thanks for the idea, i did this without the fiber optic and the switch! i would like to note that its very important for the 9V battery to have a plastic casing. mine had an aluminium casing and it was very difficult to work with.
so yea for the people who are looking to do the same mod just get a battery with plastic casing..

be careful the circuit used has the defect that I described in my answer: it has no protection against over discharge. So the battery will be damaged quickly also thanks to the step-up circuit that will not show the battery drop outside.

Using a step-up converter has some disadvantages (with low currents, self discharging, capacity at all). Most of the 9V Li-Ion blocks, which you can buy, are using 2s, also not ideal (voltage was to low), but slightly better for low current and log term usage (which is the typical usage for remote control or measurement equipment).

    929/5000
the video is very well-made and clear.
But may be serious problem with this project.
In practice inside the battery there is a step-up and this is what allowing to have 9 real volts, while the batteries with two li-ion elements have only 7.2V. These i great but it should have 3 defects and the third is dangerous:
1- the space dedicated to the battery is greatly reduced and therefore also the capacity. If the 102535 battery is 800mAh, the 9 volt virtual battery will have this value divided by 2.5 (which is the ratio between 3.7v and 9v) and decreased by the efficiency of the step-up converter: let's say about 350mAh. However 1, 5 times the best Ni-Mh batteries which however are 8.4 v and not 9. This is not the major problem
2 - if I have not misunderstood the switch is used to turn on/off the connection of battery and so the converter. So if we don't use our equipment it will be better to open it and turn off the converter which even if it consumes little but in a month would drain the battery without having used the tool at all. This for instruments where the battery is housed with a screw lock can be very inconvenient
3 - Do you know that there is "No over-discharge protection " in the circuit that you have used? do tou have an idea of what can happen?? I do not think so.
The user of your project has no way of understanding when the lithium battery is running out also because the step-up continues to maintain the external voltage at 9 volts by completely discharging the lithium battery.
Do you know what happens by discharging the lithium battery completely? in the best case you destroy the battery, in the worst case it can also catch fire.

Excellent!! I'm doing a little project about it, i think it is very important to automatic switch on and off, i used to just connect battery to MT3608 boost converter, but is only can last about one week then just run out of battery, it suck. In my design, it will automatic switch on and off by pull MT3608's enable pin high or low depend on if it connect to load or not, but it don't work and make me so confused... I'm not a English speaker, i have no idea about what is the name of this " automatic switch " is correct or it had other name and the circuit diagram, if you can help me about it then I will so thankful, i hope my poor English can make you know what i talking about, and have a nice day!!

I have been making similar battery recently with protection board and voltage meter with 3d printed case. And I know that battery won't last long since step up consumes energy even without load. That's probably why he installed switch to it. But for most 9v battery applications it's pretty useless since it drains itself empty in few months.

A better way will be using the good old Ni-MH rechargeable batteries.

Good job. It's hard/difficult to do so. Buying one from the store near my home may be justified.

abdul bari They’re not custom made, they’re standard size batteries and you can buy them. However, they are not AAAA batteries, but a slightly smaller size, LR61.This is much more clear in the IEC name: 6LR61, which is 6 LR61 batteries.

If you actually checked the module specs, you would know that it states _Quiescent current: about 0.5 mA_ .
      With a 500mA battery, that's 1000 hours or about 40 days.
