I have a set of the EU version of these plates. They are a game changer in the cable and tentacle department. These look great but, and the tapered end for rolling on an angle is a great idea. Question.... Have you ever tried running the top plate 90 degrees to the bottom plate...?? The result for me was fantastic...!!! Even try a saw50 base with the Vex plate as the top plate for example... Varies the texture and appearance to a tee. Great vid, thanks for sharing. 🤘
@@monsterofvalhalla3397 Woah! Great! I really wanted to make sure I had a new one up for whoever managed to come across from Eric's video to give an idea of my sculpting tutorials. I really need to do some project videos documenting my conversions, though. I've been lacking there...
Im glad you pointed me in the direction of the “Green Stuff Industries” I watched a video on the European one and well lets just say i wont give my hard earned coin to a dishonest scumbag!!
Sweet! I"m glad it was helpful! And, yeah, getting your tentacle tool from Greenstuff Industries is really a no-brainer. That other EU retailer just has too many reports of dubious business practices and exploiting the community >:(
I think Im going to make an attempt to make a pair of plates using oven clay and some existing texture I can find (for consistant). Im sure it will have initial mixed results, but I see can see the benifit of figuring it out for sure. Thanks for the inspiration! You got a sub for it, haha.
Thank you so much, and glad to have you on board! People have definitely successfully made their own tools out of all kinds of things like combs. But I was first introduced to these tools by the original german ones, and I haven't looked back!
@@ModernSynthesist it worked! I just ran a small fine pitch screw/bolt as even as possible across 2 pieces of oven clay. The randomness is nice for organic things, like our bugs, for sure. That said, for $12 or whatever, Ill probably be picking up the real tool as well. I also made a cable/cording (semantics) to a loincloth on an old school pewter wraithlord. Love the channel, very inspirational!
Awesome stuff!! Ill definitely need to get me some of these.I think the Soulgrinder / Defiler kits really need some mad tentacles. The current flail on the Defiler is looking particularly badly aged!

@@ModernSynthesist I've already have similar stuff , leave it for other guy /// I'm a chinese guy and GSW doesn't sell it's roller stuff to china, for fear of replica (but itself is a replica😠, damn), so i made it by myself years ago😇
@@d_dog9939 HA! It's actually the case that people have found GSW resells A LOT of its stuff direct from Ali Express, so it's a bit ridiculous for them to not sell to China!
@@ModernSynthesist Emmm, the thing is a bit complicated, miniature hobby market develop rapidly recent years (and GW keep increase in price). @@ModernSynthesist Although i think GSW is a typical evil company, earn profits generally by taking advantage of information gaps (like "GSW Spider Serum", airbrushing with undiluted paint can get that effect easily, with no necessary to buy their expensive stuff). That's what I'm referring to in the video. But I do not recommend GSW, and a lot of the reason why is because they stole the design for their tool. Green Stuff Industries is far more reputable.
One of the most anticipated Modern Synthesist videos and its finally happening!!!
HA! Everybody wants tentacles! And a giveaway to boot!

Woah. I have never tried turning one plate 90 degrees! Now I need to check that out!
@@ModernSynthesist Looking forward to seeing what you think of the result.. Only subbed yesterday but must have watched 15 of your vids already now.

The wire armature is inspired, thank you for the tip.
Happy to pass it on, though I can take no credit for coming up with it. I never thought it wood work, but it works SURPRISINGLY well!

Yes! Glad it's useful! How bad was shipping to Sweden from Green Stuff Industries?
Great video, nice to see an alternative to the eu supplier. Given me something's to think about with my next hive tyrants.

I think I mention in the video that you can buy the tools from Greenstuff Industries.
Thnx for this!
You're welcome! Hopefully you find it helpful!
OR you could use a comb instead of that tool... if you dont have it.
Yes, certainly, a great suggestion! But I'd say nowhere near as easy to use or effective.
