now, because every time I talk about them, I feel like I'm talking about my future wife.
This run as a habs fan was the greatest high of my life and the worst pain of my life. Losing to a team that had half of their top 4 drafted by us and were favorites by the fans hurt but the journey was the best stretch of sport enjoyment I've ever had. Thank you Price I'm sorry we couldn't get you a cup you deserve multiple and you are without doubt the greatest goalie of our generation.
Ducharme wasn't the AHL team coach, he was our assistant coach. But before that he was a QMJHL head coach and he evened coached the Canadian team for the world juniors and winning a gold medal.
As a habs fan: the future looks brighter than ever. The horrible season locked us a 1st overall round pick. I’m stocked for the future and in 5-6 years time we’ll be cup contenders. I am so grateful for that fluke run in 2021. That run brought my love of hockey back. I can’t describe what that summer was in Montreal and I’ll cherish the memories until my death.
Just look at the 2010 Flyers. Same scenario. Bottom 10 team, a coaching change and an electric shootout win to make the playoffs gave them all the momentum. Swept the devils, 3-0 comeback series win, stunning the habs in 5 games, only to fall flat in the finals thanks to Leightons 5 hole.
I’m not a Habs fan but I was crushed when they were defeated in the finals. I always loved Carey Price and Shea Weber but seeing them beaten was heartbreaking. Only for all the more heartbreak surrounding them afterword just made it all the more worse. It was a hell of a run seeing them being the underdogs the whole season. It made me want to cheer them on.
This video in a way was like a dagger in my heart. 🗡❤😭 I appreciate you not going full s***poster and actually giving the team credit to an extent though. Also, this draft combined with Price's career possibly coming to an end soon feels a lot like when the Rangers got to draft LaFreniere (regardless of how he's panning out) while Lundqvist's career was over. A soul for a soul...
it was also nice to see Lehkonen win a cup elsewhere AND score both the 3rd round and cup winning goals while doing so, It was like watching Devante Smith-Pelly and Lars Eller win a cup in Washington while also happening to be the ones to score both the tying and winning goal in the cup deciding game.
Also, I still haven't forgiven Kucherov for what he said about Habs fans. Lol Even if we're very entitled, he still had no right to talk s*** about us like that. We have a rich history plus hockey is one of Canada's biggest prides, so we had the right to celebrate the Game 4 win the way we did, as opposed to the Lightning who only won 8 times less the cups than we did and don't even have winters. To paraphraise Richard Sherman, "DON'T YOU EVER TALK ABOUT US LIKE THAT!!!" Lol
This was probably the most fun I had watching the Stanley Cup playoffs. Finally getting to see my team in the Stanley Cup final even if we lost was great.
As a young habs fan who never experienced the glories of old, I became convinced I would never see them in a Cup final ever. But 2021 gave me something I had only scarcely experienced: Hope. Thank you, 2021 Canadiens. For the unforgettable memories you gave to a whole new generation of Habs fans.
Really heartfelt video from Urinating tree. If the better team always won no one would watch sports, and the Habs were never the better team in any series in 2021. The video very good on of may favourites in a long time and yes I'm biased. It focused mostly on the strictly sport related elements of the playoff run but there were some other outside cultural influences that made the run feel if more significant and impactful to fans than the video suggest. Firstly, Carey Price is Aboriginal and the playoffs were happening simultaneously as when a series of unmarked graves of Aboriginal children were being discovered. These children were kidnapped by the Canadian Government and forced to attend Residential schools, whose purpose was to 'kill the Indian in the child', abuse was widespread and often the Indian child ended up killed. It felt as Price was channeling this historic pain and leading this playoff charge to honour these children who died too young because they were taken from their families by our Government. Secondly the win net of the Golden Knights Has series was awarded the Clarence Cambell Cup. For those who are unaware Clarence Cambell was the NHL Commissioner who suspended Maurice Richard and then by attending a Canadiens' game after the suspension was announced and inciting the Richard riots, and thus is a villainous figure in Montreal history. Many Habs fans thought the punishment was too harsh and was due to bias against French Canadians by NHL. Cambell and the Canadien's become stand-ins for English Canada and French Canada respectively. The Habs beat the Knights on June 24th 2021. June 24th is St. Jean Baptiste Day, the national holiday of the Quebecois people. Thus the Habs were able to enact revenge on Cambell by winning his cup on Quebec's National Holiday. Thanks for great content Tree, I definitely see why you would choose not to include this in your video based on how long my comment has become
As a 22 years-old montrealer that had never seen the habs in final, I will all my life cherish the memories of watching this incredible run with my family, the excitement, febrility and incredible feeling of joy to watch them get so far. Thank you habs and thank you UT!
