I went to Art College (CalArts) and learned to draw the human figure there. Once a week, we had a life drawing class that was 6 hours long (maybe twice a week?). I studied animation in school so we had to learn how to draw anatomy for all kinds of angles. Since college I've picked up a lot of books to study the skeletal structure and how the muscles work. At first it's difficult to understand but you learn things one step at a time and slowly but surely you gain more understanding.
If u learned all that.. Does it mean you can draw a DC or Marvel type comics but u choose manga instead...? Is drawing manga comics a choice for you or is it something you found out works for you...
@MushiXD I'm using a Uni X-gel mechanical pencil. It has a gel grip, very comfortable. There are ones with a bigger grip. I bought both and like the thinner gel grip. Lead I'm using is 0.5 "B" . Finding a good pencil can make drawing more enjoyable-- for me, comfort is key.
You blow my mind man.I've had people try to teach me before and I could never get what they were saying, but you changed all that in just a few minutes.I said it before on one of your other videos and I'll say it again.Your a great instructor. You made it so easy for me ,I think I love art all over again.Thank You...
my camera is a Sony Vixia HF10, fairly old camera but it shoots HD. I got it hmmm, maybe 4-5 years ago and it was about $200. I would get HD so you can get the best possible image of your drawings. My camera setup is a little difficult to describe. I attach my camera to a tripod but the legs are closed. I lay the tripod on a shelf that is on my desk and the camera points down at my paper. That's it :) If that is too confusing I'll make a video about it; been meaning to for a long time.
I'm so glad I found you. Your videos are great; relaxed, professional, and efficient. Your control over the pencil is basically impeccable. Very impressive demonstration of talent, practice, and knowledge. Add another subscriber! -Alex
Wow man thank you, what I like about your style is that you lay out geography and angles for body parts and positioning. Teaching the technique for mapping out the desired pose is far more useful than a line-by-line of one pose in one particular video. "Help a man learn something and he'll know one thing, Show a man how to learn and he'll know everything."
This was a great video man, I've just been drawing scenes from manga i'm interested in but your methods of line placement are really great, it's like adding math to it and everyone loves math ^_^
DUDE. U are SO good at drawing. I thought other people drew epicly and explained good but u can draw even BETTER and the way u explain is also SO MUCH BETTER!
You are an amazing teacher! I love how you just say "put a c there, then a bigger C" instead of this is the bisep, this is the (whatever other muscles there are). I'm terrible at anatomy. And the dot for the little hair swirls...I've never thought of that! It's really helping! Thanks so much!
Amazing work and i stayed up all night where i am to watch your videos because you inspire me to push myself to do more in when i draw and go that extra mile hopefully one day i am as good as you and just be successful to others. Keep up the outstanding work and cant wait for more.
vaya, tu forma de dibujar, o mejor dicho, de hacer las lineas base para tu dibujo es muy rara, pero al final te queda un dibujo súper padre....paya que me dejaste perpleja, me encanto.
thanks man, today's my mom's birthday. so because i don't have any money, i drew this for her. because i'm pretty good at drawing she liked her present, anyhow it meant a lot for her. thanks
Not to say Mark isn't an incredible artist, because he is, but I agree that Koizu's are more advanced. They're just different styles though. Mark can draw some insane realism.
such an awesome, informative video.i successfully drew my first action scene in different stances because of this. you have a natural talent to draw as well as teach
Man i love you'r videos . you'r the best drawing master everi have seen in youtube but please tell me wich pencil you use cuz my pencils are really bad so please tell me where i can buy it and what the details of the pencil and THANKS FOR THE TUTORIAL :D
I have been using your tutorials for a few days now and have produced better drawings and have a better understanding of anatomy. Thank you so much :) I also have an instagram page for my art and have mentioned your channel for reference.
I love your work so much! Im getting into game development and I need to get good at drawing in order to have drawing references for when I make a 3d model of a character ive drawn Could you share a few tips like what pencils or other supplies I should use for certain things, maybe some books you would recommend or videos to help me get better at drawing? Also how do you come up with these characters, I always have a hard time drawing from my imagination? Thank you srry for all the questions =)
The other artists also teach how to draw such kind of position.... But it seems that they are just trying to finish their videos. They Don't show us the easiest way. No matter if we are learning from their videos or not, they just wanna make a video for views... But you showed the easiest way... Many many thanks...
What pencil do you use and do you ever use references what paper/sketchbooks do you use I only want to know this is because I watch all of your videos and you are so helpful and I am consider myself kind of and artist
mike? do you think you can make a video on how to draw different versions of guys or girls hair? because im having trouble on coming up with different kinds of hair to draw for them?
thanks for this video. i am planning ...i mean i will become a manga artist in the future and right now i am just having problems with perspective and background. this helped alot. i realized that i am just not making things as big as they should be.thanks
This is amazing video! i'm a good drawler to what people say at school, i realy love your work its just i don't what i'm going to do what my career is in college should i stick with drawing or do something else that i'm good at.
Mike, your technique, using the simple shapes, helped me a lot! (but I need some work on the details of clothing.) :/ Any tutorials for easy-to-remember armor techniques, or the clothing folds? Anyways thank you very much, anyways, you're my favorite! (Excuse my bad English!)
hey Koizu i love your videos and have been watching for some time!. how do you publish a manga? ive been drawing alot of scenes of a story in my head and i think im ready for a manga if you can help i would really appreciate it!

