- More work has been done on the southern extension.
I take a walk along the original formation interspersed with looks at the progress at the foot of the embankment.
I hope that these videos are helping you understand the work that we are doing, and that you enjoy keeping in touch with us in this way.

Hi Richard.
Fabulous to see where the extension will be going next 👍. I'm guessing that there will have to be some tree specialists in to lop down some of the rather unfortunately placed grown trees?
Stay safe, kind regards GWR
I hadn't realised what a mammoth project the extension actually is. It is about 18 months since I walked along where the work is now being carried out. Who is filling in the gabions? Volunteers should be named. How long does each gabion take to complete? Incidentally Richard Shipman's voice has a very similar timbre to Richard Greenhough's. Has any thought been given to the possibility of the military being able to help, using it as training exercise? Would the supply of infill material make this suggestion unworkable? Just a few thoughts 'Horace'
Hi H, thanks for the kind words, it is indeed a massive project, and most of the work is having to be done by paid contractors during lockdown. When and where we are legally allowed to use volunteers we will, and they will be recognized in the Corris-pondent. The gabions should be complete by the end of this coming week (today is 7th June), and then there's lots of machine work and moving and tipping of stone.
Thx for this. Really good
Glad you liked it!
Excellent as always Richard! Please could I ask if there is any proposed use for the remaining old formation from Maespoeth to where it runs out? Siding etc? And will the new alignment be roadside or the river side of the hedge that you walked along? Take care and thankyou for keeping us so well informed! Stay safe :-)
Hi Will, the existing formation has the asbestos water main under it, and we really don't want to be laying track on top of that. The new formation will be to the river side of the hedge, leaving the old formation as a gap between the road and railway.
@@RichardShipman Ah that makes sense, thankyou for the technical explanation! Keep up the good work :-)