This run gave me the best summer I think i could ever have. So many chills, watching hockey in July, despite covid still getting to watch it with people. I wish I could go back
This is the greatest video you’ve ever made. The story of the ‘21 Habs was truly a great one that should never be forgotten, and the way you conveyed elation and sorrow through your script and editing had me on the brink of tears.
If you want to continue a series like this I recommend the story of Leicester City’s first premier league title. From a team that barely escaped relegation to winning the premier league
That summer was pure insanity. It still gives me chills watching montages of the run. I travelled to Quebec a couple of times during the 21-22 season. Every game I watched was a blowout, but I’m looking forward to better days. A great rebuild is upon us, and I’m here for it. An elite duo with Caulfield and Suzuki. Hopefully Shane Wright in the draft. Sad to see Price go, but it’s about that time. Wow, I’m excited for the next 5 years.
My ridiculously calm, collected and stoic friend said to me he wanted so badly to joyously riot on Rue Ste-Catherine. Didn't happen but still, hell of a run. So many iconic moments, but that hit on Evans is still fresh. I remember how Weber looked like he was actually going to kill someone in the aftermath. The gamble ultimately failed but man, it was a fun ride.
I'm not much of a hockey fan, I admit, but stories like this make me desperately wish I was. The Canadiens might've had a heartbreaking ending to their season, but they'll live on in legend. May their story continue to inspire hockey fans for generations to come
I was born in 94. Everyone my age that lives in Quebec has parents that won’t shut up about the glory days if the canadiens. That’s all they’ve ever known. I really thought I was about to witness a miracle. It’s still the best moment I’ve lived as a Canadiens fan.
Watching this cup run with my dad (who was born and raised in Montreal) produced some of the greatest moments of my life with him. I’ll forever be able to look back at this with pride. Love you dad 💛
drove 500km to a part of the crowd outside the bell center in the cup finals. got lucky enough to get selected into a random draw to go inside. best summer of my life. never gonna forget this team. thanks for the video
As a Sharks fan, it was very exciting seeing an underdog like the Habs play spoiler to the Leafs, Jets, and Knights (the latter being especially sweet), but sadly all good things must come to an end. However, the future is bright. Many young players stepping up and the #1 overall pick to play with. Good luck with the rebuild Montreal
Great video of a great habs playoff run. Will not forget this. Took me back to 93 and 86 run. The right ppl are rebuilding the Ch we will be there again , and stronger than ever! Ghg!
Feels like you could say this about a lot of "flash-in-the-pan" teams 2012-13 Baltimore Ravens 2016-17 Ottawa Senators 2017-18 Jacksonville Jaguars 2017-18 Philadelphia Eagles 2019 Washington Nationals I wonder if the same will be said about the 2021-22 Cincinnati Bengals
The only I disagree with is the 2012 Ravens, because they lost the AFC Championship Game 3 of the previous 4 years. They were expected to make the Super Bowl in one of those years from 2008-12, its just that in 2012 they weren't as strong on paper as 2010, or 2011.
I haven’t had the opportunity to witness the greatest of the Habs before they won their 24th Stanley Cup, This run will hold a special place in my heart no matter how well they do in the future, from reverse sweeping the leafs, to the St Jean miracle, to this date that run was the most excited hockey I’ve ever witnessed from a team that I cheer for.
