This is the version I saw when I was a very young child. I just loved this and I'm so glad to experience this nostalgia! I wish they had kept this last scene and then created another whole new stage to continue each new future.
WoW! WoW! WoW!, This is too cool!, This is the ending I saw at Disneyland in 1967 when I was a boy. It brings back great memories!, Thanks so much for your hard work for making this video!, David
Yes..it's Rex Allen! What's surprising is 1) Rhoda Williama, a/k/a one of the original evil stepsisters in CINDERELLA,as the wife/mother! and 2)Mel Blanc in a DISNEY appearance! :D
I keep seeing these comments on how Walt would be upset with the fact that the current Carousel of Progress has a different scene and it wasn't kept to the original... Do... do you guys not understand the entire point of this attraction? Walt was always about CHANGE and PROGRESS. He wouldn't have wanted things to always stay the same, it certainly wouldn't be progressive if the land of "today" was still set in the 60's...
Still amazing to see. I only got to see this one time, as a five year old boy, two years before they removed it. The model of Progress City had a great impact on me and I remember it to this very day. Wish they hadn't swiped it for WDW.
4:30 I still remember when I was a kid and saw this clip with the Progress City video without knowing that it was an animated model and that's why it looked so alive. Seriously, the model looks so real that it would have been interesting to see Epcot City of Progress as a real city.
It's crazy how much more inspiring the ambient music, even the voices are. 1993 is 2nd best with GBBT returned, but every second of this oozes Disney magic. The dialogue is snappy as ever in WDW, but man could they have kept a little of this cheery orchestra music? Seriously Disney, just remaster the 1967 audio and stick it back it. People watch CoP and ETR for the 1960s optimism anyways, not for their face value. They're vintage and this recording is the best put together.
This is so cool. I can not remember the original 4th part right now in Disneyworld as I was a child back in 72-73. But I will look these up and see if something sparks my memory
couldn't agree more. That was TRUE Disney... the crap they have today is not Disney and Walt would strangle a lot of necks if he saw what has become of his name and his parks.
wow I haven't seen that since I was probably 10 when I was a kid tomorrow land was full of promise now it categorically sucks most depressing place it's awesome to see this the way I remember it ...
I'm sorry, but you can't preface the statement that Grandma and Grandpa have their own house with the phrase "They're no longer with us"... XD these sick sadistic writers are trying to make us think they're about to tell us Grandma and Grandpa are dead, lol
This has the wrong audio for the first "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow". It should have been the 1940s version leading into the last scene, and then the version used here at the end instead. Randy Thornton of Walt Disney Records got them all in the wrong order!
I've always been envious that WDW still has it, even though it's a new version. I wish Disneyland would bring it back. Probably my favorite Disney ride.
I recall the future/christmas scene having a metal christmas tree. I think it was in a spiral. There was some comment about the tree, the dog barks, and then dad says there will still be trees for you, sport (or something similar). I thought it was funny because it was a pee joke at Disneyland. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find any evidence of this metal christmas tree or related audio. Anyone know where there might be video, photo, or audio of that version? Or what years it was there?
This ending could work today, but with newer appliances. The mood lighting is still prevalent as well, and so is senior living. Plus mother's involvement in the community makes more sense and is still very much a thing. They are not talking about a burned meal or zoning out to virtual reality that could fry your eyeballs. It could still work, plus I think it would age well with it's contemporary look.
Looks like some of this footage was from a special of some sort on the Disney Channel. Do you know what the name of that show was and if I could find that anywhere? Thanks!
Yeah, it's unfortunate that they didn't do it. In a Disney special I watched a few people who worked on the EPCOT project stated that they'd (not them, the company) decided they'd rather be in the business to "making money" than constructing/maintaining a city. I just wish they they followed through to Disney's dream as a tribute to him since he died. He didn't even get to see Magic Kingdom finished!
Too bad Randy Thornton put this soundtrack together wrong in the box set. Most of the "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" versions ended up in the wrong place, including the first one on this video. That *should* have been the '40s version in that spot!
It's the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, aka EPCOT. The family's living in one of Monsanto's wonderful plastic homes of tomorrow, and the big skyscraper you can see over the climate-controlled indoor shopping district is the transportation hub of EPCOT, with monorail lines to the industrial park further south and PeopleMover lines through the recreational greenbelt out to the residential districts where the family is living. All electric, of course, with all the cars and trucks coming in through underground tunnel systems so there's never any traffic or air pollution in the Community of Tomorrow. Mother talks about the new jet terminal, which is just a short monorail ride away down south at the Airport of Tomorrow, where you can fly to just about anywhere in the whole wide world in just hours. Yes, life here in Tomorrow is just fabulous, and best of all, the entire community is sponsored by the Walt Disney corporation and some of the finest leaders in industry in America, including General Electric. Buy General Electric appliances today!
There's a sound recording of the original 1975 "Best Time of Your Life" version of the Carousel of Progress after it moved to Disney World in Florida with the 1975 Act 4 at omniluxe.net . Daveland has the photos of the 1975 family from the last act (gotta love the son's plaid pants and jacket). You could do a video of the 1975 act 4 by splicing togeter the sound recording and the still photos of the family.
@TheDreamerandDoers Hi, from a 7 yerar old boy during the year this was done, 1967! (Now, THIS is how I enjoyed it, since as PROGRESS happens, I doubt later music scenes would work, as they';d kick poor Rex Allen and successors out and have foul, ill-tempered MTV RAP language takes..and can I HARDLY wait for.."YO THee's a great big bleeping bueaitufl tomnorrowm forgot all those stylized, cars, Yeah, there's a great big beutiful tommoror, we;'ve set progress's rosy glow way ajar,/with our LUMPy cars, that set autos back, and you'll wish you went back/.To nineteen sixty seven, when progRESS wasa happy dream away/There's a Great big Slamming Yo Tomomorrow/We've make you wish for the good olfd days!" LOL sorry, could NOT reist..)
Its Interesting How over the Past Decades Displayed in Carousel of Progress how People Thought of the Future Concept of Life Would be, just how many People Thought for the Longest Time 2015 would be the Back to the Future Part 2 Concept of would the Future with Flying Cars Powered Micro Fusion Reactors, & with Japanese Based Clothing, Art, & Future Technology, That is if Japan Never had the Great Recession of the 1990's since most 1980's Scifi Movies like Robocop 3, & Blade Runner are Based on the Idea of the Japanese Boom, & Everything Bought out by Japanese Corporations ! I wish they had keep this one an added on. Now it's just uneven as it jumps from the 40s to the 2000s
It's more like an 80s vision of what the 00s would be like lol.
I went on it yesterday and I was like WTF?!?! Why would you jump from the 40's straight into the late 90's!
Imagine if this ride still exists like 20 years from now XD. We'd just be time travelers
They need to re-do the entire ride
@@richardterroni9433again. They’ve done that 4 times already but the current version is 30 years old.
This is the version I saw when I was a very young child. I just loved this and I'm so glad to experience this nostalgia! I wish they had kept this last scene and then created another whole new stage to continue each new future.
Unfortunately that would cost loads! But it’s a better idea
I enjoy the Carousel of Progress in every trip we take to Walt Disney World, very happy to have caught a glimpse of what was.
It's sad that actual carousel of progress is always empty
Not the last time I went there. Had to wait an entire cycle. The Disney fanboys kept it busy.
WoW! WoW! WoW!, This is too cool!, This is the ending I saw at Disneyland in
1967 when I was a boy. It brings back great memories!, Thanks so much for your hard

