    This talk is what I love about Dan John. It's why he is my strength and culture hero. Explaining minimalism in lifting heavy then to morph into minimalism in the art world is a perfect analogy. Well done, Maestro!

    Nice thoughts. We say something similar in music....less is more, but less is more only, when you know what more is and you decide to do less.

    Dan, I really appreciate what you say and I have read almost all of your articles that you have written in T-nation... learned a lot from these, great insightful stuff, I have long been in love with minimalist programs, two per week all out workouts with two major and one minor lift in each. Really enjoy it

    I found the example of your backing off in 91' and swelling very relevant. Prior to our current situation I had been doing an Olympic lifting program pretty much in line with what you described at the beginning of the video. Then, at age 53 with 35 years in the weight room, the pandemic forced me home with a single KB, a couple of bands, a PVC pipe, medicine ball, sprints and a lot of long walks with the dog. During this time most workouts dropped to about 15 minutes per session. While we don't have a set of scales at the house, we do have mirrors and I swear I have grown. I am curious to see what happens upon the return to the Oly program. Thanks for the putting out quality info Coach!

      Will do. I ordered an Oly bar and bumpers for the garage. I won't be caught out like this again! The backlog on these items right now is equal to the delivery time on ordering a new car but hopefully I am only a few weeks away from getting under a loaded bar again.

    I always enjoyed your content. Really good to here you address this as the idea that 2 exercises are all you need for ever seems too prevalent in the kb community.
    Please could you point me in the direction of a more comprehensive kettlebell workout/philosophy/structure?

  • @LARPANET_3087
    @LARPANET_3087 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey love your commentary on this one! Good food for thought. I'm trying to self-train a bit, can you recommend any books on basic concepts in weightlifting / strength training? I've just seen so many different programs and ideas people have, many of which appear contradictory (high volume, low volume, minimalist, complex, etc) I was just keen on learning some of the basic building blocks behind all those programs so I could put something together myself, if that makes sense.

    wouldnt you consider stronglifts 5x5 as minimalist?

    • @DanJohnStrengthCoach

      It would depend how you do them.

    • @delpierro213

      I think classic 5x5 not minimalist at all… At least for time issue… god damn lasts 1,30 hour.…less exercise but more time…
