Hey, great job! I've been in Tulsa my entire life with a couple years exception. I love it here, and I love the work you did to create this awesome piece. Thanks again
Not that i go to the school will rogers 😳 i just found about the movie a few months ago, and i am soo obsessed with it 😂 lol i live here, and i still haven't seen everything 😁
I have lived in Tulsa my entire life, and I didn't know where all the "Outsiders" locations were! Thank you so much for pointing those out...this video is cool! ;)
Yup..I live in Tulsa and have seen all those places, some on a daily basis. My sister and I went out one day after watching The Outsiders, yet again lol, and found all of those spots. I know an older woman who saw a lot of the filming take place in the neighborhood around Crutchfield park and was able to point a lot of it out to me. But Im glad you got to see it all and made a video of your own. Rock On!
I've lived in Tulsa my entire life and can never find the house. I've driven all over north Tulsa looking for it near Crutchfield park and the overpass by the train tracks. Well done! Now, where is that damn house????
Cool video. In the movie, right after the rumble, when the motorcycle cop pulls Dallas and Ponyboy over, they stop in front of E.R. Heiliger. My dad worked there at the time and saw Matt Dillon outside. The Outsiders has always been my favorite move, I've seen it well over 30 times. It's fun to try and find obscure spots from the movie. The place that Dallas lived, above the bar, has been torn down.
I'm from Southern California and the Outsiders is still one of my favorite movies of all time. I was born in the 70s grew up in 80s and the movie is a Fuckin Classic! this is a trip to watch the actual places where they filmed. Badass! I like watching stuff like this thanks Tulsa OK . I'm an Outsider Greecer Hahahahh
Oh, my God! You ladies are sooo lucky to have gotten there. I saw Nicole's bulletin and attacked it. I HAD to watch this. I love the photos, it was very well organized. I have to get there someday. Thank you for putting your photos up on TH-cam for us all to enjoy. Stay Gold.
Born and raised in Tulsa. Still living in Tulsa. Tulsa is place fun to visited! Now these the Admiral Drive-in is buried last year in September 2010. Tulsa are try to get a money from a donation so they would rebuilding. But I doubt it.
I watched this movie so many times as a kid but it still never clicked in my head that the movie theatre was the Circle Cinema.....it was an "adult" theatre for awhile but now that area has been cleaned up and it plays indie films and such.....I pass it every day on my way to work! When I was in middle school I found the newspaper from the scene in Johnny's hospital room hanging in the garage of a neighbor's house. She had worked on the set of the movie.
I have to commend you. You did good work finding all the spots from the movie. I am a life long resident of Tulsa. I have went to school, worshiped and played in many of the places you filmed that were in the movie. I was in the 4th grade when the movie was filmed and actually have a polaroid of me and "dally" Matt Dillon. You are not alone in your luv for the story and characters. again wtg and good work
NO WAY NO WAY NO WAYYY!!!!!! AHHH! THAT IS SOOO NOT FAIR!!! Me and my friend are earning up our money to go and hopefully we will get to go VERY soon!!!! ahhhh i love this video... so much. i
Cool! I have yet to see The outsiders, but have been on my own movie location scavenger hunt for all the UHF locations each time i go out there. I know what a blast it is to fing those spots. And it seems I have already gooten some of The Outsiders locations along the way.
Wow that brought back so many memories. That was my all time favorite movie growing up. I saw alot of scenes shot for that movie. My dad was a Tulsa Policeman and he worked security for the movie and even was cast as an extra. The scene where Jonny dies and Dallas runs out of the hospital and pulls the gun on the ambulance driver I was as. I sat in coppola's lap and even got to eat breakfast withTommy Howell, Tom Cruise, Rob Low and Patrick Swayze.
Anyone know where the filming took place of Dally getting shot by the police? I live in Tulsa myself and that's the only place here that I haven't found yet..
i am also from tulsa, as a matter of fact i am from dawson, (which is a small area community) and could tell you crazy stories about some of the original old timers(The Dawson Knights) that still live there today!! seeing this really brings back memories. thank you much.
i live in Tulsa also, and just wondered how you found the addresses to these locations? being from Tulsa, of course ive seen The Outsiders and love it. youve seen the movie Tex right? if you have i hope you got a pic of The Camelot.
I think the old church where they hid out was in Jay, Oklahoma.
My friend was an extra which gave me lots of opportunities to rub elbows with the cast. A few memories are: watching the shoot when they burned the old church, going to Coppola's hotel room with my friend's dad who was the barber for the actors, going to the mall with some of the cast including dillon, cruise, machio & others (turned a few heads), Leif Garrett showed up at the hospital with a mild OD one night where my wife worked, Matt Dillon listened to Frank Zappa all the time. It was fun!
