Thank you. It's a great quality device (except for the display that dies on these), indeed real hi-fi, great sound, hope you don't regret selling yours

When you played "Michelle, by belle" it always reminds me of The Show by Dougy Fresh, he uses the lyrics in that track. lol

@@user-wx3bj8jb3q hello, I see what you mean, digits starting to fade away. The problem is the original glue that holds the connectors (the big white plastic things with the black circuitry in it) to the glass. I decays over time. So far I have not come accros a solution for that. My only advice is : do not touch it! Leave it like it is, any attempt to repair or replace will only make things worse. I m sorry but it's a very common problem on this specific device (and on most lcd displays from that period).

@@h.c.g3459 Thank you very much for your answer, thank you for answering, I have thought the same as you, and I am not going to touch them, I have done that with other cassette players that I had and without success. I see your solution as viable, but I don't realize what you have used and even less where you have to make the connections. Kind regards.

      Hello, boomboxery.com/forum/threads/jvc-pc-55-dead-screen-hassle-then-replacement.32566/
I put a bit of an axplanation there, you ll need a service manual... Basically : the IC that handles the tape operation (called "microprocessor" in the service manual) has a few pins on it that are made for driving led indicators. The lcd display has its own processors that are being "fed" by that processor. I followed the circuitry for 4 pins and put leds (and resistance) on them. Those 4 pins are for play, FF en REW, music scan. (the 3 yellow leds and the orange one I out in). The vu meter is a pretty basic 12v one. It's powered by the power for. The 2 lights behind the original lcd screen (it takes less power then the original lightbulbs and is therefore safe). I put the right, left and ground for the VU meter to the rec out line (RCA). The vu meter has a little button on it to select modes, I put a button parallel on it and put that one on. The back of. The deck. Then i used a plastic plate, made. Holes for. The leds, fixed the VU meter and leds on it, and printed a black sheet to block. The light of the leds. I put it all in the white lcd lifhtbox, put back the original lcd screen (the glas plate) and the end result is as shown.
      In short :
      - led indicators : soldered to ground and the led driving outputs of the microprocessor
      - vu meter : powered by the power for. The original lightbulbs and soldered to rec out, which is used as input for. The VU meters (allowing rec level slider to be operational as originally intended)