U wonder if I can go study there 🤔
You fairly familiarity anatomy no sir you are an expert in your anatomy to illustration lol
Oh so that’s why you can draw so good

U still alive
You explain this way better than my Windows Art Teacher...
Am I strange to get the fist that's closer more easy than the one that's further away? I can't get that one so I made it droop to his side cuz I suck
You blow my mind man.I've had people try to teach me before and I could never get what they were saying, but you changed all that in just a few minutes.I said it before on one of your other videos and I'll say it again.Your a great instructor. You made it so easy for me ,I think I love art all over again.Thank You...
any specific things that you are having trouble with, regarding the eyes? I draw my eyes very basic :P
I can't draw the second eye
Same
Nose
The first fist
no problem :) If you like, you could draw the hand smaller and it would feel like it was far back and would add a lot more depth too.

"Uni a-gel" (but might be interpreted as "ax-gel") HD, 0.5 lead. I use "B" lead.
Wow man thank you, what I like about your style is that you lay out geography and angles for body parts and positioning. Teaching the technique for mapping out the desired pose is far more useful than a line-by-line of one pose in one particular video.

Dude...you don't realize how much I love you right now.
You are an amazing teacher! I love how you just say "put a c there, then a bigger C" instead of this is the bisep, this is the (whatever other muscles there are). I'm terrible at anatomy. And the dot for the little hair swirls...I've never thought of that! It's really helping! Thanks so much!
Just take off the hair and he could be One Punch Man.
You mean Saitama? But tbh he seems more like Genos rather than "One Punch Man"
+Doot doot yeah he has the eyes of genos

thanx mike.. u helped me a lot in improving my anime manga sketches...
such an awesome, informative video.i successfully drew my first action scene in different stances because of this. you have a natural talent to draw as well as teach
I can only draw heads when they're facing straight....u should do a video on how to do different angles of the head ^^
+Breanna Augustine It's easy. Just imagine the shapes in 3d. Then imagine drawing an outline of the 3d shape. Probably doesn't help though.
hands are my WORST subject when drawing. i respect you to a very high level!
can u make a tutorial on drawing the eyes? i know they aren't a big deal but i always mess up the eyes, however i can draw separate eyes. weird
Man i love you'r videos . you'r the best drawing master everi have seen in youtube but please tell me wich pencil you use cuz my pencils are really bad so please tell me where i can buy it and what the details of the pencil and THANKS FOR THE TUTORIAL :D