It was such a magical run and then the clock struck midnight I’m just glad the habs finally have new voices all around management because this team didn’t look like it was going anywhere for a while now and if not for the pandemic, Bergevin should have been fired after 2019-2020 Excited and hopeful for the future of this team
As a Sharks fan, I legit made a bet to a few friends that, if the Habs won against the Knights, I'd buy a jersey of the player who scored the series winning goal. I was absolutely sure that Vegas was winning that series. I now have a Habs Lehkonen jersey, and it felt all the better that he scored the winning goals for the WCF and the SCF. What a player.
Honestly. As a habs fan of 13 years, this is beyond the most excited I was watching hockey. It was truly a historic run for the habs and I wish I could see this again
i'm a habs fan and i agree that run was a fluke , but it was so fun to watch , the best moments i lived as a hockey fan. It saved Bergevin's job probably longer than it should have but man was it fun to have that hope. A rebuild is much needed and i trust Kent Hughes to do the right thing , can't wait to be back in the playoffs again.
Almost shed some tears at the end man I remember watching that whole playoffs and being such a proud Canadian to have the opportunity to watch this underdog team take it almost all the way ❤️💙❤️💙
People need to know flukes aren’t a bad thing. Sure it’s better to be competing for a long time, but flukes are a beautiful thing when entire nations unite to cheer for a Cinderella run. May the flukes live on with happiness.

this is when i renounced the leafs after 38 years and dozens of games gone to including almost all of the 93 run . Fuck the Leafs
that Corey Perry curse is wild, at least Lehkonen won with the Avalanche right?
Correct, a good deal of karma happened this year
Ehhh screw Corey Perry, played like a punk most of his career and he has his name on the Stanley Cup with the Ducks anyway
Lehky also scored the cup winning goal for us
Lightning won back-to-back and went to 3 straight, set the record for shortest time between consecutive Cup wins, and only lost because NHL refs couldn't count to 6 in Game 4. As proof, the Avs lost to the goddamn Kraken in the First Round as the defending champs. They were frauds, and the Gods of the ice rink exposed them. 👍🏽
@@ChrisG87 the anxiety I felt watching that Kraken/Avalanche Game 7 would’ve had to have been studied by NASA, it was incredible to see
2021 was the first time in my life that I felt that we could earn a championship, that I'll see with my own eyes a Stanley Cup parade on Sainte-Catherine. Then...
Shea Weber literally put his life on the line for that playoff run
"
I'll have another Pain Killer cocktail."
That's why we loved him for years here in Nashville. Shame the rest of the league didn't come to realize that and give him his due in Norris wins.
Probably secured a legacy as one of the best defensemen to never hoist it
@@brandonf24 now I feel bad for Suter too
8:09 Actually that was game 6 that was the first Canadian hockey game with fans since the pandemic. You can see the fans jump after Kotkeniemi’s goal
@@TheEDFLegacy for real hahaha that’s my favourite part
Honestly, the Habs are in a pretty good spot, all things considered. They had a deep playoff run, which can help build experience, and a complete collapse that allows them to pick first overall. The change of head coach helped to give them some confidence to end the season. I feel pretty cautiously optimistic about the Canadiens. The only problem is that they play in a really tough Atlantic.
It wasn't a fluke, the offseason was just a complete dumpster fire that there was no way we could be on the same level again
I'm not a Habs fan, not even close...but that is one of my favorite teams of all time. The way they one, to come together as a team like that. For one magical summer they were special. Truly awesome to watch.
Playing Aerith's theme during the death of the 2021 Canadiens team.
Magnifique.
The Canadiens are hosting the Draft this year and I can’t imagine what the crowd reaction will be the #1 Pick!
Dang. I have to be honest this has to be one of my favorite Tree vids. The movie like impossible rise and tragic fall, the sense of happiness for being there yet regret for glories unachieved.
Well done tree, well done
This is a certified Bergevin moment
It's good that Price got to play in a Stanley Cup final at least.
💯
Instead he got to feel what Henrik Lundqvist felt in 2014 🥺
And Rinne in 2017...

Nice use of Aerith's theme in the aftermath segment.
Hope to see more dive videos like this highlighting a flash in the pan team.
Came to note the music as well.
Even as a Knights fan, it was kinda sad to see that Habs team come apart.
