Never come across the phrase nitzhonot goa until a few weeks ago, glad that I saved the info and some other bands to check out "Israel's originated nitzhonot goa (style is cherishing uplifting trance mixed with Hebrew musical themes) explore artists like: Agneton, Shivax, Goasia, Zed Reactor...India -----> pure goa trance (India style): Goa Gil (earlier work until 2003.), Shiva Shidapu, California Sunshine, Electric Universe...Japan: Tsuyoshi Suzuki, Radical Tsunami, Far East Ghost..."
Same here and I have been listening to Goa trance since 1996. I am not sure how come that I never heard of that phrase. We simply called it Goa trance back then, after some time psy-trance separated as a faster and darker sub-genre and then I stopped listening to trance sound somewhere after Infected Mushroom had their first album and slowly moved to psy-techno then progressive trance/house and later on electro.
This mix is lovely. I might be incorrect in naming it "old school," but it definitely seems these artists are more similar to artists of the original goa/psy trance movement of the mid to late 1990s. Again, I'm neither a scholar nor an insider, but the sound is not akin to what I'd identify as "uplifting" or "arena" trance. But the conversation concerning the overlap and the demarcations between these genres would be nice to have. It's very difficult to find avid and intellectual trance fans in most U.S. cities, though. Anyhow, what lent to this mix being categorized as "uplifting?" And what characterizes "nitzhonot"?
Nitzhonot tends to be faster and more like uplifting industrial than its sister new-school goa, which is more spacy. Both are closer to the roots of the goa movement than psychedelic trance, which has a more "mainstream" sound.
Nitzhonot is the israelian and uplifting the greek side of the same coin, psychedelic eastern european/ middle eastern trance. They are totally the same.