Lol have the places that the outsiders where filmed at are either torn down or gone now! I'm from Tulsa, it's pretty awesome. I know exactly how they all felt in those situations!
I want to go there SOOOOOOO BAD!! but i live in michigan so imagine how long that would take even if we flew there it would be like 3 hrs and if we drove there it would be like 3 days. maybe i will go by myself one day as soon as im 18. or maybe when we move to kansas then it wouldent b so far? who knows?
Hate to be the bearer of bad news folks, but the Admiral Twin Drive-in burned to the ground last week. Search it on facebook for a "resurrection campaign." Totally sucks. Have been going to that theater since I was a very small child. A Tulsa Icon is no more : (...... Long live the Camelot and now the Admiral Twin!!!
Oh my God I am 100000% jealous! I wish i could go to Tulsa! Love the video Nicole! But I do have a question-was it hard finding all these places, like if you buy a map in Tulsa will it point out these places? I especially want to know where Johnny's house is and where those train tracks are where Ponyboy threw the balsa wood.
no there was two churchs(the one they hid out in and the one by the bus stop thing) and i talked to a guy about the abandoned lot. the guy lived right on the street that the rumble was at. and his father owned the curtis house when he was younger but they rented the house out to Coppola.
It's been years since I thought about this, but I'm going to tell you as best I can remember. The house where the boys met up with Buck Merrill. Where they went through some sort of party, or bar and they went upstairs and Buck gave one of them a gun.... That house belonged to a friend of mine and they used his bedroom and his furnature in the movie. It used to be at the 163rd st exit off of I-44. It was torn down to build a Burger King across from the new truck stop. It was a very sad day..
The only building you got wrong was the DX station. Its in Sperry near Main and N Oak Street. You can google map it at 121 N Oak Street, Sperry, OK. It's still there too!
You have the wrong location for the DX station in your video. The DX station is in Sperry, OK. It is now abandoned. It can be seen on Google Street View by searching the address "247 N 4th W Ave, Sperry, OK". Cool video overall. I wish TH-cam hadn't killed the audio.
Facebook has a North Tulsa group. Do a search, this site won't let me post a link. It's for people who were there in the 50's 60's & 70's, the "real" Outsiders (like me). I grew up there, went to school in Sperry, my brother worked at the Admiral Twin one summer. Was a great place to grow up, and was a great time to be there.
I have lived here for 10 years now - I miss the East Coast- anyone notice how either nothing changed in 20 years or things looked worse - :( Dont know why anyone would miss Tulsa or want to live on Tulsa time
No, it is not a ghetto area - true, that the people in this area don't make much, they also have pride. I came from the neighborhood like what is shown and my dad lived it - and graduated from Rogers High School in '51. Be more respectful and be quiet.
oh and i do know exactly what your talking about by the way cause ive seen the movie about a bazillion times, plus i was simply stating something that i found out and i didnt mean to sound rude
ok they did not tare anything down. the admiral twin BURNT DOWN. i live in east tulsa just a while away from the admiral twin. and they are thinking of ways to rase the money. but hardly any one will donate to rebuild it.
I live in tulsa, it's really not that great, not much to it, though I wish the downtown was slightly bigger, Go to another big city, and there will be at least twice as much things to do there.
why do i keep posting comments in the wrong places ugg it drives me nuts. that comment shouldnt b there it should be a few pages over. Ugg(smack myself in the head)
Wow... go to NYC or Vegas instead of Tulsa for jobs and things to do that don't cost a truckload of money? You were right... there are some really ignorant people in Tulsa.
omg now i really wanna go there!! the front of the high skool reminds me of my middle school,(which used to be a high skool from the 40's) !!!
LUCKY!!
Love it! Stay Gold.

I LIVE ON QUINCY AND INDEPENDENCE!!....RIGHT WHERE THEY FILMED MOST OF IT! MY UNCLES HOUSE WAS THEIR HOUSE!!
Yup..I live in Tulsa and have seen all those places, some on a daily basis. My sister and I went out one day after watching The Outsiders, yet again lol, and found all of those spots. thats my hometown and there is sumthing about that place that makes me want to go back

It was filmed at Crutchfield Park, on the opposite end of where the fountain scene was filmed.
i am also from tulsa, as a matter of fact i am from dawson, (which is a small area community) and could tell you crazy stories about some of the original old timers(The Dawson Knights) that still live there today!! seeing this really brings back memories. thank you much.
thats it i'm going for sure now
i live in Tulsa also, and just wondered how you found the addresses to these locations?
being from Tulsa, of course ive seen The Outsiders and love it. youve seen the movie Tex right? if you have i hope you got a pic of The Camelot.

I live less than a mile away from Tulsa in Broken Arrow! :D
Cool video. In the movie, right after the rumble, when the motorcycle cop pulls Dallas and Ponyboy over, they stop in front of E.R. Heiliger.