The run being cut short... ah yeah. The theme fits and wouldn't mind more of these too.
caufield was truly amazing during this run i’m glad he played this good during the second half of this season so people realize it wasn’t a fluke
Caufield is 🔥
And now we've got Caufield and Suzuki playing together and showing us incredible things. Future is bright indeed. :)
No matter what. Watching the Leafs meltdown like normal was top tier.
Also that draft pick and watching people cry as if it has any impact on their lives.
“The best people to do something about choking but they couldn’t help with what was going on on the ice” COLD 🥶
that run will forever be one of my fovourte hockey memories, hopefully the fall with be worth the picks.
I remember well that run, the whole province was thrilled. Everybody was proud and talking about it. The day the team secured their place in the finals, on June 24th, was already the national holiday for the province which made the celebrations even more exhilarating.
In insight, yeah they lost the cup, but man what a ride it was!
Anyone who uses Total War soundtracks for their videos like UTree is worthy of admiration.
Final fantasy 7 Aerith's theme as well 👀
Habs fan here, ...dude, you gon' make me cry haha
It was a wonderful fluke, loved every moment of those Covid Cups.
7 times he played in All Star Game
4 Hardest Shot wins
2 Time First Team All Star
2 Time Second Team All Star
1 Time Messier Leadership award
That’s it, for a guy who FOR YEARS was widely considered the 3rd best Defenceman in the league.
As a lightning fan, what shea weber and carey price faced in regards to injury still makes me sad. Two careers ended too shortly.
Go Habs!
St. Louis have a Australian
Has a Tampa fan the Habs kinda became a second team for me after those finals. There is never a dull moment when it comes to Montreal, no matter what they do they will always find a way to do it in an interesting way.
I mean, they also stealing all our legends for jobs. Vinny as BreisBois old job, Marty as the Coach
Congratulations USFL!!!
You successfully did what the AAF and XFL failed to do: make it through the inaugural season. Not only are you having your championship game on FOX Sunday between the Philadelphia Stars and the Birmingham Stallions, but you've been awarded a second season next year!
WOOHOO!
Let's go stars!
I still think the XFL would have made it through the first season if COVID didn't cancel it.
8:06 actually the Habs did the same thing for game 6 so that was the first game in Canada with fans since the pandemic
Silly man, Quebec isn't in Canada... /s
The forum ghosts are real for sure !
The conclusion of this video brought me to tears. As a Montrealer, thank you Tree for honouring our team
"Nobody knew how but the Leafs were leafing again" ~ This video in a nutshell 😂
In all seriousness though, that 2021 team deserves to have its story told till the end of time. They may have been 'lightning in a bottle' and a blue moon team but they were an absolute joy to watch, a perfect underdog, and made this Avs fan feel a LOT better after they annihilated the Golden Knights.
Every single home OT goal of this playoff run gives me goosebumps.
It was a great run! Beating the Leafs was so satisfying.
As a bruins fan I’m looking forward to this
8:06 Game six in Montreal was the 1st game in Canada with spectators. Check it out, you can see spectators in the crowd in the highlights of game 6.
'3-1 comeback series win'
It was a 3-0 comeback series win.
@@justinnzamora5366 you are correct!
So many similarities....Gosh man, I wish we won the cup that year...
Tree is really good at these short documentaries like this.
This video in a way was like a dagger in my heart. 🗡❤😭
I appreciate you not going full s***poster and actually giving the team credit to an extent though.
Also, this draft combined with Price's career possibly coming to an end soon feels a lot like when the Rangers got to draft LaFreniere (regardless of how he's panning out) while Lundqvist's career was over. A soul for a soul...
Indeed, and I appreciate it too. It was a remarkable run.
it was also nice to see Lehkonen win a cup elsewhere AND score both the 3rd round and cup winning goals while doing so, It was like watching Devante Smith-Pelly and Lars Eller win a cup in Washington while also happening to be the ones to score both the tying and winning goal in the cup deciding game.
Also, I still haven't forgiven Kucherov for what he said about Habs fans. Lol
Even if we're very entitled, he still had no right to talk s*** about us like that.
