So glad you reacted to this one, but oh man you've only scratched the surface of Swedish soul. Titiyo being the queen and Eric Gadd the king (you should see him live, funking away on the bass), both pioneering the genre in Sweden, there is still so much more to explore. Here are a few that have reached the level of classic - most of them should be right up your alley: Daniel Lemma: If I Used to Love You Seinabo Sey: Younger Sabina Ddumba: Did it for the Fame Eric Gadd: Why Don't You, Why Don't I (smooth as hell) Eric Gadd: Do You Believe In Me Titiyo: Flowers Titiyo: Come Along Peter Lemarc: Vänta dig mirakel Jennifer Brown: Tuesday Afternoon If you could only pick one for a reaction, let it be Daniel Lemma.

Titiyos "Talking to the man in the moon" är mer soul och mer klassisk än de två du nämner. Lägg till Stephen Simmonds och Blacknuss också. Seinabo och Sabina är bra men lite för ny musik för den här serien skulle jag säga. Men ja till Lemma först!
Love ur ”show” Jonathan. Wud love having John Holm om it. Maria fantastic but sure there are other even better ”bangers”. Tho he is more on the softer side.
Another great song that I had almost forgotten about! 😊 I hope to hear "Sista morgonen" by Niklas Strömstedt soon, it's a classic and it would go well with this season.
YES! 😄 Haha! Jag rekommenderar hitsinglarna "Do you believe in me", "Excuse me halleluja", "Power of music", "Wish I", "Heaven is asleep", "Why don't you why don't I", "There's no one like you", "My personality", "The right way", "Summer is here", "Someone who cares", "Riding high", "Eye of the spirit".
This is one of my absolute top Swedish artists, I LOVE Erik Gadd, and it’s right, you wouldn’t know it when you look at him ☺️! Love your reactions, spot on!
You should listen to some of the great songs Eric Gadd has done in English. Some recomendations are. 1. Do you beleive in me? 2. Why dont you, why dont i? 3. My personality 4. The right way 5. Ridning high 6. Eye of the spirit 7. Meet me here 8. There's no one like you
Eric Gadd! One of the swedish artist that really paved the way for us artists who are into and making New Jack/R'n'B. Made me travel back in time to 1989!
Hurra du lever… is actually my favourite Gadd album. Later he switched to singing only in falsetto and only in English. I think his lyrics are better in Swedish, and I like the vocal variety better. He was heavily influenced by Prince, but that's nothing negative. And he never really got back to that cocky attitude in his later work. Btw, he once said that the moans are sampled from a movie…
ah so happy you got to hear this one. Loved this reaction. and yes the high notes gives Prince it's not as moany as Prince's 'Do me, Baby' (7+min version) though ;)
Good morning! I ageee! This is a really great song of it's genre, although not a huge commercial hit, (compared to the next song on your list'(ABC with Anna Book) that has been a karaoke favourite , or plåga, for swedes ever since that came out). Since you liked this song with Eric Gadd my reccomendation is to listen to his 1st single in English from 1991: Do you belive in me?. That made it to the Swedish charts in a big time. 😎
True. This song isn’t a Swedish classic. Sure it’s a good song but not a banger in Sweden - and most importantly totally unknown to most Swedes. Therefore very much not a Swedish classic. Strange suggestion. Should be in another reaction playlist: “Interesting Swedish songs I might like that you want me to react to” - not “Amerikanen reacts to svenska klassiker”. Though, a potential Swedish classic by Eric Gadd is his number one hit “Do you believe in me”. Almost every Swedes have heard it and it charted as number one.

You should listen to more of his songs. There are many good soul rnb songs he's done. Right way, Do you believe in me, Eye of the spirit... He was one of my favorite artists in the early 90's. Very nice sound and style.
Check out Mats Göhtersköld "Varför är det så skönt..." and you will find a song that ended most Swedish Discos around the millenium.. Not safe for work lyrics but insane smooth and pretty good song if you can look past the lyrics :)

I like you.. Especially because you are fairly congenial.. yet.. It DOES feel like you are being TOO optimistic about things.. that is.. IF we are to learn about YOU!! Then when we discuss music.. it's OKAY that you recognize that you can APPRECIATE everything that people present to you.. but.. the simplistic "banger or not".. is a bit TOO simplistic.. .. And. the idea that I think you are trying to be a bit.. too agreeable.. is something I think is confirmed in the preamble of this video where you say "R&B, funk, and new jack Swing.. and that is right up my alley".. I don't take any offense or object in ANY way.. I like those too.. buuuuut.. if the POINT is about finding out.. what you resonates to.. If ~I~ had been presented with that specific triad of of potential genres, I would've pointed out that.. to me.. it sounded like he was trying to "hedge" his bets... NOT that there is anything wrong with trying to find cross-overs or to like a LOT of stuff, but.. it DOES feel like it's something that DOES deserve recognition.. especially since the description of him being either of those is also fairly vague.. so.. I'd rather say that his style is.. "inconclusive" and "undetermined".. but people DO try to find matches.. NOT the same as me rejecting his music.. I like his music.. but.. people trying to find genres that he relates to.. and.. not settling for two.. (and to be fair; SOME people try to add OTHER genres- at the very least to specific songs).. kind of proves he isn't either.. he just.. sings what sounds good with a beat and feel that is pleasing.. So.. kind of a. "non-determined" elevator-music kind of a deal.. but that don't offend anyone.. and probably speaks (in part) to everyone... I's just.. there are so many random "caveats" that can be added before you should realize that you are trying to put something in to categories where the CORRECT category doesn't even exist.
