I work as a Business Analyst and let me tell you that you never feel like you know what you're doing, let alone excelling. Constantly fighting to get to a nonexistent top. At some point you build the confidence and back yourself even if you are not entirely sure.
What a beautiful and needed conversation. The point you made about being somewhat relieved and very happy and proud to see people in 'formal spaces' who look like you and speak your language, is something I know very well as a corporate employee, and you guys just gave me the perfect words to describe that feeling. Thank you 🤟
So I live very close to the central Drakensburg. When I’m out and about at these “tourist attractions” the white people there always feel the need to ask where are you from , because to them local black people shouldn’t be able to afford to go to such places 😪
This phenomenon seems unique to South Africa. While it's important to note that not all white South Africans hold onto outdated narratives, the disproportionately small black middle and upper-middle class compared to the majority black population exacerbates the issue
I work in China with white South Africans one of the guys refers to me as “ the black girl” as if I don’t have a name😱 we have worked together for 2 years…
Part 2??? 🥲🥲🥲 This was such an insightful conversation! I need to get back to reading, there’s so many things that I was oblivious to. I’m honestly angry, upset and heartbroken because there’s a sense of helplessness for South Africas future…

I feel for woman of color in every corporate setting
What we’re gonna do with Swahili, is exclude THEM😉🙃
More then to exclude anyone , the hope for me is for us to be more connected as Africans.
I hope she reconsiders capturing South African tribes! 🥺🥹🥹
She did mention that initially she tried to but it was hard
South Africans only go back to the rurals for Easter and Christmas 🥲
Part 2??? 🥲🥲🥲
