I sang this song the day I turned 24 last year, man it really was something, all the words resounded so well with how my life had turned out... How through failures and mistakes that had left me in utter defeat I've seen God 'raising the dead in me' by His unfailing love and Grace. It was up until that time that I didnt really understand much about the Holy spirit, tbh I was mostly scared of Him... But gradually and eventually I came to know Him as a constant companion and a ready source of strength power and love who has enabled me to do so much more that what I knew I could. I've been blessed so much by this song!! Thanks a lot Jon... May God continue to use you greatly! 😄
I love that they play these songs again, i feel so nostalgic, so many years and the lyrics have the same impact, the same feeling! 24 reasons to do it well, to try one more time, have another chance. 💘
Jon, This song has always been an answer to the question, "Is this all worth it?" I have listened to this song hundreds if not thousands of times, yet it pulls the strings in my heart every time I listen. Thank you for writing this song, and thank you for singing it for us today. It is much needed. -Theo
I've liked this song for years...but last year I started working at a children's home, and I take care of 24 children. I often thinking of the words in this song. 24 hearts. And I'm the second man now... 24 reasons. I wanna see miracles. Orphans need so much more than I can give...but I am giving to those 24 hearts, so someday they will have learned from their pain.
Thank you bro for being with us in this time. We are with you in spirit as well. Heavenly Father, we pray for Jon and his family and loved ones, bless them and provide to them whatever they need in this moment. We look up to you God. You place us back together God in times of brokenness and pain...although we may not know Jon as well as You perfectly know Him, you know him and his loved ones more than anyone in this world. Thank you for their lives. Thank you for being faithful to finish the work you started in them. You refine us through the fire and we shine out as gold.
Today was a really stressful day!! But when I was listening to the song and closed my eyes I felt peace in my heart.. We can breathe peace in the middle of the darkest seasons..no matter what!!
I will always play this song when its on my birthday which is on the 24th of April. Every single year and never missed! I freaking love the song and still am.
I turned 24 on March 24, 2017 and my boyfriend got me tickets to a Switchfoot concert in Waco, TX. I was so happy when you guys sang 24! One of my best memories that I will always cherish!❤️
Thank you 24 you turn me up side down, this existence i've been so much hurt but yet powerful enough to release the pain and anger. many people I've lost it hurts but there's a purpose... I slowly going to become stronger than I used to be, but there's still darkness yet keep moving forward. turning 25 tomorrow I'll pour it out here Thank you Switchfoot for the this wonderful song you help me lot, keep going keep creating songs we need you in this generation we desperately longing for belongingness for whatever happening in our world today. so much greed we need a soul we need spiritual revolution.
This song and Concrete Girl hit me at one of the worst times of my life. I remember I owned The Best Yet album and I hadn't really listened to your guys' music a ton because I was a 10 year old with an iPod and just didn't really listen to music or find my passion for it, then when I turned twelve I made one of the worst mistakes of my life, and I ended up only having my iPod and some earbuds and I remember listening to this song, Concrete Girl, and On Fire for HOURS just crying over and over again. Your music was one of the main reasons that my heart officially broke down and I was able to commit myself to Christ. So thank you guys. Your music will always and forever be my all time favorite.
This song is my ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ Been singing this song for 17 years, I remember singing this in Middle School dealing with severe depression. This album and song helped me so much!!!! 🎶When You raised the dead in me🎶 Thank you brother!
I'm not by any means a Christian, but I believe in the collective spirit of the divine through all of us and this song makes me cry 😢 from my interpretation, it's about someone asking to be taken into salvation by the collective spirit 🙏 Bless
Wow this awesome. I played this song today again. I looked at the time it was posted March 25. Literally a year later on the same day I search this song again. God is beautiful
Thank you Jon... this song has been a anthem in my life that helps me reflect on what i once thought i was, who i think i am, and more importantly what the Lord needs me to be. Appreciate your poetry more than you ever know.
O.M.G Jon.... You got me in tears! 😭 Simpler times is what I dream of.... I have been waiting so long to hear your voice play this song in my children's generation. Keep it up brother. You are a blessing. ❤️❤️❤️ "I'm singing Spirit take me up in arms with You!" Singing with you Jon! Thank you for these videos. They mean so much.
Tomorrow I will be 25. There were some days this past year that I had this song play on repeat in my car. Yet in the past few months life has gotten busier and I've been looking forward and suddenly my 24th year is over. The guitar Jon used in this is beautiful.
Today was the first time in 6 years I had put headphones on to listen alone (although I love listening to my 5 year old sing it was time) this song was the perfect reintroduction for making time to listen alone. Along with songs I had yet to hear. Inheritance is definitely a new favorite. With great sincerity from an admirer since The Legend of Chin days.
How could this be from the 1900’s? The album this is from was released in 2003. The song is about him turning 24, and Jon turned 24 on October of 2000.
I’m listening to this 3 months before my 25th birthday. I sit here listening to the lyrics, thinking about the 24 years that have gone by, all the struggles, physical or mental, and realize how much i’ve been through. I listened to the 21 Pilots cover and it made me cry. I’m so grateful for bands with Christian backgrounds. Thank you Switchfoot for allowing your music to resonate with me in my struggles💙
I listened to this song on repeat on my 24th birthday. My office mates at the time (I'm 34 now) were less than impressed, but it was only appropriate!!
I cant tell you how this warms my heart and melts the stress. Those 1900s you speak of bring back memories of a 16 year old rocking out to Legend of Chin , dumbfounded that christian music can sound like this,.. Thank you for reminding us that leaning on Him is our best move. Can I request The Economy of Mercy for the next video? Thanks Jon. These videos mean a lot.
Some kind of arch top ith trpeeze bridge I think ibanez makes a decent budget guitar similar called the new Yorker or similar there great for jazz and just for style!
@@javeywavey Are you sure? I didn't find this kind of guitar with google picture search for Gibson L-12: The symbols of the head stock and also on the frets are different. Actually I didn't find any matching symbol for that one on the head stock (while searching for (vintage) archtop guitars)...
Más de un año después de esta versión y todavía me sigue emocionando hasta las lágrimas. Esta canción toca algo en lo más profundo de mi ser que no sé cómo explicarlo. Es simplemente hermoso.
