Hey! I’m South African 🇿🇦 and it’s so coool to see a build that reminds me of home! Thank you very much. iNgwenya is isiZulu for crocodile. The difference between a crocodile and an alligator is that the crocodile’s mouth is more of a V shape whereas the alligator is more of a U shape. I’m not sure about which ones bigger though 😅 anyway, thank you for the build and the representation!

I love how you put PP225 Flag Halyard Chairs around the campfire. Lounge chairs with a price of around $15000 each irl 🤪 - However, as always it is a lovely build ♥

Differences between alligators 🐊 and crocodiles, (I’ve been close enough to them to tell 😆) : Hint: you won’t be able to tell by size unless you’re comparing two big, full grown animals and they both happen to be the largest average sizes of their species (there’s no way to know that in general). In other words alligators reach about 14/15 feet and crocodiles can grow to be 19 feet (roughly 500 cm = gator and 580 am = croc ) - but there have been many exceptions where gators grow longer. Idk how you’d tell that just from looking, anyway. Generally, they’re about the same size.
A bigger clue is the water, itself and where you are, Crocs and gators tend to live in different environments; alligators prefer freshwater marshes and lakes while crocodiles tend to live in saltwater environments. However, alligators AND crocs have surprisingly been known to swim in the ocean, often for several miles.
If you live in a place like Florida, where many fresh water marshes are part of the inter coastal waterways and lead to the ocean, this is the kind of place they find their way out into the sea.
A crocodile’s top and bottom jaws are fairly equal, whereas an alligator has a bit of an “overbite” with the top jaw being slightly larger. The easiest way for me to tell (and I grew up in Florida where we have both - it’s not at all unusual to see them when boating or at the many nature preserves) is the snout, skin and teeth. Crocodiles have a pronounced fourth tooth in the lower jaw that lays on the outside of the top jaw when closed. Crocodiles also possess lingual salt glands (found on their tongues) that help excrete excess salt from their bodies, (although I wouldn’t suggest climbing into their mouth to take a peek 👀).
Crocodiles tend to be longer than the alligator full grown. Crocodile hides tend to be more of a light tan or olive color, whereas alligators are usually a dark blackish grey. (The exact shade of an alligator skin depends on the quality of the water it swims in. Tannic acid from overhanging trees will make them darker, algae will make them greener).
There are more species of crocodiles around the world, but the only kind you are likely to find in the United States are American Crocodiles (Crocodylus acutus), and they could be found at the northern end of their range in south Florida.
Hope this helps! Oh, and if I were in Africa, I would not only assume it was a croc, I’d assume it would eat me if given the chance, (yet I am not at all afraid of alligators, they’re rather lazy).
Edit: also gators will inhabit literally any body of water, no matter how small. You’re pond is big enough. They’ve been known to invade swimming pools and even lie in baby pools , in a pinch. They’ll take whatever they can get.
Btw: camels have one hump 🐪 or two 🐫 depending on the type and even a THREE-humped camel was discovered last year, living on the Arabian peninsula! Same creature, different humps 😉

oh what this is fascinating! thank you so much for sharing!! i know this will stick to the very-specific-knowledge-storage in my brain and i'll be so grateful to you when i (inevitably) bring this up to impress people at a party or, perish the thought, i meet an alligator or a crocodile (or both)

To resolve the alligator arm/leg debate on what to call extremities, I like the blanket term “feetsies”

This build is 🤩 ! This would be the perfect vacation home for the O’Connell family from the mummy (the good Mummy movie with Brandon Fraser). I would love to see a different type of world like a African type world or a Australia beach city, Parisian city, Japanese city etc. basically I hope in the next or future pack we get beach view apartments, what world would like to see. I also like Honey 🍯 in my tea 🍵😊.
