He's abusive one way or another. If that is truly the way that he loves them than he needs help because he is unwilling to see that it hurts his wife and daughter.Just because he is laughing doesn't make the situation any better.

Eh idk this guy seems quite off. This type of behavior is abusive. He's cursing at his daughter and wife which is breaking down their confidence. He also giving them nose bleeds and cracking their ribs when he tackles them and yet he finds enjoyment out of this?! Something isn't right. This is one of the worst concerns I've seen cuz he thinks his agressive behavior is "affectionate" and "comical" and it's anything but. The panel and audience don't seem to think it's that huge of an issue but it really is because he's literally putting his loved ones health at risk.

To grow up in a strict family, i think he has this "when i have my own family, i don't want to treat them like my parents treat me" mindset. And about his wife and daughters being so busy kinda make him more lonely...

When father's rough house with his kids, it's when they are young. Once the kids reach a certain age, he stops because it's inappropriate. Plus, even rough housing is light compared to what he does. There's something wrong with him when doesn't stop once he injures his daughter.

This show always seems to end with an "I love you" when that's not even the problem. In the letter, she wrote that he loves her too much (at least that's what he calls it, so she just calls it that too), so obviously he says indirectly that he loves her. He probably tells her "I only hit you because I love you", but it sounds more like an "I only hit you because I love hitting you". He can't even tell her that he loves her without the implication of a slap without some major (!!!!!!) prompting! This is so messed up and everyone keeps laughing about it! Would say that he need to seek therapy ?! No, you wouldn't because its only normal for a kid not to know how to act, they are still learning and so are adults, he just didn't learn these "basic" things WE learned, he is still in the path of becoming better and I find this TV show magnificent because they truly care about their guests and are connected emotionally to them and they genuinely wanna help them, this is humanity as its finest, unlike you people who only see others as problems to solve, get a heart you dummies, these are people with feelings not dolls, stop acting as a psychologist when you're far from one, they are better than this and they don't treat patients as marionette's !

sakura heartfilia you seem to ignore obvious clues. He’s not a child. He’s a grandfather’s age. If someone broke your ribs and said “it’s because I love you.” Instead of being horrified they hurt you, would you be ok with them? His wife is NOT SPEAKING TO HIM, his daughter is NOT SPEAKING TO HIM. Instead of changing, he wants to run away, not fix the issue. He’s lonely? The simple answer is to stop abusing and bullying those around you. But he can’t. He does so many things because he “loves them”. Yet his 30 year old daughter has never even heard him say he loves her. He’s not an evil demon but there is obviously something psychologically off. We all have issues. A friend usually pinches or calls their friends name sometimes, but this dad goes too overboard with it and doesn't know when to draw a line and doesn't know what a boundary is. When I first saw him talk on the show, he seemed sad after listening to what the daughter said. I get that he's trying to love her but he's too aggressive with her. He has a black belt in hapkido as well - which I of course believe that it involves strong moves and rough housing etc. The dad tries too hard to be like a friend and he should really just stop the violent actions and profanity calling.

i don't get why he is getting so much hate. he just sees them as male friends and he has too much power. he is a nice, funny guy. i get how it can get annoying if the pranks hurt you. i'm sure he doesn't intend to hurt them. it's like i said he thinks he is not hurting them. he doesn't have his power under control. he would've been fine if he had added a son to the family. i see were she is coming from. however i do not get why everyone is calling him abusive. i feel like none of you have actually seen a real abusive person. being abusive is hurting someone on purpose. a lot of americans in the comment section i can see that based on the comments.

At first it didn't seem like a concern, but as he was showing what he did I started to get more and more worried. My brothers and I are very rough with each other and often break out in play 'fights' we usually get bruised and knocked up but it seems like he's actually sparring with her and using his full force... Ouch

Not justifying the father I just kind of related to him. When you grow up with little to no affection you don’t know truly kno how to love and express that feeling and being vulnerable is highly uncomfortable. Along the way he figure rough housing probably what he did with his friends was the closest thing to love he knew and truly FELT and so that became his ONLY way to truly feel like he’s expressing his love. He’s obviously not trying to be malicious just can’t determine where the line is and another way to express himself. I believe he needs an intervention where the whole family sets the boundary and he should talk to a therapist that will help him learn a new way to love and feel love.

...this is straight up physical abuse, i honestly hope people around him who see this start treating him like shit.
And honestly, I'm disappointed with how the regular hosts didn't seem to take this that seriously. When they found out she was an instructor, they turned on her but why the fuck would she defend herself against her father, she's already said she wouldn't hit him back because of who he is to her. The fact they made him DEMONSTRATE shows how little they take this seriously. Why would you encourage a parent hitting their kid when they obviously hate it and get nervous?
A parent should never be "teasing" their kid so much that they regularly get bruises or fucking NOSEBLEEDS.

Honestly, my dad pulls pranks but this man takes it too far. I don't think he's off or sick or anything like that. I think he sees his family as his friends and the way he treats them is probably the way he treats his friends as well. All his friends probably do hapkido and joke around excessively as well. But he needs to understand that he's surrounded by women who don't communicate in the same way he does. His oldest might be the closest thing to his friends (hapkido, makes jokes) but she's not his friend; she's his daughter. Make jokes, that's fine, but cussing at her and attacking with the full force of your power and strength is too much. She would be okay with occasional duels because she also does hapkido but not the constant annoyance and the childlike behavior is cute once in a while but again, don't be excessive. Overall, he's a cute dad with no boundaries. Now that she's seriously set them, he'll be okay.

The way he show his love is totally off but if we look at other side he is just too lonely and need love from his wife and daughter. His wife ignores him even on weekends , that must be disappointing for the him .if the whole family talked about his behaviour and loneliness he feels for once with each other that would be great. And i think the mother should have come to the show .
