If you want kbbq that's Really good quality (but isn't ayce), try doni don and Han Sung. You'll end up REALLY full for about 60 for three people. I'm more of a quality over quantity person though and my family and I don't eat as much as him :) I've found that people that Love Gen haven't tried really Good kbbq before and are really into "getting their money's worth", but I'm not willing to waste the time, effort, money, or calories for a meal that isn't spectacular.

Amazing review. I'm so freakin' hungry now. Southern born and bread here in a small NC town. This would go over huge here. We have an outstanding Hibachi joint with very fresh meats, tons of seafood, etc. Southerners like their sauces. And their pork belly. Atlanta may be the closest I could come to a joint like Gen. Sizable Korean population down there. I know Joe Kwon from The Avett Brothers did a Korean culinary tour in the ATL with a Garden and Gun writer recently. Hmmm... Anyway. I'm korean and have always considered myself as a "bbq expert". And I gotta say Mikey knows exactly how to enjoy korean bbq. You guys can trust him at least when it comes to eating korean bbq. I can approve that. And so when you have a chance to have kbbq next time, just remind the way he eats in this video or watch it quick. That'll help as hell when you take advantage of your kbbq as much as you can.
Gen here in Vegas is ok. They dont have lettuce leaf to wrap your meat in, the rice cakes are NOT tteokbokki(and they are fried?) and it usually takes awhile to get your food.
I'm sorry but Gen is like the McDonald's of KBBQs. It's a big chain that's ubiquitous but meat quality is suspect, so I'd hardly call it the "best." I'm surprised especially in somewhere like SF Bay Area that Mike would pick Gen when there are so many unique, more authentic options than that big chain. I really suspect this video was sponsored by Gen to market them.

I went there last night. It is just mediocre at best comparing to the one that already was closed down last year. 1). meat quality is ok, but not great. Short rib and cajun shrimps were our favor. 2). You have to wait for more food, and our BBQ grill pan kept getting burnt. 3). Hot water ran out and they charge for hot tea. At the end, we still don't feel full. I doubt I will go back again.
Gen??? Gen is slop shop KBBQ chain in SoCal and its everywhere now. Their meat is shady and half spoiled grade F scrap trimmings. All u can eat is not really the way to go w. KBBQ... only decent one is Road to Seoul in KTown Los Angeles. If you want awesome meat your better off going to a high end yakiniku restaurant and only good ones outside Japan are in LA. I just went here on Tuesday! This place is amazing!!!!!!! Best Korean BBQ I've ever had and I will definitely be returning! The waiters are awesome too. Seriously wish I didn't live so far in Sacramento. San Jose is only a 2 hour drive though! Yum!

Gen??? Gen is slop shop KBBQ chain in SoCal and its everywhere now. Their meat is shady and half spoiled grade F scrap trimmings. All u can eat is not really the way to go w. KBBQ... only decent one is Road to Seoul in KTown Los Angeles. If you want awesome meat your better off going to a high end yakiniku restaurant and only good ones outside Japan are in LA. Sorry man.. no good Korean places in Bay area.. just come to LA.

Lmao this isn't even near SF. This is in San Jose. It would be fine to say South Bay, or even Bay Area, but SF Bay Area gives the impression that this Gen is in SF, which is misleading.

I just went here on Tuesday! This place is amazing!!!!!!! Best Korean BBQ I've ever had and I will definitely be returning! The waiters are awesome too. Seriously wish I didn't live so far in Sacramento. San Jose is only a 2 hour drive though! Yum!