I was in Montreal the night they beat Vegas. One of the craziest nights of my life.
Didn't they knock Vegas out on Canada Day as well?
@@Jfraire99 on St-jean which is like Canada day but for Québec

This was probably the most fun I had watching the Stanley Cup playoffs. Finally getting to see my team in the Stanley Cup final even if we lost was great.
@@GuyIncognito575 I was happy we continued their failure!
As a young habs fan who never experienced the glories of old, I became convinced I would never see them in a Cup final ever. But 2021 gave me something I had only scarcely experienced:
Hope. Thank you, 2021 Canadiens. For the unforgettable memories you gave to a whole new generation of Habs fans.
That Montréal playoff run in 2021 was very impressive.
Lehky avenged them too
Really heartfelt video from Urinating tree.
Tree, the Habs had 2500 in attendance from Game 6 vs Toronto onwards, the Habs had the first sporting event in Canada with fans in the Pandemic.
I thought it had started for game three against Winnipeg. My bad there.
@@UrinatingTree no problem dude, just thought I would let you know!

It's truly amazing! Thanks Tree. Salut from Montreal!
If you want to continue a series like this I recommend the story of Leicester City’s first premier league title. From a team that barely escaped relegation to winning the premier league
Not a real sport kid
Big video on the A's at the beginning of the year, and now a Habs one as well?! Thank you Mr. Tree. Your analysis is always appreciated.
The replays of all these highlights have been ingrained in my brain since last year. They couldnt quite get there, but goddamn that run was special
I'm not much of a hockey fan, I admit, but stories like this make me desperately wish I was. The Canadiens might've had a heartbreaking ending to their season, but they'll live on in legend. May their story continue to inspire hockey fans for generations to come

Feels like you could say this about a lot of "flash-in-the-pan" teams
2012-13 Baltimore Ravens
2016-17 Ottawa Senators
2017-18 Jacksonville Jaguars
2017-18 Philadelphia Eagles
2019 Washington Nationals
I wonder if the same will be said about the 2021-22 Cincinnati Bengals
The only I disagree with is the 2012 Ravens, because they lost the AFC Championship Game 3 of the previous 4 years. They were expected to make the Super Bowl in one of those years from 2008-12, its just that in 2012 they weren't as strong on paper as 2010, or 2011.
Speaking of "flash-in-the-pan" teams, how about the 1998 Atlanta Falcons?
The drastic slapback to reality after the majestic run was probably the best thing that could happen to the team.
They'll be back with a vengeance!
Even as a fan of the bruins, if I could have one wish it would be for Montreal to have won that cup. It was magical watching it unfold
Reliving these moments has brought me immeasurable joy.
What a ride. It helps take the edge off the brutal season we just finished
Of all the videos for me to get as soon as it comes out. It's for my Montreal Canadiens. Tabarnak
It was such a magical run and then the clock struck midnight
I’m just glad the habs finally have new voices all around management because this team didn’t look like it was going anywhere for a while now and if not for the pandemic, Bergevin should have been fired after 2019-2020
Excited and hopeful for the future of this team
Even the gentlest Habs fans I know will fire up at the mention of Bergevin. It can never be understated how relieved they are to see him gone.
Congratulations on the move Tree.
At least Arturri Lehkonen got to be a part of the Colorado Avalanche Cup Run. Scored 2 clutch goals along the way.
Honestly. As a habs fan of 13 years, this is beyond the most excited I was watching hockey. It was truly a historic run for the habs and I wish I could see this again
I cried like a fucking baby when we scored in OT against vegas, the best moment for me as a life long habs fan who wasn't around in 93.
i'm a habs fan and i agree that run was a fluke , but it was so fun to watch , the best moments i lived as a hockey fan. It saved Bergevin's job probably longer than it should have but man was it fun to have that hope. A rebuild is much needed and i trust Kent Hughes to do the right thing , can't wait to be back in the playoffs again.
Merci. Thank you .
I love your regular content but this has to be my favorite video of yours. As a habs fan, you captured all my feelings about the run. Great job!
Even though i don't think they should of been in there i still have to say for as low as they were to get into it they went on a hell of a run.