I ws a boym,too
good reconstruction.
I wonder if disney has film footage somewhere of the final act--- love to see it. bet its in storage somewhere.
Yes, I think they have footage of all their attractions somewhere....
I sure remember this man's voice narrating all those Disney movies back in the day :)
Well I went on Carousel Of Progress at Magic Kingdom
@@beautifulbat7200 Ok?
Yes..it's Rex Allen! What's surprising is 1) Rhoda Williama, a/k/a one of the original evil stepsisters in CINDERELLA,as the wife/mother! and 2)Mel Blanc in a DISNEY appearance! :D
that is so cool i ve wondered what it was the vision of the future in the 60s, and boom here is the video. the magic of youtube. thanks

Its not that the new ending is different, its that that the new ending is stupid.
no i find it better you probably skipped around and not actually see the whole thing or listened to the whole ride
The new ending is better than this version!
To be honest, it's been so long... it actually needs an act inbetween the 40s and modern day. A 60s/70s scene would fit in again just perfectly.
He'd probably be more upset that the current ending has gone mostly unchanged for 25 years.
WHAT WE NEED IS FOOTAGE!
I grew up during this time, and we visited Disneyland annually. Thanks for posting.
Still amazing to see. I only got to see this one time, as a five year old boy, two years before they removed it. The model of Progress City had a great impact on me and I remember it to this very day. Wish they hadn't swiped it for WDW.

Why does the original mom look like Mrs. Kennedy

I like this ending much better - it's a nastalgic look at what they thought the future would be - MUCH more enjoyable.
couldn't agree more. That was TRUE Disney... the crap they have today is not Disney and Walt would strangle a lot of necks if he saw what has become of his name and his parks.

That line really stuck out for me when I was a kid. I think it's clever.

@TheDreamersAndDoers Yes! I knew that was the original epcot concept in the background!
Wow the TV has a built-in VCR!
Woo
This is the late great Rex Allen Sr. as the Farther

I love the Jackie Kennedy look on the mom!

The BEST version of the song...
When they said that Grandma and Grandpa are not with us I thought they were dead. My bad.🤣
Yup, that was the joke
Awesome!!!

yes tomorrowland 67 was a wonderful fast pace movement of the future. now they might as well call it movieland instead of tomorrowland.
I remember this in the 60s.

3:29 Is that the original EPCOT in the background?
looks like it to me...
Grandparents live in the Villages. saw Grandfather in an upside down pineapple shirt.
@TheDreamersAndDoers And today, the spirit of EPCOT is preserved in EPCOT Center.
Even the 2000s version of Act IV is a bit dated now! It would have been awesome to just leave the original Act IV as is through the years.
no not really. Walt wanted EPCOT to be an actual city... not just a theme park.
I like this version better
